It was pretty incredible! The pictures don't actually show how close I was since my camera's so bad :veryangry2: When they first walked out I had to a) pinch myself and b) try not to cry. Part of me was very nervous that they might be a bit off, but they really sounded amazing and Chris seemed genuinely happy to be there.

Oh and about Will's microphone being loud: I didn't notice it during the rehearsal, except at the end of Viva la Vida during the "ooohs", which sounded a bit off. I was like "who IS that?" :P

Wow!!!! Your experience sounds so amazing! Thanks for posting all about it here. I'm definitely super jealous but also really happy that you got to go!!! :D

I wanted to post the second I got back last night, but I didn't have internet :(

I forgot to mention that right before Yellow, Chris said "that Jon Hamm sketch was brilliant"- they ended up deleting it! Poor Chris :P

I didn't get to meet them, alas. The closest I got was that the elevator accidentally stopped on the 6th floor (which is the SNL backstage). All of their equipment was piled up right in front of the elevator door, and there were roadies standing all around it... I considered running out of the elevator, but I was crammed into the back corner and couldn't move. ;)

What

have they done

to both Chris

and Jonny

and perhaps Guy in the last one

But definitely Chris + this airbrush = no no

Ya Chris looks weird!!!

All of those SNL pictures look like that, though. I thought the ones of Jon Hamm looked weird too.

That's the style of photos they also have for the promos.

All airbrushed and colored.

chris looks fine in the first one.

but he doesnt need airbrush

I don't think he looks "weird" its just a strange picture w/ the coloring...but i like it

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

Ok. Where can I watch Coldplay on SNL????? The videos aren't on youtube or the NBC website. GRrrrrrrrrr

"Barack Obama!"

-Chris Martin

Yes, thank goodness Chris is standing up and being counted (or not as non US citizen :) ) on this one. I've been 100% with him on this one for years. Unfortunately, I think the idea of a famous foreigner telling Americans how to vote in their elections often tends to produce the opposite effect to the one you want.

I'd be interested to see who Martin comes out in favour of in the forthcoming UK General Election. The Lib dems would be the obvious choice: I don't see how Martin could support either of the other two parties given the Iraq War, his views on liberty and general liberal views.

Political commentators have noted that these days, the Conservative Party in the UK is actually to the left of the US Democrats when you actually scruntinise their policies, but I'm sure Chris Martin isn't going to suddenly do the song to David Cameron's next election video!

thanks for the upload!

does anyone know why they played 3 songs? i've never seen any band play more than 2

The general consensus from everything that I've seen outside this forum was that they were awful. :uhoh:

VLV was a bit flat, but they picked it up I thought, obviously I'm in the minority.

I'm not sure, but I definitely wasn't complaining! I thought they were only going to play two during the rehearsal, so when they started setting up for a third song I got really excited :D

And regarding Chris endorsing Obama:

a)Chris did NOT sneak this stuff onto the show. He wore the Obama armband during the rehearsal too, I remember noticing it although I couldn't see the writing. So if anyone was wondering about that, it didn't appear to be spur of the moment.

b) No one should be that surprised, given his comment in Rolling Stone a couple of months back.

c) I think it's absolutely brilliant! There's no reason why he should keep quiet on current events if he thinks they're important.

Huh, really? I thought they were great! They definitely got better towards the end, but that's to be expected. Obviously they're the most confident with Yellow, so that song was the best. Maybe it didn't translate over TV as well? 'Cause it all sounded perfect in the studio...

Yeah, most of the reviews of the show said they were really bad. I'm with you though, other than VLV I thought they were great.

I think maybe the annual backlash has kicked in. There's a lot of negativity (well more so) towards them at the moment. Seems no-one has a good word to say about them.

Yeah, and I think VLV was better when I saw it in the rehearsal because Chris wasn't as nervous... I think we all know how nervous he gets on TV shows (MTV awards, anyone?). He seemed pretty scared during the rehearsal right before they started since he thought it was the real live show, which kinda proved it. Once they told him it was just a rehearsal, he seemed much more relaxed and the song sounded better.

You'd think he'd be used to it by now! :P
