Because if Coldplay state that it is an original the public will soon consider it as plagiarism of "Phantom Planet - California"!!! Go to youtube if you don't believe me. Maybe two or three similar chords and the fact that the snare drum is hit a lot, but guess what? Thousands of songs have similar chords and constant beating snare drums. This isn't even close to Violet Hill, the song structure is completely different anyway. No offense, but listen to songs before you call them copies.
