Coldplay To Work With Anton Corbijn (Talk) For 'Viva La Vida' Video

Featured Replies

Coldplay are secretly shooting a ground-breaking new video on a Dutch beach with top film producer Anton Corbijn.

He is the man responsible for the brilliant Bafta-winning movie, Control, about tragic Ian Curtis from Joy Division. Anton has worked with Chris Martin and his bandmates on the video for their single Talk. His new brief is to make the best music video ever.

And he has the CV to suggest he can, with JOHNNY CASH, DEPECHE MODE, U2 and RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS among bands to have experienced his genius.

Chris said: “We’re trying an experiment with him. It could be a disaster, but it could be OK.”

Woah, awesome!

I really hope it turns out well :D

I wonder which song they're shooting it for? *Crosses fingers for Strawberry Swing*

if it's not like THP it's ok for me

and it should be strawberry swing.. i'm so in love with that song!!

ooooooh!

i hope it's strawberry swing too! that seems like it could be on a beach, doesn't it?

OOOH. i hope they shoot this in july somehow, because I'LL BE THERE!!

(nahh, i know they're touring the US then, so fat chance :P)

I think they already did it...

But i liked the Talk video, so I'm pretty excited about this news :)

maybe it's yellow part 2 :uhoh:

Strawberry Swing would be a great new single!!!

The fan base will grow bigger and bigger!

Yes!

i live in holland

and i live @ The beach!!!

great news!

not @ the beach...but you get my point :D

"Groundbreaking" ?!?! Hopefully it'll be more groundbreaking than an iTunes promo!

Anton :D

I'm more than positive, they can chose whichever song they want by me

well its great i like netherlands.

and they're shooting there wow that place its a heaven on earth.

i like tulips in holland.

they recorded one video in england and now another one in netherlands. Lovers in japan and strawberry swing i hope.

thanks for that. I doubt it's going to be a disaster. I mean, "groundbreaking" doesn't sound like it's going to be a disaster. *sigh* so modest.

I do hope they're not just trying to re-capture the "yellow" magic.

maybe it's yellow part 2 :uhoh:

haha hope not

i hope its not lovers in japan.

that should be shot in japan

It's gonna be LIJ, but Strawberry Swing would be amazing. The lyrics and the whole theme of the song would make an epic video.

But, I'm just wanting a Cemeteries of London video.

Also, where's the Viva la Vida video?

haha hope not

i hope its not lovers in japan.

that should be shot in japan

That's exactly what I was thinking.

I was thinking that the LIJ video should be kinda like The Killers Read My Mind vid or Gerling's Turning The Screws or something along those lines.

Edit - The Lovers In Japan video is being directed by Mat Whitecross wasn't it? So this cant be the vid for LIJ.

Yellow part 2

Ahh, I'm still laughing at that one. :laugh3:

They seem to be shooting a lot of videos, I can't wait to see them all!

So we should expect 2 new videos?? maybe they will release different singles in different countries...

I think the 2 videos are Viva la vida and Lovers in Japan, otherwise I'll vote for Strawberry swing or Lost!, too...
