August 7, 200817 yr Author Shiver - 19 vs Spies -4 The Scientist - 13 vs Warning Sign - 10 need 2 more (although it dosen't matter really) Ps if you guys want to go on record saying that songs like Clocks are the weaker tracks and that the Hardest Part "kicks ass" then feel free.
August 7, 200817 yr They are all good. I love THP, and clocks, and warning sign... You shouldn't have to choose sides between the singles and regular album tracks.
August 7, 200817 yr Author Final results (game ended early due to rain) Shiver beats Spies 19-4 The Scientist beats Warning Sign 13-10
August 7, 200817 yr Author First Division Final & Current Match ================ Clocks vs Lovers In Japan Politik vs Viva La Vida These 2 Games are over at END of 25th vote of this thread. my picks: Clocks Viva La Vida
August 7, 200817 yr lovers in japan Viva la vida! First one was mediumly hard. However, the second one has two of my fab songs!
August 7, 200817 yr Shiver - 19 vs Spies -4 The Scientist - 13 vs Warning Sign - 10 need 2 more (although it dosen't matter really) Ps if you guys want to go on record saying that songs like Clocks are the weaker tracks and that the Hardest Part "kicks ass" then feel free. It's just that the AROBTH singles are so samey and dry compared to the album tracks, but once again of course that's just my opinion. BTW I will have to agree with you regarding THP, it's one of the worst things they have put on an album...and I'm not stretching it.
August 8, 200817 yr wow, two epic matches. Clocks vs. Lovers in Japan. Clocks, despite being an obvious favorite, drew a difficult bracket in the tournament. Nonetheless clocks managed close and controversial victories against 'don't panic' (8-7; winning vote decided by yours truly) and 'a rush of blood to the head'. But so far, clocks has yet to win by more than five votes, and with much dissapointment accompanying these wins, will don't panic and AROBTTH fan's turn against the heavyweight? The contender Lovers in Japan has had a far easier road, easily beating lightweights like 'life is for living' and 'I ran away'. But despite being a very young song, lovers is a possible fourth single (clocks was a 3rd single) and is one of the largest most anthemic, epic sounding songs on VLVODAAHF's. With rythmic piano throughout, it is the "clocks" of viva la vida. Lovers in Japan is an underdog, but an upset here wouldn't be unprecedented. Politik vs. Viva la Vida Our other matchup tonight (or today, depends on where you live) is one of biblical proportions. If there was a countdown of fan faves, politik would surely appear somewhere in the top 3. Despite being a simple two chords throughout most of it, the piano bridge into it's stunning coda is not to be underestimated. While it's no single, even I am amazed how hard it is to NOT vote for this song after listening to it's epic climax. and it has an enormous following of allegiant coldplayers. Viva la vida is also NOT unpopular with the fans. It's the obvious single chock full of pop sensibility. but while the instrumentation may be disconcerting for rock fans, the song seems to do so many things right. It's #1 throughout most of the planet, and won handily against the high-seeded "yellow", but will fans lift it to a semifinal throne? or will "outer space?" trump the song that rules the world? my votes....later.
August 8, 200817 yr Hey look. I love The Hardest Part. Does that make me a bad fan of Coldplay's music? I don't think so. It's Coldplay's work after all, and a lot of people like it. Of course I love songs like Amsterdam, A Rush of Blood to the Head and For You, but I still love The Hardest Part :) We should not categorise Coldplay's songs. They're all Coldplay songs after all. Clocks Viva la Vida
August 8, 200817 yr He not saying that good coldplay fans don't like "the hardest part". He was only incredulous that you would prefer it to "clocks". Personally I think "the hardest part" is a bit underrated, but "clocks" is sheer brilliance.

That was a great little review thing! Damn, this is really hard... Clocks vs Lovers In Japan Politik vs Viva La Vida
August 8, 200817 yr halftime! after 13 votes, Clocks:7----- lovers in japan:6 Politik:5-----viva la vida: 8 Neck and Neck!
August 8, 200817 yr Clocks v Lovers In Japan That is a hella tough match-up...I think they are both great, great songs but...the climax to 'Clocks' means it just edges out 'Lovers In Japan' for me. Politik v Viva La Vida This is a much easier match-up. Personally, I think 'Politik' is greatly over-rated. Sure the sweeping final minute/minute and a half are amazing (possible one of the best musical "moments" Coldplay have produced) but the three minutes or so before that is just turgid. Hammering away at two chords, uninspired lyrics, just really not all that good. 'Viva La Vida' is more-or-less perfect, the clear winner for me.
August 8, 200817 yr By the way, is there going to be like a big Coldplay top 50 list or something at the end? I've kind of lost track of where a load of my favourites have gone. Is 'See You Soon' still knocking about?
