haha, do we really think debs is the oracle? i'm not so sure myself, but whatever :P

i'm not so sure about the big package idea, but that's just me. if that's what it comes to, i'll obviously participate! i just think it would be kind of messy, mailing so many things to one private person, who then has to collect them all in a box or bag and go to the bakery and...what, fling them over the gate? leaving them in front of the gate isn't smart, i don't think. there's no door to knock on, just the alley with a garage door, two big windows on another side, and a gate to a carpark and entrance at the back, which is locked pretty much always, i would assume. besides, i get worried about them just SITTING out in the cold and the rain if the guys don't happen by the bakery for a few days. i feel like they'd get destroyed just sitting on the other side of the gate in a bag, and that would be really sad.

If all the postcards can be collected at the same place it will be pretty easy for anyone in and around London to deliver them to the band (of course probably not in person) the weekend of December 13th/14th. They will be around there then for sure.

One plan I made earlier as a suggestion before it seemed people were going to send them individually (with back-up plan):

1) Aim to have all postcards collected together by very early December. This will give any delayed ones enough time to arrive, and avoid the terrible mail times of mid-December. The further away people live, the earlier they should post.

2) One week beforehand, contact Debs, explaining what's been done (loads of Coldplay's biggest fans have made this incredible effort for them) and ask where in London they can be delivered to on that weekend, and at what time. Actually, I'd go one further and ask if they can be delivered to the Bakery, because that would just be incredibly cool, and would make a great photo for everyone on here to see their cards arriving there :)

There will DEFINITELY be people at the Bakery at some point that weekend, so if the deliverer is able to be flexible, they will be delivered.

IN THE UNLIKELY EVENT THAT IS NOT POSSIBLE!:

3) Through Debs again, arrange for someone to collect them (Hoppy, Vicki, anyone) from the postman/lady at the front of the o2 on any of the days of the gigs (Sunday 14th/15th/16th)

If someone's able to be flexible this is a certain way to get them delivered!!

(Just thought - Ian and Jen could deliver them at the Manchester gig also, couldn't they? Or another member at the other UK gigs?)

edit : ^ that plan sounds great !

giving all the postcards to someone from their crew seems like a good idea... but we'd have to make sure that they'll receive it :)

Phil? do the Phil stalkers know how to get to him?

What if we ask Oracle about this?:) We ask what's the most appropriate way so they'll get it for sure..wouldn't be bad I think.

it's definitely not impossible, it's just that everything has to go to plan for the personal-delivery way to work. by nature i tend to worry about things, so ignore me sometimes, but i just think the safest bet would be mailing direct.

1) we'd have to get our whole act together ASAP for them to be mailed and together by early december. and what happens to the straggling postcards that come late? they never get delivered?

2) debs can be notoriously slow at repling to emails and questions. i think we should tell her our plan by the end of this month.

3) i don't think we can DEFINITELY count on someone being at the bakery. sure, the guys live nearby and might stop around for a bit, but keep in mind that the bakery is a studio and a living room, not an officebuilding. it's small. debs almost definitely doesn't have an office there, and i highly doubt there's always someone there, sitting at a front desk. it's the band's personal HQ, from what i understand, but not the ACTUAL HQ. that's still EMI. most of the time, there's no one in it, i don't think, at least more than picking something up, dropping something off etc etc. most of the times people have been there, it's been perfectly abandoned. i don't think we can count on people ever actually being there, and i'm also wary about someone actually meeting someone there in person. that requires them to do work on OUR behalf, and i think they'd still like to pretend that the location of the bakery is a big secret.

and are ian and jen definitely meeting with the band in manchester, or are they just going to the concert as normal people? if they are, we can't count on them delivering the postcards. besides, venue security wouldn't let them in with a mail sack or box!

anyway, i REALLY have to go, but that's just my two cents. being a worrywart, i see lots of holes in the "deliver them personally" plans.

^ I'll boycott your posts, I'm getting too worried reading them :P just kidding..

she's just thorough and thinking through every possible scenario that may happen :D

I think that we should send the email to Debs soon... like in 2 or 3 days...

Wow, I've missed a lot.

I think we should try using all of the contacts we have now (Debs, Pete?, EMI), and see what happens. If none of them can help, then we'll figure out another way. Don't forget that we're aiming for a early/mid- December date, and it's only the beginning of October. We have plenty of time to explore all of the avenues we have...

1) It's plenty of time - 2 months away! Surely sea mail from Australia to the UK wouldn't take that long, and obviously people will be sending airmail, won't they?

2) Fair enough, let her know with more notice, and then get in touch nearer the time for a final arrangement.

3) Fair points. I'm not suggesting turning up at a random time in hope though. I'm saying find out in advance if it's possible. If not, offer to deliver them anywhere in central London that same weekend. That is surely impossible not to be possible!!

I'm not sure about Ian and Jen, other than I think they're going to the gigs. If you turn up well before the gig (easy for anyone on Sunday 14th at the o2, are any of the other UK gigs at the weekend?) it should be fairly easy for the staff to get a message to someone in the crew. And I'm saying this could also be arranged beforehand - just tell Debs they'll be coming.

It seems pretty straightforward to me, but if people are going to worry a lot about it, it'd be better just to send them individually I think.

I think that I'll read the thread again and post all the options in the first post

Haha, enjoy that! See you in a couple of years :P

I know :P

and I should be studying but I don't really want to :P

so it's a good excuse !

Ahhh, stop saying the word "studying"! It reminds me of the essays I need to write and the tests I need to prepare for!

Ok, the worring helps!!!! It makes us productive....

So, here's what i think..... maybe we should decide on the whole "postcard" thing <design, layout, general rules> in this next few days so that everyone can get started on their own postcard.

Also, send an appropriate message <i vote for Lore, coz it was her idea> to Debs, people at EMI, or even Pete..... anyone we know <and have a relyable e-mail> that can help with an address or help us with the delivery process.

So hopefully by the time Debs <or any of the above> replies that message, we'll know what to do, where and how the mailing should be, and evryone will have their postcards ready to send!!!!

;)

you said exactly what I suspected and said a few pages back. That the front entrance to the bakery is on agincourt and you said it was gated. This brings up a problem....if it's gated and locked, chances are if we even get an address for the bakery then perhaps the postman can't even get in to deliver mail. I bet they use a P.O. box for the bakery mail. :(

Offtopic, but... Regarding the PM EP release dates, I just have to ask: why does the US always get the albums LAST? Oh well, I'm sure it'll be on here the second it gets released on the 19th (most likely before that)... It's still annoying, though.

I haven´t been here since yesterday evening and I have no clue what this project is about, but I´ll try to help :P

I'm updating the first post to have all the info in just one place... but it might take a while since the thread is really long now :P

maybe we should stop posting for an hour or so, so you can catch up with all the previous posts.. or maybe we should be evil and post some more :sneaky: :P

Jeez, I've missed 25 pages of this, but damn...I'M IN! :P What a cool idea, you guys; I love it already =)
