I'm not that surprised, Sunderland don't look quite as strong as last season but Stadium of Light is a tough place to go, and Arsenal needed to bring their top form to at least get a draw. They really didn't bring that.

We REALLY need some sort of sarcasm sign over here.

Ah I thought you were genuinely surprised when you wrote "you read it right" but now realise you meant the Own Goal.

Yeah, I thought it could create some confusion after I wrote it.

Anyway, I think Wenger will be sacked if Arsenal loses the NLD.

I don't think he'll be sacked this season at all and it'll only happen in the summer if the remains of this season is an absolute catastrophe (Finish outside the top 6 and presuming they are now out of the CL) but I do think they'll at least give him another transfer window and a significant amount more money to re-build the squad. Although from what I've heard the money is there, he just isn't using it.

I doubt they'll beat Spurs, but in particular it would be incredibly unfair to sack him for losing to one of the best teams in the league, derby game or not.

He has just been stubborn and awkward, I think though that this horrid season so far and defeats like the 8-2 vs United have made him aware that his philosophy needs to be updated. As I said he has the money but he never uses it, fearing losing respect of 'buying' a title or cup, but really he has no choice now. He is way too patient until it's too late, when he had Fabregas and Nasri he didn't see the need for backup, then suddenly it's panic buying, and even through the last transfer window he still hasn't attempted to bring in world class to replace them (No transfer rumours, offers, etc).

And now he has Van Persie, who he needed to get signed on paper for a new contract at the start of this season as he only had 2 years left, Arsene said "We have plenty of time" and basically hasn't done anything since, they haven't offered him a new contract and it could easily come to the summer transfer window and he'll be off to Real Madrid. 2 years is plenty of time to come to a contract agreement for most players, but not for your superstar, who also happens to be peaking while nearing the end of his career, and you can't even offer European football (Possibly).

Like Rafa Benitez, Wenger has been so stubborn, but he still has time to turn it around, and I think or hope that he will.

Arsene Wenger IS Arsenal. He built the club as we know it now. The Emirates Stadium might as well be called the Arsene Wenger Stadium because without his foresight and incredible years of success at Highbury they would not be in that magnificent stadium. But the lack of trophies and the unbelievable fact that players like Djourou are still at that club have deservedly led to some asking questions about his management. Of course he shouldn't be sacked but I remember saying it at the beginning of the season and that was that this season was a MASSIVE year for Wenger. Arsenal fans are getting really tired of the same old story happening year in year out. Out of all the cups come March/April and only fighting on to stay in the Champions League places. There is no doubt there is some incredible talent at Arsenal. Jack Wilshere is perhaps the most talented and technically gifted English footballer in over 20 years. Robin Van Persie is just world class and despite his performance on Wednesday, Thomas Vermaelen is a fine defender. But then that is balanced out with really average players like Johan Djourou, Andriy Arshavin (it's incredible to think he was quality at one point) and Tomas Rosicky (again was quality but has outstayed his welcome at Arsenal by two years). That just scratches the surface.

On their day with a fully fit squad Arsenal are still a very good football team. Yes injuries have played their part but that's where Arsenal's problems have arisen. Absolutely no depth. There's plenty of players in that Arsenal team who would not satisfy Premier League relegation battlers. It's up to the manager to buy and shift on these players and Wenger is at fault. No one knows the situation at board level. I think it's 50/50 as to whether Wenger will still be managing Arsenal next season. I hope he stays on but an overhaul of that squad is desperately needed. He's a great manager and the Premier League would be a poorer place without him. Anyone with a sane mind would still rather have him as a manager of their club than someone like Harry Redknapp, who is doing a fantastic job but is just having his moment in the sun.

Well if you look at the players he has brought in, the likes of Gervinho and Chamakh (Who was free but still, initially looked great but has disappointed) his knack of bringing in quality players doesn't seem to be what it was 10 years ago. That will concern the board as well.

Pompey are now bottom three after today's defeat and points deduction. The person who invented points deductions for teams in administration left The Football League in 2010 and the pr*ck should have never been part of them or having his idea approved in the first place.

How's this supposed to help teams get back afloat!?.

How about giving Man United a 10 points deduction for being a bunch of cocky pr*cks every week!?, it's just as a pathetic idea as taking 10 points away from a team just for entering admin!.

The way Man United are taking the Europa League seriously after all these Champions League years and "Thursday Nights on Channel 5!" mock-chanting is making me laugh. I personally won't give a cr@p if they win it and will laugh endlessly for weeks if they do, they're bound to take the lifting of it after the final seriously.

My home town play Spurs later on...

... I am more interested in our game against Brighton later on though ;)

We've made a good response to being pegged back by Brighton.

Leicester will win the FA CUP

I'm sensing, anger.

It's meant to be a punishment for taking the "easy" way out when you have large debts as you can try and get the creditors to write off some of the debt as getting something is better than nothing.

Blame it on Leicester City whom massively overspent and when ITV Digital went tits-up suddenly found themselves with massive debts and low income, entered admin, managed to get most of the debts written down (the largest was for the new stadium), so the football league bought in the points deduction as a punishment & also a warning to other clubs whom could do a Leicester and enter admin to get rid of debts

Your previous owners have not been that responsible david.

That was a good performance against Brighton today. But definitely one of the more bizarre games I have seen of late. 3 own goals, a streaker.... Brighton imploded after Carroll's goal. That said Andy Carroll was fantastic today. Definitely MOTM. Downing had a good game as well. Good to see after last weeks really bad performance from him.

Brighton were doing okay until the second goal, then went to sleep from there only to allow Caroll to score due to sleepy defending, then imploded from there. I later tweeted "It's just a matter of how many goals Liverpool will score now"........ The own goals were all freak incidents, but they can not leave Anfield ashamed and concentrate on their promotion campaign. Last season's League 1 winning Brighton team is just as good as this season's one, and I thought they were going to be battling to beat the drop instead.

Still, although the scoreline flattered Liverpool a bit, this will defiently make Scumdiff more scared of them and if Liverpool were to play like that every week, they'd be higher than 7th in the league!.

That Leicester board spent almost as worse as Pompey have been these last few years.

They were giving players stupid wages considering what was coming in and are lucky to still be here.

I can see why the points dediction was brought in to punsih teams now you've explained the reasoning, but the amounts teams have been deducted over the years has been more than 10, it should always be 10. Leicester I'll definetly blame though and not Pompey, although their debts over the last 3 seasons have been publicised more than Leicester's at the time.

is wondering what we are gonna do with tevez now...

stick him in a kennel

Ah, the anonymous pundit-art that brightens ones day. Wherever you are, I tip my cap to you.

I heard the madrid players were complianing about the cold weather.

Anyway.. Espanyol are doing well in La Liga .....Barcelonas 2nd Team.. it will be nice to see them to have something to sing about.. Spanish football chants are quite funny...and they have quite a few..

Another day of TEVEZ

http://www.mcfc.co.uk/News/Team-news/2012/February/Carlos-Tevez-apologises-for-recent-conduct

Carlos Tevez has today apologised to all concerned for his recent conduct.

The striker returned to the football club last Tuesday, following a three month absence from duties, without permission.

Carlos said, “I wish to apologise sincerely and unreservedly to everybody I have let down and to whom my actions over the last few months have caused offence. My wish is to concentrate on playing football for Manchester City Football Club.”

Carlos has also withdrawn his appeal against the Club’s finding of gross misconduct which was due to be heard by a Premier League panel in the coming days.

He has since begun a training program designed to return him to optimum fitness.
