Its because Violet Hill fades in while Viva La Vida is still fading out, so both songs probably lose 5 seconds each.

 

I was kinda expecting '42' to be a bit longer.

Yeah, remember during the KROQ interview, they played Viva la Vida and it faded into Violet Hill and Chris said it wasn't suppose to do that.

I agree with Semy, I'd hoped 42 would be something mad like...well, not quite 42 minutes exactly but at least something like, oh I don't know, 6 or 7 minutes. Just mad mad mad freaky madly brilliant song that is just freakin awesome.

yeah I too was hoping for 42 to be some kind of epic coming at you from everywhere and not letting up type song...which is sort of what they pitched it as. if its really just shy of 4 minutes i wonder how theyre going to do the three parter thing without it seeming like each part is rushed.

but yeah, 42 was supposed to be epic, and this is obviously just a normal length song, although thats certainly not saying it will be anything but great.

It could be a mistake or a typo *fingers crossed for 6 minutes+*

42 should be 42 minutes

that woudl be pretty damn epic
