Well, I just watched the Violet Hill video, and I wasn't very impressed. It's a low budget, low-quality video that is random and chaotic, don't get me wrong, I'm not mad or anything like that, I guess I just had an image or an idea of how the video could have looked. But as well all know, those ideas in your head rarely turn out to be the real thing.

 

Oh well, it's a kind of a funny video, and I look forward to their next video!

I liked it to be honest. I didn't get the bit with Will and the rock tho :laugh3: that was abit random. I thought the bit round the piano where they're all headbanging was funny, liked that bit!

yeah, i didnt like it a whole lot either tbh...but it doesnt bother me that much since the song itself makes up for it

I really liked it, I thought it was fun and a bit like a French impressionist film, actually, with the random chaos and then suddenly dead-serious moments, it was a bit Beatles and Python-esque. It was like watching a bunch of normal guys being ridiculous. Which I like.:laugh3:

 

That 'intrepid explorer' look on Chris's face when he was trudging through snow was just hillarious.

 

Actually in afterthought it kind of reminds me of the Blur video To the End, which was a spoof on a french film of sorts...

I can't say I'm overly keen version of the video either, but the Political version is brilliant, I really love it!

I agree with Jpw48. Violet hell. err hill lyrics are very rich, and precise. But the political video, is much better...

If anyone has seen Marilyn Manson's video for the 'Beautiful People' ( I think) he uses a mag glass too,it kinda reminded me of that when I saw the video,except ALOT less scary,lol

 

The video is okay,they couldve done better but I like the song so it doesnt really matter.

Well actually I enjoyed the political one more, the music goes well with the outrageous footage. And they throw in some random clips of the original VH video which fit quite nicely.

 

For me its which one is more enjoyable, and in this case the political one keeps me entertained. Not that Coldplay doesn't entertain me :P but if I had the choice to watch either of those videos WITHOUT the music playing (granted, thats a little weird since the original actually has the band "performing") then why wouldn't I chose the hilarious montage of world leaders dancing and acting like idiots? Its just more visually entertaining...

 

But I still love me some Violet Hill :nice:

With the theme of the album, its only fitting that they went in a political direction with the song and I applaud it. However I can do without the original. If you go back to X&Y, Talk and Hardest Part, weren't that good either so what can we expect?

I'm not fond of either video. Well, I actually think they're great - BUT NOT FOR THE BANDS COMEBACK SINGLE! This is more 4th single video material.

Where it might not win any awards, it's a good video, and in an age where music videos are becoming less and less important to promote songs.
