May 2, 200818 yr Sounds great!! Totally different from Violet Hill, and at the same time different from any other thing that Coldplay has done. I'll be waiting for the complete song.
May 2, 200818 yr I'm glad I'm not the only one too. I'm a HUGE Geneses/Gabriel fan, so this make my day! If you listen to the instrumental piano version, the chords are so Tony Banks it makes you cry.:) Is there a live bootleg, or am I confused by this post?
May 2, 200818 yr Although I'm a bit disappointed about "Violet Hill" so far, I have to admit that I like "A Spell A Rebell Yell". But you cannot judge a song while listening to it for only 30 seconds. Somehow it reminds me of U2's "Lemon"... :)
May 2, 200818 yr oooOOoooh... Its definitely different from anything they've done before, and it sounds very... synth-filled... Could they finally be stepping out of their comfort zone? That would be amazing. Yeah, I agree that it sounds like U2, only cuz he's singing in a Bono-ush voice... I cant judge about the goodness of the song, though, I'll have to hear the whole thing. :)
May 2, 200818 yr It sounds like Vangelis+Enya+U2 (it reminds me a lot to Joshua Tree's Mothers of the Disappeared)
May 2, 200818 yr Author Im starting to think this is great . Its soo different but only 30 secs but I do have a feeling its better than VH, and I also think even though I like VH, that VH will be the worst track on the album which is a good thing!
May 2, 200818 yr A Spell A Rebel Yell sounds more interesting to me than Violet Hill.....but at 30 seconds, it's kind of a tease, don't you think? And making the song a vinyl only release in a magazine that is hard for people to obtain here in the US is the biggest bunch of crap.
May 2, 200818 yr its hard to obtain for everybody outside the UK, so get on to ebay :-) i'm sure it will appear on the vast information superhighway somewhere. :D
May 2, 200818 yr I didn't really like what I heard in this short clip, but then again I really enjoyed Violet Hill.

May 2, 200818 yr I have posted a lot of negativity about Violet Hill recently, but hearing this has given me hope about VLV. It sounds very odd, but that is a good thing. It's a lot less mainstream than VH. The vocals sound very 'Echo & the Bunnymen', as someone pointed out to me. If each song on VLV is as different to each other as VH is to ASARY then the album should have a bit of something for everyone on there! There is hope yet. Exactly! Even though, this song is ONLY a b-side, it sounds much, much better than VH. Maybe there's a logic in it? Maybe they want b-sides to be better than songs on longplay? Nevertheless, ASARY gives me hope.

May 2, 200818 yr I've enjoyed a lot the snippet, sounds very promising to me.. somewhere between Mother Of The.... on The Joshua Tree and One Step Closer on How To Dismantle.. by U2 Plus, I can hear a little touch of Beatles " Tomorrow Never Knows " & Within You Without You " And also " Who Feels Love " from Oasis... Geeeez, I'm so desperate to listen to the full song that my imagination sees or hears stuffs when there's only a 30 seconds snippets.... LET IT LEAK :o)
May 2, 200818 yr Author that is an excellent way of looking at it Thank you!:) I dont get that quite often:laugh3:
May 2, 200818 yr Hmmm...exciting...and I cant wait to hear full song! I hear in it something, that reminds me of chinese or japanese traditional music, don´t you think so?
May 3, 200818 yr It sounds like Vangelis+Enya+U2 (it reminds me a lot to Joshua Tree's Mothers of the Disappeared) Yes it definitely sounds like Mother's of the Disappeared from U2's Joshua Tree (an album which Brian Eno produced).
