because coldplay is such a good band and i dont want coldplay to tell the world that some people may of never heard them before or the coldplay hate fans to give me more shit at school saying coldplay are gay and plagerists. thats what im mad about. theyre songs are toooo good to be plagerized. every band has inspiration from everone but why does he have to say plagerize?

I'm soooooooooooooooooo sick of Chris and Coldplay saying in every single interview they have had that they are plagerists. Like The Hour with George, track by track Chris said evvvveerrrryyyy song was plagerized. Im sick of it.period

whoa! slow down u gotta take a chill pill :D

he's just honest! thats all it is.

he is the most modest person on earth and cant say good things about his songs, its the british upbringing, its a good personality trait, id rather he was extremely modest than extremely bigheaded and boastful any day of the week.

Let's face it...Coldplay ARE plagiarists!

....but then again, that means every band that has come since the Beatles, Bob Dylan, Zeppelin, The Who, etc. are plagiarists too (yes, even the brilliant Radiohead gets its inspiration from somewhere). Chris is just more honest about the fact that Coldplay get a lot of their influences from other bands. This is not plagiarism. Every band does this. It's actually a bit refreshing for Chris and co. to be honest about it when every other band tries to put on a 'we're the shit' front when other bands have done what they've done a MILLION times better.

The band's stand on plagiarism is this "we are the most enthusiastic but worst plagiarists out there, we'll try and copy anything, but we fail spectacularly. So we go and find a sound that is us" or something like that.

dude this is just the shit like how there are no new stories to be told, and everything is just rehashing or different way of telling the same story.

thats all he's saying. obviously a band is not plagerizing, but you know bands are saying to a song theyre listening to, "oh i like that, we should do something like that"

chris just jokes about it. instead of doing the nose in the air "we get our inspiration from" he says they plagerize everything. its his sense of humor. like someone said, no one really seems to understand this.

also, there have been a few pissed off threads from this poster. you need to chill dude. who cares what your friends say about them, they don't understand. chill

i'm not saying that coldplay's done it but... people even back in Beethoven's days were stealing music from each other. Shakespeare even stole parts of plays from other people. There's nothing new under the sun.

very wisely said, girl!

I remember Chris saying something like, "Most bands are reluctant to tell people who they steal ideas from - we're shameless in that respect". I think he said that on Storytellers :D

was guy, but yea that was great:)
