it didnt specify. I'm in Boston- 98.5 just said that they've changed the release date to the 12th!!!

albums in the uk are only released on mondays except for mega exceptions like oasis ( a thursday), shrek 2 ( a tuesday aka shrek 2sday)

More than likely they've got confused, they wouldn't change the date so close to release would they?

depends on when they were planning to ship them to the stores.

I've found that if its a release date in mid-week, albums can still arrive in the previous weekends delivery, meaning you have to be mega careful that it doesn't sneak onto the shelves. a quick mail to the stores advising the release was a couple of days earlier would then be possible.

i'm in the US...what the heck? i can't find anything about that.

i'm going to do some investigating myself, but I'll be QUITE happy if this is true!! i won't be able to get it exactly on the 17th anyway, so the 12th would be PERFECT!

How many of you are going to support Coldplay and buy the album anyway? I've heard the entire record on iheartmusic and I have a few of the songs, but I still want the record. It's only 10 dollars. People will buy the record no matter if they have the songs before-hand.

 

I'll prove what I mean. I'm a huge Red Hot Chili Peppers fan. Before Stadium Arcadium came out, the entire album was leaked and tons of people downloaded it. Flea was pissed at first, then he wrote a response saying someone told me it wouldn't matter.

 

To Warner Bros surprise - Stadium went to Number 1 on the billboard charts. The Chili Pepper's first number one.

 

Moral of the story - I would bet that even though Viva has leaked, nearly everyone who's even slightly interested in the record will go out and buy it.

Wow this is weird, I was listening to the radio and they played Viva La Vida (the song). The DJ then announced that we wouldn't have to wait much longer for the CD because it was being released this coming Tuesday. At the moment I thought the DJ was crazy since the album is supposed to be released on the 17th. Now I wonder if the US date was moved to this Tuesday the 11th??? :stunned:

I haven't heard this. I thought that most artists who move up the release dates due to leaking do it when the albums leak really early, like a couple months or so, which VLV didn't.

i think that it might hit store shelves in stores like target and FYE and record shops on the 12th if this is true, but all the preorders of physical CDs from amazon etc would probably still be shipped on the 17th like originally planned because it's too hard to change all that. that's what i would imagine, anyway.

 

yeah, i'm a bit skeptical without official confirmation about the change-in-date, but really it wouldnt surprise me at all. it makes sense, and i'm almost positive it's been done before for other bands in the event of a leak. i'm thinking early itunes release and early to store shelves if this is true, but i'm not believing anything until i can find the news SOMEWHERE online.
