Ahh, blog journalism at its best.

She sounds really obnoxious as well. Like she knows all the shit there is to know about the world. :dozey:

Exactly! I don't care if she loves/hates Coldplay's album, it just annoys me that anyone with a blog can pose as some kind of expert.:p

I know! There's a difference between stating your personal opinion and just being a snobby arse and act so self-righteous.

She just seems so fake and she is just trying to be 'different' with her views. God people like that are annoying. They try too hard.

I didn't get past the first line!

I just some people don't know much about great music, that's all I can say.

Granted, X & Y is not my favorite Coldplay album, but they certainly are not a corporate sellout!

I think she's just upset that they are mainstream. If Coldplay were still playing at small venues and sell only 1,000 copies, i don't think she would be this mad.

I know people who stopped liking the band just because they became very popular.

Unlike most Coldplayers, I took the time to read the blog as it intrigued me. I'd imagine most long-time fans here would admit this album is no Parachutes or A Rush of Blood to the Head, however, it's far from rubbish. But I must give her credit. She did succeed in what most journalists aim for in the long run: garnering an audience.

It’s not worth the 10 minutes of your precious time that you’ll spend on coldplaying.com. I mean, listen to VLVODAAHF - for god’s sake - chat with other fans about the music. Just don’t read this.

:laugh3: :laugh3: :laugh3:

You're right.

Well, the author is too lazy or stupid to capitalize anything in his review, so I really don't think this is worth reading. I don't know why I bothered skimming it.

I don't even believe he ever liked Coldplay, since he makes all the same complaints (Radiohead-lite, corporate crap, etc.) that the hardcore haters use; he probably just made that up to get more people to listen to him...as if attracting more fans to read his rant is a good idea.

Besides..."Run"? He's scared of a CD? :laugh3:

Yeah, I read the whole thing too, just so I'd know what I was talking about.

I also know people who quit listening to the band simply because they were too popular. That's so silly...they're missing out on good music simply because they've identified as 'indie' and won't listen to anyone successful, even if they love them at first. They're missing out for all the wrong reasons! I was kind of sad that Coldplay wasn't my little secret anymore, but I was so proud of 'my boys' for garnering the appreciation they deserved.

It's ironic that some people don't want trends to dictate their lives, so they trun away from something popular...sounds to me like they're letting trends dictate their lives?;)

I couldn't agree more. Just because a band takes more of a mainstream approach doesn't necessarily mean their music is complete garbage. We all know it's no Parachutes or A Rush of Blood, but I think it was completely unfair of her to bash a band that doesn't sell less than 1,000 copies because no one knows of them.

At no point in the "review" did the idiot ever listen to X&Y or Viva la vida, it's a bunch of lame speculative crap that uses the fact he named is kids apple and moses as evidence that music he has never heard, is poor.

How much did she get paid to write this article:rolleyes:

because she shouldn't have got nothing:P

VIVA LA VIDA IS #1 IN THE WORLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is the best album so far, so If you are going to trash Coldplay at a Coldplay forum, Then GET THE FUCK OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

miss paltrow - gwenny ono, as i so affectionately refer to her - marked the end of an era. no longer was chris martin concerned with such trivial topics as activism and politics, only HIS activism and politics. the driving force behind coldplay’s creative flow had packed up its bags and stole away in the night, never to return. “x & y” was created and released in a hurry to fight back the criticism and incredulity that stood between coldplay and a third album

Yeah, blame it on the singer's wife, because he's the ONLY one in the band to make decisions. :dozey: It's not like there are three other members [she probably doesn't even know their names!] who also make decisions. Coldplay are like a democracy, even though Chris is in the spotlight, everything is fair between them.

don’t think i’m making this shit up. talk to some coldplay fans, young and old. there is a great divide between “rush of blood” fans who won’t lower themselves to listening to post-x-&-y rubbish, and post-x-&-y fans who aren’t intelligent enough to fully grasp an album like “a rush of blood.”

I'M a 'post X&Y fan' and I came on here after I bought X&Y, but that does not make me stupid. I am intelligent enough to understand and even appreciate AROBTTH. AND I get along just fine with the people on this site who like AROBTTH more than X&Y, even though I adore X&Y.

And I'm sorry that she didn't get her AROBTTH part 2 that she so deseparately wanted! Coldplay can never win. When they do something different people hate it and think they sold out and blame Gwyneth, who probably has very little influence on Coldplay save maybe Chris' lyrics. But if they were to stick to a particular formula people would call them dull and uninspiring.

This just made me angry and the 'X&Y fans not intelligent' thing kind of hurt. I'm too sensitive, I know.

Wow, I must be some kind of mutant anomaly. I mean, I adore "A Rush of Blood To The Head"...although I must admit, I adore "Viva La Vida and etc etc etc" too, perhaps even more. Yes, I do dislike X&Y, but I think this latest album proved that Coldplay could get over their "A Rush of Blood To The Head" hoodoo and could still make great music.

I try to respect all opinions....but I certainly don't agree with them....and this is one to which I am staunchly opposed.

Well done.

Couldn't have said it better myself.

$20 says that this person played the album once while listening to MTV's The Hills in the background to formulate her 'unbiased opinion'.

Edit: Nevermind, I just wasn't in a 'Viva la Vida mood' when I made this post.

Yeah she probably pretends to listen to Radiohead and underground indie music just to look interesting. :P

First of all, the blogger is female. Secondly, I usually frown upon people who don't display proper grammar and/or spelling on the internet, just because they don't have to or are too lazy. It's just ingrained in me to use punctuation, grammar and spelling. However, poor grammar and spelling + no intelligence for me at least, is bad.

I give her credit for expressing her opinion and a negative opinion about something that most people have stated a positive opinion about and agree with her that the last two CD's do not compare to their first two. X&Y and Viva la Vida are more simple and not as distinguished as their first two. After hearing X&Y a countless amount of times, it mostly sounds the same and doesn't have a lasting appeal like the first two albums. For Viva la Vida, the album as a whole hasn't grabbed me and I haven't given it enough listens to fully judge it, but that it hasn't grabbed me to make me want to listen to it more shows that my opinion is not all that high on it. I like every other song on it it. The others, are just OK.

I take exception to making fun of Chris and Gwen for naming his children unique names by implying that no one else names their children such names is classless. It's not like he named his daughter a vulgar name, such as Bitchy or his son an inanimate object, such as Rock or Grass. Yes, "Apple" is an inanimate object, but it's something sweet, nutritious, and has a pleasant sound. As for Moses? There's nothing wrong with that. She has a bit of growing up to do still, just like I do but have done as well.

I tried talking to her sensibly. Don't beat a person with a stick when you have a carrot.

It's a blog dear. It's free. Why anyone would read a blog that's simply weak opinion is another valid question.

Viva La vida is a great album, and COLDPLAY fans don't want to hear you ramble on:veryangry2:

And if you don't like COLDPLAY why do you have an acount with coldplaying.com?

I love all their albums, but specifically AROBTTH and VLV.

I've been a part of a few messageboards, and there are always people who say that the band USED to be good and they're sell outs, criticizing them for their latest album,etc.... They're entitled to their opinion...and I'm sure NO ONE will be swayed by her stance on not actually buying the CD. There's actually no valid reasoning in her statement in reference to any of the music on VLV. All I can remember in her statement are attacks on Chris' wife, his children's names, and her own personal step by step account on when she bought AROBTTH.

I've been a fan since I heard "Yellow" playing on sattelite radio around 2001ish and I think VLV is a step up from their previous albums. I particularly love where their headed in their music.

Oh and I LOVE MUSE!! My FAVORITE BAND!! but, a lot of people think Black Holes and Revelations was crap......so.........yeah. Everyone has their own opinion.
