Anyway, as far as the biggest clubs are concerned, "local" fans became unimportant years ago.

It's all about TV money and sponsorship nowadays.

Matches between all the big teams in Europe would always sell out, whether the fans came from near or far.

There'll always be enough people willing to pay extortionate amounts to watch their teams play in massive games.

It wasn't so long ago that the idea of playing one EPL match per season in Asia was seriously being discussed.

there's a thing called the theory of diminishing returns (or marginal utility). the more you get of something the less you appreciate it. the first season of this super league would be awesome and everyone would love it then as the years roll on people will stop appreciating it as much and it will become just another league. there's a reason why competitions like champions league are as prestigious as they are. it gives the fans a chance to see a match up that might only happen once every few years. a match up between man utd and barca is much more mouth watering than man utd v chelsea will ever be. why? cos it only happens once in a blue moon whereas we're guaranteed at least two man utd chelsea matches every year. you start doing that with man utd barca and that will lose its integrity as well.

 

same deal with the world cup. if we had that every summer i highly doubt it would have the hype and excitement that it generates every 4yrs.

of course it wouldn't be bad at all but what i'm trying to say is that it wouldn't be as great. it's like when a band reunites after a few years. even if they're pretty average they build up much more hype simply because people have been deprived of it for so long.

i think emirates and stamford bridge might be a little different looking next season. like i mentioned before, i feel very bad for supporters of both clubs. i have great respect for both but there is something fundamentally wrong with them.

Rovers ticket prices set to be cheapest in the football league next season.

Not bad for Premier League and a team Sam Allardcye isn't managing.

Would be nice to break the top ten whilst playing some decent football, which we haven't done since 2007/08 season. Safety is priority once more though, of course.

You need a couple (just a couple) of proper quality players again. The likes of Bentley and Bellamy while not world class were certainly class enough for Blackburn and certainly quality. I'd like to see Blackburn do well again.

 

I don't know where you need to strengthen the most but good luck to them in the summer. I think Steve Kean has done a decent job but needs a couple of proper good players in the summer.

Yeah, something along those lines would be great for us. We need to keep Jermaine Jones if possible, since he's replaced Savage from those days, a creative midfielder to replace Tugay from those days and then a striker who certainly doesn't have to be a world beater, just who can finish. With Hoilett and Olsson we can actually create chances again, not that Fat Sam ever wanted to utilise them. Or the midfield for that matter.

 

If Samba goes we don't even need a replacement of his quality given the other people in that position we have.

 

I really think Kean can be a decent Premiership manager. He might fail, but he's done better than most people realise - and that includes the majority of our fans. He's had 3 bad games in charge. Allardyce's last 3 included two worse than I've seen under Kean - the 7-1 v United and getting beat by 10 man Bolton.

It's rare anyone succeeds after leaving Blackburn Rovers, though that is because we can easily build our team around individuals.

Champions league qualification and a good run in the domestic cups. That would be lovely. Tough but it's a goal worth chasing. The team will need some class signings because the reality is still that the current squad just isn't quite strong enough. Also the fact Liverpool haven't ever been to the new Wembley (they haven't even come close to the new Wembley) shows how bad they've done in the cups since 2006 so that has to be a priority.

Seems a fair goal to aim for.

I reckon they'll get fifth in the league. Very good shout at a domestic final.

I'll be intrigued to see how Liverpool start next season. Other than 2008 I can't ever remember a period where they had a good start to the season. 2002 they had a great start and then they went on a horrible run of form which that team and Houllier never really recovered from. They've been very slow starters in recent years which has often set the tempo for their season. They have to get off to a good one next season!

While I wouldn't put money on it, I could even see Liverpool threatening for the title next season, so yes I can definitely see them getting Champions League. Of course they had some commanding performances towards the end (19 goals in 4 games or something?) as well as a few blips, I think after the break they will come back much stronger and more organised, and while the team has weaknesses I really don't think that squad is any worse then Man United's.
