Tell me when, where--I'm in!

This is a wonderful idea, and if we can get it done around Christmas/end of year, it'd be perfect!

I read through the whole thread...and here's my (unasked for)advice, based on what has come up so far:

--2 postcards max/person (1 from your city/country, and 1 homemade, if you'd like); I'm not that creative for ex, so I'd just find some Greetings from NJ, but maybe someone who lives in a little town that doesn't have official postcards would find it easier to make up one themselves)

--it'd be great if they could be mass-mailed to The Bakery, rather than the address at EMI, but umm I don't actually have a suggestion for this, unless we find out Bakery address. Or, hey, we could mail to the cafe next door hehe...or maybe someone who's visiting The Bakery can get look around for address. But all of us from all over sending it to one Londoner, and they taking bags of mail over to Bakery is a lot to ask for! Imagine if you'd get 100s postcards every day for 2months! (Unless you're sleeping with the mailman ;)haha) OR someone volunteers themselves;

--having some kind of logo(butterflies:flutterby::flutterby::flutterby:??) or/and making sure everyone puts Postcards from Far Away Project/coldplaying.com is a MUST

--everyone signing NAME, from COUNTRY (so the whole "from far away" thing comes across)

--maybe not the whole message needs to be in your own language, just maybe one same phrase that everyone agrees on; 'cause though Chris can manage to memorize how to say "Thanks for coming to the show" in any language, I doubt the guys are fluent in every language they could receive postcards from LOL

Ok, there's my 2cents

1 possible idea:

In order to stay with the theme, identify us as a group AND encourage creativity, how about all return addresses should just state : From Far Away. The actual postcard itself should identify what far flung place that is. (Whether purchased or created by sender)

I agree with mailing to the bakery but maybe they don't receive mail there.. we need to find it out

that's an important point... we discussed about making a little logo or something to put in the postcard

count me in! (with the news main site anyway :P)

Crikey! You've been busy!!

Think Postcards From Far Away Project is a brilliant idea.

1) Think that one person trying to deliver/post might be difficult/expensive, depending on how many people are involved. If we planned in advance, we could work out postage times for the countries involved and work out what days to post so that the cards all arrived around the same time.

We shouldn't need the full address, so long as we had a postcode for The Bakery. The Royal Mail tends to work off postcodes first address second.

BUT the latest picture in the Bakery thread shows a huge white metal shutter across the door, and no apparent letterbox. Which would suggest they don't receive mail there.

Might need an alternaitve

yeah.. I guess for south americans it's like 3 weeks... I'm not sure...

we should ask the oracle if they could put a mailbox in there :P

maybe i am naive, but...i saw yesterday that someone from this board already found the bakery...and when he/she lives in london...why can't he/she just go there, note the adress and...here we go!?

or isn't there any adress, house-number etc...

or we give to the oxfam-buddy: pete? or whats his name?

he will accompany them on their tour further on, right?

or or or...hmmmmm...difficult...

maybe we could do a kind of "postcards from far away project" and send them lots of postcards from everywhere... it'd be so cute :P

your ideas will be highly appreciated, guys!

I'll update this post

update #1

what we've got so far

we want to send postcards to the guys, inspired in Postcards from far away. it's a way to say thanks to the band and their crew for this fantastic year

when?

Maybe December, we want to make this in a great way so we'll take our time to do it

how many postcards?

1 or 2?... we still need to decide this

what do we need

- we need to know if everyone is agree with the project and also need ideas to improve it and make it great :D

- a little logo or something that could make the postcards a bit similar so they'll know that all the postcards are from the project

:stunned: how i didn't knew about this thread before?

i thought to gave them a bag with postcards from the cities of my region at Barcelona's concert, and i didn't do it ... :uhoh:

I wanna join this project, in fact i used to collect Postcards :nice:

great idea Lore

we could test the theory. if you send me a postcard, I'll tell you when it gets here.
