^^^I was one of those people with VLV  I can't say I like the new titles but well...as you said, I cannot really judge the songs only because of it :P

Am I the only one who actually likes the titles? They are very good in fact... (except for Princess of China or whatever meh was it :D )

Nope. You're not alone. I didn't originally like "Alien Radio," but the more I thought about it, the more I liked it. I think "Every Teardrop is a Waterfall" sounds absolutely epic. You aren't alone here!!!

Youz speakz za truthz.

Before VLVODAAHF came out, if people heard the titles "Life in Technicolor" or "Strawberry Swing" or "Chinese Sleep Chant", I'm sure they'd be thinking wtf. I don't think we can judge any potential song titles either way right now.

:awesome:

I warmed to the title Viva La Vida or Death And All His Friends. I loved the paradox of an energetic YAY! title in VIVA LA VIDA up against the dark depressing sombre Death And All His Friends.

^ I love the title too.

I love also how the album has a start and a similar ending, its epic :D

please not those horrible titles :bomb:

Agree!

Every Teardrop (Is A Waterfall) sounds like OMG I'M SUCH A DRAMAQUEEN

can't judge a song by its title though

I totally agree. And I noticed that you posted on page 42.

I don't really care about the title. It just has to be a great song. :)

EDIT: I just noticed that this is my 42nd post! :D

^

Omg omg a single!!! :wideeyed: Can't wait to listen to it! :dazzled:

(Whenever it comes out, there are no official news :P)

I also believe Alien Radio is a great title! The others are... I don't really know  But I think this one would be great for a single!

I actually didn't have any problem with any of the VLV song titles. I didn't know what they'd end up being, but I thought they were interesting.

Alien Radio is a similarly interesting title to me. Princess of China is interesting, but I think it might be a bit much...as Lovers in Japan doesn't exactly infringe upon any Japanese culture - meaning the song never had to include anything distinctly Japanese. It could just be about two people in love in Japan. Whereas Princess of China is a bit different, as there's some cultural ownership involved in that song title. Unless Chris wrote a song about a Chinese woman (which I doubt, but I could be wrong) I'd prefer it not be on the album.

Teardrops is frankly just an awful title. Even if the song is brilliant, the title will always suck. Not to mention, if the title is any lyric in the song it could be too much. I suppose there's something to "Every time you cry it's such a massive deal", which doesn't have to be stupid. But as a title it's a bit much.

But yeah, I would say I'm interested in Alien Radio as a title. All this UFO/Alien stuff is a bit worrying to me, as I'm not sure how a theme like that could be pulled off, but I'm willing to wait a see.

Let's hope Will dissaproves those titles!!

We will take it as a sign that the titles are awful but the songs awesome ! :P

the South Bank Show (September 2009)

I'd like to know where did people get the idea that one of the songs would be called Alien Radio?

For one thing the band was interviewed back in mid-'09 and revealed 25 songs that were being considered for the album.

http://www.wikicoldplay.com/LP5#Possible_LP5_songs_-_found_on_the_South_Bank_Show_.28September_2009.29

One of them, as you see, was called "Alien Radio." And with all the UFO related Coldplay stuff like on their page

http://coldplay.com/

How if you keep your mouse on the News section opens up to a paper that says "UFO" and same thing on Live Transmission, a UFO comes in and beams up the "Transmission" part of the word. Plus they've been hinting at a UFO theme here and there in other places as well. It just makes it seem likely that "Alien Radio" would then be chosen as one of the songs to be on the album. That's what I think anyway.

Approval

If you ask me, I think "Every Teardrop is a Waterfall" has already gotten Will's approval. I mean, look at that one photo of the band where it's painted up on their wall! Do you think he'd want something painted artistically up on their wall that he didn't care for?

But, honestly, I don't find anything wrong with the title. I have a feeling that once we have the song itself, it will fit in all the better and make more sense. I don't understand the extreme dislike that is being shown towards it. There's some interesting imagery within it!

^ Hear, hear!

I didn't like Viva La Vida or Death And All His Friends as an album title at first because I thought it was too much of a mouthful to say, but now I think it's a pretty cool name for an epic album

Win Titles:

Alien Radio

Arabesque

Cartoon Heart

Fail Titles:

I'll have to agree with you, I never like 'every teardrop is a waterfall'

Now where do those OTHER titles you named come from? :wideeyed:

Arabesque is a title made of Awesome Sauce (the spicy type :awesome: )

EDIT: I think I managed to decipher some of the other song names (we may already have these, but oh well). There were a few I couldn't make out, and I added dashes ( - ) for any missing letters:

Akunurde (?)

Great E--? (Expectations? Evaluations?)

Alien Radio

H-- --- ----- ------

Arabesque

Lucky Sevens

Harmony

Wandering Star
