How was that excellent? :P

The rest of the band was excellent though.

One of the reasons that the crowd may not have seemed as into it as it would if the members of this board were in attendance is because MTV hasn't told them to like this music yet.

Okay, so Chris' voice did not seem completely up to par. However, if this is one of Coldplay's first live performances in several years, this is to be somewhat expected.

I, for one, was very excited watching the performance. If this is the jumping off point, it's only going to get better from here, folks!

Short answer: no :P

I think they had A LOT of backing track going on... obviously the strings and effects and maybe even some vocals. If not then their vocals were amazingly spot on and I am even more in awe :p Probably singing over a backing track to make it sound fuller and more on pitch.

I'm really looking forward to seeing Violet Hill live now, as I think that live it will be much more interesting to watch and hear the actual band members more than the backing tracks.

Aside from the strings the only vocals I think they used in the backtrack were the ooos at the end and the oooh ooohs. I think aside from the shakiness of chris' voice (due to nervousness it seemed) the vocals were pretty spot on.

I whole-heartedly agree....It`s only going to get better from here!!:D

wow, how many new reply for early morning!

As first performance it was good. I can understand his nervous.

New pics, new videos, it's so good to see them again! I love this song! Thank you, Coldplay! :nice:

okay what the heck?! DO NOT be comparing this performance to Britney Spears' "comeback" flop!

coldplay's performance wasn't that bad; i thought it was pretty good, although it did surprise me how their setup was minimal and more backtracks were used. plus it's the first time they performed this song live, so after a few more run throughs and performances the should be more top-notch. still good...much better than the Talk performance at the '06 Grammys.

and whoever said that the reason why the crowd wasn't into it b/c MTV hasn't really taught people to appreciate 'good music'...gets a cookie. that is fact. :)

it's MTV in America after all. if there needs to be more crowd involvement, a few bathroom jokes and scantily-clad women will do fine.

*edit*

my cousins got to wave to the guys on the red carpet. :bomb:

I'm a newbie still. So sue me. ;)

But my argument stands, especially considering that this is material they have not performed live in front of an audience before.

i hope this will get better on a couple of gigs :D

You know, in a way its kinda cool that they're nervous. At least they didn't look like ass holes pretending to own the place. Chris even thanked everyone for having them come back to America. I'm glad they're nervous because maybe they feel like they're starting over and everything is fresh. Like they don't know what to expect. Coldplay have practically been re-born with this album so the fact that they're a little nervous is a good thing. At least they realize they're trying something new ;)

what did Chris say right before he said "Thank you very much" Something with "America" ? ?

Sorry if this has been answered

NEVER MIND

^^

thanks for having us back to america

just saw the video on youtube and i didnt think it was the best ever preformance, but it was their first in a very long time with NEW songs...when they went on tour in latin america they still played their old songs but this was a brand new song, but they will get better as they play more live gigs

whoohoo

I think Will was the best...

Have you seen his nice ass... in his unbelievable tight trousers... :wink3: "yummy"

Hmmm disappointing performance to be honest.

I was just going to post that with that new setup we got some nice ass shots of Will and Chris...asstacular!!!:D

Ha Melanie I think our roles have reversed from when we last saw each other.

Last night I was the one up at an ungodly hour whilst you were here at a normal time. And now you're here at (what must be) an ungodly hour and I'm here at 10.30am :D

Hi Mich! Yes, can not sleep for love nor money...sadly, pathetically, I think I can't sleep because of Coldplay:laugh3:

Really? :stunned:

How come? Excitement? Or disappointment?

Really? :stunned:

Definitely excitement. I'm not disappointed with last nights performance at all. We have seen Chris fuck up monumentally too many times to count so being a little nervous is nothing. At least he remembered all the words:laugh3:

It's go time for Coldplay...phase one of the world takeover in action...

I want to see the little video they had playing on that big screen..
