I sit on an album for about a month before I feel I've fully appreciated it and can move on.

Heh, you only need 5 albums- that gives you two months an album.

But yeah, some of us are compulsive new music listeners. When I have the time and access, I like to go through about 3 new (to me) albums a week. It's a bit of an addiction - I get jittery and bored when I haven't heard anything new for about a month.

1. Coldplay (Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends)

2. Elbow (The Seldom Seen Kid)

3. Keane (Perfect Symmetry)

4. Radiohead (In Rainbows)

5. Death Cab For Cutie (Narrow Stairs)

Runner ups: The Kooks (Konk), The Verve (Forth), Greg Laswell (Three Flights From Alto Nido {recommended by me strongly :)})

WOW!!! LOOK at all the new lists!!! Writting down a bunch of stuff Ive not had a chance to hear yet. There is so much to hear and so little time in a year to hear it all. It makes me wonder if the best album of the year 2008 is still out there waiting to be heard.

BRIGGS, I love your blog! Its inspired me to at least rate my music on rym* and write a short review about each. So far Ive written about 1 - 5. All though I dont always agree with youre choices (Fleet Foxes?), I really liked why you like their album so much and the things you had to say about it. Thanks you for the inspiration.

Jeff

^ Awesome! Glad you enjoy it. I know I don't write them like a music pro or anything...I just try to write honestly about why I think the album is good and what it means to me.

I think sometimes people get so caught up in trying to like "good" music. But sometimes it isn't the best music that you like the best.
