oh, and random info

possible VIP to look out for on Sat - Natalie Imbruglia. She's on the Key 103 breakfast show tomorrow morning (local radio, based just down the road from LCCC)

Edith Bowman will also be there. She mentioned it the other day :D

I am over from Canada and taking the train to Manchester from Wales the morning of(Saturday), what time do is a good time to arrive for frontish row?!?!

I gotta tip my hat to those folks who have travelled such distances to see coldplay, nice one folks!

Ok, folks, it's past midnight so we've now got just one day to go.

Incase the wait is too much, I thought I'd post a distraction...

1 day to go!!!

depending which direction you're headed, if someone's picking you up, I'd get them to park a 15/20 min walk away facing in the direction you need to go. then walk down to meet them. if they try & meet you near LCCC you'll end up stationary for traffic in ages.

I don't know how many thousand are attending LCCC, but traffic is always horrible after Man U home games

Thanks! We were actually discussing this the other day. We don't really know our way around Manchester though. Any suggestions where we should park to avoid the worst?

Time to get the party started... if my dinner companions get a bit peckish before the meal, here's some cheese to keep you going

See you there!

Hope the combination of the maze pic and the video that you are too young to remember () is enough for me to show my face tonight...

Not sure. I've never been in that direction when there's a concert on and its my first time at LCCC. still trying to work out what I'm going to do about parking. I was thinking of parking at work (which unfortunately doesn't help you :( ) but think even that's a bit close.

if you're going to park on the road, be careful as there are alot of residents only parking streets on match/concert days.

hi all - so excited about tomorrow - it's gonna be incredible!

Just wondering as ticketmaster says gen admission tickets allow access to unreserved level 1 seats. Is that correct? Is it first come first serve? I personally would love to stand but my girlfriend reckons she can't hack it for so long. Girls!!!

Hey - newbie to the boards but definitely not to Coldplay, booked them to play at The Roadhouse in Manchester back when they were first signed to BMG! Just back from the Barcelona gig, it was outstanding :D

Anyway, quick question. Does anyone have a heads up as to whether Jay-Z will be performing Lost+ with them tomorrow?

Coldplay aiming to bring summer to a close in style

WELL, here is it is then, the last big outdoor gig of the summer. Oasis were both ramshackle and resurgent at Heaton Park (the last time we’ll see them? I’m not so sure…), while Doves positively shimmered at Delamere.

But undoubtedly the most innovative, awe-inspiring and just plain joyous outdoor gigs of yet another meagre summer came from Take That and their sold out run at Old Trafford.

Bursting – centre stage – from a flurry of airborne balloons, Mark, Gary, Howard and Jason showed just why they’re just about the hottest ticket in the country at the moment. Could they’re comeback have gone any better? Quite simply the answer is no.

Hoping to harness the quartet’s ability to make a 50,000-capacity (and tired looking cricket ground) feel spectacular, yet intimate this Saturday will be Coldplay.

And let’s face it, with a major label and humungous ticket sales behind them, no corners will be cut.

Their arena tour, which took fourth LP, Viva La Vida, to the people last winter showed early inklings of what they had planned too.

Frontman Chris ‘Ever Ready Bunny’ Martin and the boys popped up all over the M.E.N, ensuring each segment of the crowd got their personal moment in what proved two truly euphoric nights.

Streets ahead of the wishy-washy indie they tend to get bandied in with (namely Athlete and Snow Patrol), those boys have the intelligence, heart and passion to turn anodyne spaces into communal throngs and I’m sure they’ll pull it off again this weekend.

Plus with a bright, dry day expected and the small matter of a certain Jay-Z (plus White Lies) to warm the masses up, it could well be one of THOSE great Manchester nights.

haha love the #1 maze!

Just off now to the pub to meet everyone for the pre-manc drinks and meal

:escaping2:

Haha, hope you all have a brilliant time with the "Ever Ready Bunny!" :)

If the weather stays like this, I'm going to have to think about suncream

Ian, Jen (or anyone else that may know the answer)... I'm planning on getting the train from Liverpool to Deansgate, and then getting the metro from the Gmex to Old Trafford at either 16:41 or 16:53. I'll then (hopefully) be getting the metro back to the Gmex at 22:47 or 22:59 so I can get the 23:22 train back to Liverpool. Are the trams definitely going to be running, any problems to report? I know there's been some engineering work over the last few days, just thought I'd better check.

1st timer

1st Coldplay concert ever tomorrow :D

And i have never been so excited in my life!!:):)

Same!! Going to be a long journey in the morning from Newcastle to Manchester, I don't think I'm going to be able to sit still. Woooooo...!!!

Just checked the Metrolink website and they're not reporting any issues. They advise the Altrincham line is fully re-opened. We're in town for dinner tonight (am just about to leave now) so will check out St Peter's Square and post findings later :)

Great, thanks Jen! Have fun tonight and tomorrow! x

Zenden as in Bolo Zenden, the footballer? He sent me a signed Liverpool shirt for me to auction off for charity a couple of years ago. Great guy.

I've had this account for years now... I should really change the name :P but that's a cool story, seemed a cool guy.
