The Official "Glasvegas" thread!

Featured Replies

a thread for "glasvegas"

Formed in Glasgow, Scotland in early 2006.

I think they're alright. what do you think?

The only thing I know about this band is that Matt Bellamy recommended them in an interview so I've been dying to check them out, but Scottish stuff isn't so readily available in the States. Thanks for posting the videos! (Only "Daddy's Gone" worked; the other one was taken down.)

:laugh3: well they cant be everyone's taste

I managed to see them at Glastonbury to see what they are like, and my verdict is that they were very average, with nothing really setting them apart from other guitar-based bands around at the moment.

Also is the lead-singer shy as he said 2 things to the audience, a "thank you" after the first song and a "I think we better start that again" when they fucked up an intro, they didn't get the crowd on their side (which is a shame, as following Dead Kids's set it was boring)

Glasvegas debut album

61Acl0cM%2BwL._SL500_AA240_.jpg

1. Flowers And Football Tops

2. Geraldine

3. It's My Own Cheating Heart That Makes Me Cry

4. Lonesome Swan

5. Go Square Go

6. Polmont On My Mind

7. Daddy's Gone

8. Stabbed

9. SAD Light

10. Ice Cream Van

The "intro" page of their website is wonderful!

http://www.glasvegas.net/splash/

And i think that swish intro page beats the album hands down

I really like this band, and the album is great. Okay so its hardly the most cheerful music in the world, but songs like Geraldine are superb!

The only songs I know so far are Daddy's gone and Geraldine. They're really great, I'd love to hear the rest of the album as well but the cd isn't available in Germany yet. Anybody knows when it'll be released in Germany?

an OK band. i quite like Geraldine. But I prefer the other Scottish band, The Twilight Sad.

yeah i'm on the same boat as most people here. personally i quite enjoyed the album the first few times i listened. but i cant see myself going back again and again. they need to add some colour and depth to their music.

I've completely changed my opinion of this band. I now think they are really quite boring, and as usual the NME hyped them up beyond belief as if they were the new beatles.

When I look back at this thread I can't believe I acted so enthusiastically about them  I jumped aboard the goodship hype :(

I like 'em! Especially Geraldine which is class! Been a bit overly hyped by NME but don't they do that with everyone?

anyone else excited about their second album? i loved their debut so im dying to hear what they have in store for us in april. i've heard the first single but they're not much of a single band so i'm not really paying much attention to it right now.
