Coldplay heard in the Olympics

Featured Replies

I was watching some diving montage or something and they were playing "Life in Technicolor" in the background...I got all excited for a second lol, I thought it was an odd choice, but a good one nonetheless.

LOL I JUST SAW THAT!!! i was looking for the "Random Coldplay Thoughts" thread to post it but then i saw this! anyway, it was supposed to be an interview with michael phelps's mom...i didn't hear anything anyone was saying.. only listening to the amazing song!

They were interviewing a barber in Beijing (he was giving haircuts to young boys right in the square - ultra-short buzz cuts, with Olympic designs in them..) - a few days ago, and the Chinese version of Clocks (by the 12-String Band) was playing in the background..:)

Impossible...they were banned in China!

But...it was in background in a montage tv advert or during the real olympic games?

Hey! I saw it first! I posted it in the beijing olympics and random coldplay thoughts threads before anyone else....so ha!

It was some montage, I don't think it was the live games. It was something NBC was doing as the soundtrack of the Olympic games, don't think it was an ad though.

it was something to do with phelps. Also during the us swim trials they played LIJ and Viva

haha *grins* I suppose they've come to a truce.

I just caught it.. the segment with Michael Phelps' mum (how dreamy is he btw)

and thenn I saw this thread. funny timing (:

Haha, I just saw it too! And I know.... he is SO incredible. :cheesy:

Huh...and I was just thinking there was no way that would happen, after hearing some random pop song at one of the games. I guess it did anyway, sorta.

i saw it too, i was going to post it the instant i saw it , but you know how those things go

They were playing a dramatic story on Phelps and his Olympic journey and his quest for 8 gold medals, and it was synchronized with Life in Technicolor. The scenes changed along with the music. It was pretty cool.

Coldplay are not banned in China, only Spies is :)

And I've seen a montage in the Italian TV with Strawberry Fields in the background :wacky:

its the BBC using it as background music, i think. just been for lunch at work, and they have bbc news 24 on the big screen. there was an Olympic summary going on and LIT was on that

One of the BBC's jingles is very much like the piano at the start of Lovers In Japan.

not to do with the olympics but i heard life LiT used in full on skysports program premiership years 07/08...i think we will be hearing more and more LiT in montages

And as I mentioned in the Olympics thread, just after Nicole Cooke crossed the finish line in the cycling, I could clearly hear Viva La Vida blaring out over the PA.:D

in my quest to see everything on NBC related to michael phelps...i somehow missed this  :P

i saw a bunch of interviews with his mom, though i feel like if LIT was playing, i would TOTALLY pay more attention to that than the mother of a geeky-yet-adorable swimmer :P

why are they banned in China but they still played in hongkong in 2006.

I HEARD THAT!!!!

i seriously thought i was crazy, i'm so glad i'm not! :D

i was like, "is that? noooo it can't be."
