Coldplay to perfom at MTV Movie Awards on June 1

Featured Replies

there was one particularly stupid young man who said the performance was just ok, but that he would've preferred madonna and justin timberlake's new song.

he also gave "mad props" to the pussycat dolls for an "incredible" performance.

so yeah, other than that ppl are loving it.

It wasn't their greatest performance, but it sure was something to see! :D I liked it. I watched it live and just finished watching the repeat. Hahaha

Chris looked a little nervous though, but i thought that they did fine. :nice:

obviously he is a retard or he wants to fuck pcd.

Coldplay was on the t.v.?

I thought it was just random people playing the strings part....

i'm pretty sure he's gay so prbly the first one.

yeah, the "duet" was coldplay on the tv playing the strings lol.

I was expecting much worse, it wasn't THAT bad. Besides from Chris's pitchy vocals, it was quite good, I thought.

If it wasn't perfect I'm going to blame the monkey at the mixing desk for that. There's some rule that awards shows have to make people sound worse on tv than they did in person. I've been to one to see the phenomenon myself- the sound equipment will never capture the way it all sounded there in the room.

That was one thing I kept in mind while watching it, and one of the reasons I never bother to buy concert DVDs. When you're there in person, it doesn't matter how much they suck, your excitement plus that of the hundreds or thousands of people around you is what makes it amazing. Was it just me, of did they have Chris' vocals up WAY too high? I could barely hear the rest of the band, and it made his problems stand out.

Awesome icon btw.

aww you guys, it wasn't that bad at all!! Chris was just a leeetle shaky, but it was okay. And they looked gorgeous.

Ya'll got me all scared thinking they sucked. It was good!

what was up with them not playing it totally live. i really was not a fan of them using the tracks in the background. i know they don't play those instruments but don't you think they could have come up with a better solution. i hope they don't do this at their concerts

I adored it... and the band on the tv and huge screen playing the string instuments was awesome. Great performance! I wish they could have performed somewhere more grand, but I really would like to download the performance when it's available. :)

dammit i want to read the opinion of the haters. they are so pathetic maybe im too masochist lol.

So you don't have Live 2003? :P

I thought they did fine. Like I said, Chris looked reeaaally nervous, so that's probably why his voice was all over the place. But yeah, they did have him louder than the other 3, figures. :dozey:

But cut them some slack, guys! This is their first big performance in say, two/three years, and Chris does not like to disappoint.

I thought it was brilliant. :nice:

really disappointed, Chris sang bad, that's not usual on him

but i hope if chris for now on dont feel secure about to play in tv awards i think its time to quit that performances. A lot of preassure. well ill wait for their first live performance of the album :).

chris is always nervous in their tv performances. chris sang awesome in their live performances so people be more open minded its just one performance obviously they gonna improve it.

He has a right to be nervous: MTV is all about rap and that fall out boy bullshit. :dozey: Which is why I was suprised they chose to sing VLV and not Violet Hill. Half of the people in the audience were probably like, "Who is this???"

the poor guy is nervous as hell. but you can tell in his face that he's glad to be back on the road, especially after he asks his standard question "everybody okay?" and the crowd reacts. i can't wait to see them live

yeah, music's in a terrible state if ppl think the pussycat dolls were better.

i still can't get over how bad the pussycat dolls were. they literally put me in a bad mood for making me watch that.

i can't say i was blown away by that ... i think Chris does generally sound better in studio than live - he has a surprisingly weak voice considering his vocal range

BUT 'the other three' were stellar, so i don't actually care

PCD's staging and dancing were better, but take that all away and it was terrible. And they had to use cheap tricks [i.e jabbawalkies from america's best dance crew, levatation thingys.] to look good. Which is sad, because I actually like their new single.

yep but besides the nervous fact i think it was good. but hope they quit to do tv award performances at least in usa. Hope chris is okay right now.....

man, they're so humble, I LOVE THEM!!!

Chris even said "THANK YOU" to Edward Norton & Liv Tyler! Never heard a band doing that before!!!

I'm sure Chris is fine. It's MTV, they don't care about quality.

Not that Coldplay didn't give a quality performance. :uhoh:
