Guest howyousawtheworld
The Football Association's board has decided to abstain in the vote for the presidency of Fifa. Sepp Blatter, the current head of football's world governing body, is being challenged by Qatari Mohamed Bin Hammam, the president of the Asian Football Confederation. But the FA has chosen not to vote after allegations of corruption against Fifa in recent months. The presidency vote will take place on 1 June. In a statement, the FA said: "The FA board has today [Thursday] agreed to abstain in the vote of the presidency of Fifa. "There are a well-reported range of issues both recent and current which, in the view of the FA board, make it difficult to support either candidate. "The FA values its relationships with its international partners very highly. We are determined to play an active and influential role through our representation within both Uefa and Fifa. "We will continue to work hard to bring about any changes we think would benefit all of international football." Continue reading the main story The [Fifa] ethics committee is already alerted and alarmed - they are not just lying on the beach Sepp Blatter Fifa president Two Fifa executive committee (ExCo) members were suspended from voting in the bidding for the 2018 and 2022 World Cups following allegations they had offered to sell their votes. More corruption claims concerning a further six ExCo members were made last week by former FA chairman Lord Triesman and the Sunday Times. While England won a meagre two votes in its bid to host the 2018 World Cup, Qatar was successful in its bid to stage the 2022 tournament but its team has been accused of paying bribes to win votes. Fifa has launched an investigation into the allegations but they have cast a shadow over both Blatter, 75, and Bin Hammam, 62. The latter was an influential figure in securing the 2022 World Cup for his country. Before the FA took its decision to abstain, Blatter had stated: "I think it is a little bit strange when the number one association in the world, i.e. the FA, have two candidates in front of them and cannot make a decision which one to support." Blatter, who is aiming for a fourth term as Fifa president, also stated that Fifa is to interview a whistleblower concerning the allegations made about the Qatar bid. "We have organised and the newspaper have agreed we will bring this whistleblower to Zurich and then we will have a discussion, an investigation," said Blatter. Asked if the decision to award the 2022 World Cup could be reversed if the bribery claims were found to be true, he answered: "This is an idea circulating already around the world which is alarming. "Don't ask me yes or no, let us go step by step." Blatter added: "We must know if the allegations are true or not true or unproven. If they are not true, then this case is over. "Then we will see which instrument will work. It is of paramount importance that we have this situation clarified on the 27th [May]. "The [Fifa] ethics committee is already alerted and alarmed - they are not just lying on the beach - and the members will come for the congress and can convene at very short notice." http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/13451177.stm  People will say sour grapes but those people are in denial about the way FIFA is running itself. I think the FA have to be much stronger about this. Even try to conjure up support from other national football federations to form a breakaway organisation. Highly unrealistic though but they have to work hard to prove these allegations.

Qatar getting the World Cup was one of the most embarassing moments in the history of football. No passion, no heritage, no fanbase - nothing. But it's fat cats has the money which is most important to Blatter and co.  It's such a state that the world's most popular sport can be run in this manner and yet many people are just turning a blind eye to it. Even at the on simple levels FIFA's influence has been detrimental with their refusal to bring in some basic technology to stop the basic and embarassing errors made by referees on the field and all because of Blatter's reluctance to move football forward into the digital age. What's important to him and those corrupt idiots that surround him is keeping their pockets full with cash. It's a real shame that not one worthy candidate put themselves forward for the FIFA Presidency to bring about proper change to the organisation. mc_squared
Rooney at centre of Twitter row after offering to fight a 'fan'   Wayne Rooney was caught up in a Twitter row after offering to fight a 'fan' who abused him on the social networking site. The footballer told a user 'I'll put u asleep in 10 seconds' and told him to come down to his training ground to see him. And today he attacked Piers Morgan on the site branding his show 'boring' after the television host accused Rooney of a 'transfer u-turn'.   Twitter fury: Wayne Rooney, pictured right giving Chelsea supporters the V-sign, threatened to put a 'fan' to sleep on the social networking site  The 25-year-old said he wanted to leave Manchester United earlier in the season - days before dramatically signing a new contract. After his Twitter outbursts the controversial England international risks the wrath of the FA who have fined other players for remarks on the site. Rooney reacted with fury after being called 'a fat whore' and an 'ugly lil nonse' by a 'supporter' User 'sam-oldham-LFC' told him: 'Rooney ya fat whore ill smash ya head in with a pitchin wedge an bury ya with a ballast fork ya fat ugly lil nonse'.  Twitter: Wayne Rooney attacks the 'fan' - and then has a dig at television host Piers Morgan Rooney responded: 'haha u know were I train every day kid come and do it good luck'. Within minutes 'sam-oldham-LFC' had written back to Rooney saying 'snd ill be down tomorrow lad in me twin turbo nissan micra'.  The fiery striker replied: 'I will put you asleep within 10 seconds hope u turn up if u don't gonna tell everyone ur scared u little nit. I'll be waiting.' The Manchester United centre forward has courted controversy this season by swearing into a camera during a win over West Ham and appearing to flick a V-sign at Chelsea supporters during a recent win. Last weekend he shaved all the hair off his chest apart from a number '19' and posted the picture on Twitter after his club won a record-breaking 19th league championship. Â Re Qatar. i'm not getting my hopes up over anything. Â Re Rooney. *facepalm* i should really stop reading his twitter. i usually like to judge a footballer based purely on their on field talents. but some of the crap he says on twitter makes me cringe. Prince Myshkin
Another reason why I like Venky's. Wolves were selling tickets at stupid prices, as they usually do, so the club bought all the tickets and sold them at £13 cheaper, directly from our club, out of their own pocket. You'd imagine this was good enough, but today they also decided to throw in a £10 voucher to be spent on the concourse on anything but alcohol (which is understandable, as they can't be seen to promote alcohol and given they are Indian, this may be on religious grounds too). They don't have to do any of this since we would have sold out anyway, and the newest voucher gesture was made well after we had sold out our tickets, so it's not to entice more people to go. They've had some great offers since they came in charge, aimed at a club who already have cheap tickets - see some of the offers before they bought the club. Prices are still at the same now as they were in this news story, and this season are only heading towards a 'nominal' increase (http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/2443013/Blackburn-Rovers-slash-season-ticket-prices-to-10-a-match.html)

The England international told a user: 'I'll put u to sleep in 10 seconds', after being threatened by them. Ferguson suggested Rooney and his teammates - including Rio Ferdinand who has almost one million followers - could be forbidden from using the site.   Twitter ban? Sir Alex Ferguson, right, hinted that his players could be banned from using the social networking site after Wayne Rooney had an angry confrontation with a 'supporter'  The forward later claimed that the threats were not to be taken seriously and dismissed it as 'banter'. Team-mate Darron Gibson took himself off Twitter after barely two hours last month when he received abuse from United fans. Ferguson confirmed the club were looking at how best to solve the problems but the 69-year-old simply does not get why people use the site.  'I don't understand it to be honest with you,' he said. 'I don't know why anybody can be bothered with that kind of stuff. How do you find the time to do that? There are a million things you can do in your life without that.
