On quick looking though the magazine, there doesn't appear to be anything other than the review.

3 out of 5 stars ain't bad.

3 fucking stars, you kidding me!!!!

Well, they criticized his voice for not being able to carry the weight of the lyrics, which shouldn't be a problem for most people here (who have established that they like Martin's voice), so I find this review encouraging rather than upsetting. After all, the rest was quite positive.

Suppose 3 out of 5 isn't bad, they don't seem like a very Coldplay friendly magazine.

thanks Dave :nice:

A very typical critique... "I know Saint Peter won't be calling my name" on Yes?

LOL, Dumbass

3 out of 5 is what X & Y got on Rolling Stone review -

And taking aside what the band says, X & Y was fucking awesome!!!

So, it's not a bad review!!!

Can't wait to hear the album though!!! That way I can make my own review!!!

thanks for that !

they might have made a mistake !

He got the lyric quote wrong (he meant 'Viva la Vida') so he can't've spent that much time with the record. Personally, I think Chris's voice isn't weedy at all, it's definately developed over the records.

'Strawberry Swing' sounds great.

On another note, I really hate it when music journalists get stuff wrong, especially when it's something easy to find out. One reviewer from the Daily Mail once referred to Sigur Ros as "the Norweigan duo".

Also UNCUT is a magazine that rarely puts someone on the cover who was making music later than about 1990. It's basically, Lennon, the Clash, Pink Floyd, the Smiths, Bowie, Led Zeppelin, etc.

Well if he can get the lyrics mixed up with the song titles, I'm not too sure we can take this too seriously. But giving X&Y 4 stars and VLV 3 stars is enough to tell me that they shouldn't be trusted.

x & y = 4 lol i only remember 2 songs of that album obviously its a shit magazine i dont care.

I'm with you Semy.

I know we haven't heard the whole album, but 4 songs I've heard tell me it's miles better than X&Y already. So many people here love it, I'm not saying it's a bad album, I loved it too...but compared to the new stuff...I just don't see how anyone could see VLV as a step backwards.

Does anyone else get the feeling that Lovers In Japan/Reign of Love (whether or not it's what we heard on Grey's the other day) is especially beloved by critics, and might be the most underrated track on the album? I think 42's gonna get a lot of press, obviously, because of its hype, COL will b/c cause it's so dark, VH and VLV cause they're the early singles, Strawberry because its got some "daring" African influence...but somehow I see LOJ/ROL sneaking in there and being one of my top, top tracks.

It might be a plot, those 4 songs which have been leaked so far are the good tracks on the album, which the rest of the tracks complete and utter crap ;)

But it's unlikely

I'm afraid that many publications will rate this album lower than X&Y, recalling that they overhyped that album... I'm sure plenty of the journalists that gave X&Y 4 or 5 stars regret it now.

I think so too, I've only heard good things.

There's an NME review on Wednesday (though they will almost definitely give it a good review) so will be interesting to see what they say.

It depends on who gets the job of reviewing the album, if it falls to someone who hates coldplay and all that they stand for, than it might not be a good review.

7/10 is my bet

You think? I'm thinking 8 at least.

I hope it's 8 at least, that's what X&Y got and they've already said some pretty nice stuff about the album.
