I find their music boring, I respect that they were a revolutionary sound in the 1960s but I think there has been superior music since, if you genuinely like their music then great, it doesn't mean everyone has to.

have the white stripes come up yet? on most music forums they are one of the first bands brought up because of the massive critical acclaim they have received over the last decade or so. i'm waiting for someone to mention them so i can lay it into them. :)

 

overrated and underrated are words that have always confused me. is it based purely on what critics say? or are we also including commercial success ie album sales, radio airplay and chart success. please someone explain

This thread is a waste of time. You're only going to get caught up in endeless looping arguments based on your own opinions, which are different. It's hardly a healthy debate, some of the comments about nirvana have been harsh, and I am not a fan of theirs.

 

If you're in the northern hemisphere, for fucks sake, go outside and enjoy summer.

They aren't the greatest musicians ever, nobody is saying that. But you could argue that DragonForce are the best guitarists alive, but who gives a shit about technical ability if the songs are terrible?

 

I challenge you to find a person who doesn't like at least one Beatles song, they have such an extensive collection of music, some of it that would be groundbreaking even it was released today and it appeals to different people on different levels, there are some Beatles songs I really don't like that others will love, that jsut shows you the depth of the band.

 

I think when most people think of the Beatles they think of the Hard Day's Night Beatles singing pure pop music to screaming girls.

Nathan, you're wrong. They and Radiohead are the greatest musicians ever.
