U2 vs. Coldplay

Coldplay > U2

U2 have a couple of good songs, but that's my opinion. :)

Everyone has their own opinion, and I agree with yours. I respect U2 though.

Touring is true. But how many people who buy an album see a band live? It's hard to say.

U2 did influence bands, but mostly mainstream bands. Radiohead is no product of u2 in anyway. Killers yes, coldplay yes. Many modern bands. But that doesn't mean they changed music. There were bands doing what u2 did before them. Every band is a product of many influences who were products of influences. So technically the first guy to hit a rock influenced all modern drummers. But big clear influences arent easily made.

what?!!

you sound too young to comment on U2. and incredibly you got a Thanks!

Guys you can't even compare there two! Their carreer lenght is different so the number of albums so the age of the band, this thread is a little bit stupid I'm sorry

Wow that's pretentious

soOorry not to be born in the 80s or earlier so we can fully appreciate U2's awesomeness. If I hear you making a bad comment about a current popular boysband or idk Justin Bieber, I will not hesistate to point out that I assume you are too old to comment on them.

Dear god, we're all humans, we therefore all have EARS here, and a right to express what they like and what they don't. Also, being on a COLDPLAY forum, let's not expect everyone to say: "U2 is obviously the most legendary band here, Coldplay is only a follow-up"

Then again, that debate is silly anyway, as people have pointed, those 2 bands don't have the same experience, career length, so you can't compare them properly.

I grew up listening to U2 as my parents played their albums on long road trips. I've always loved their sound, personalities and music in general. With that said, I love Coldplay so much more! The bands share a lot stylistically, but I feel like Coldplay speaks to me more and has a more chill/layed back sound that I really appreciate.

Honestly, I can't see how someone can like one of the two and dislike the other... :\

I think coldplay are the U2 of this generation, and have filled the Gap in the musical market that U2 could no longer occupy. U2 dont really get up to that much any more, and it would be a shame to see epic soft rock die, so coldplay are keeping it alive even though they may not have been the founders of epic soft rock.

Epic soft rock fangirling is a inherited thing in my family :P for my dad it was U2, for me it is Coldplay. im sure my kids will be into the same kinda music played by a different band

Anyways, in my opinion, you can't hate U2 and love coldplay, or vis versa. they are the same kind of music. if you like one more than the other, then it must be for other reasons, not because you think the actual music is better. musically, they're just as good as each other.
