And that's putting it nicely.

So monotonous!

She made her point clear too many times... I hope so too then.

I'm waiting for someone who likes it now!

It's ok. At this point, she needs a hit, so the fact that it sounds like alot of other pop songs might work in her favour.

Quite rude with Natalie! I love her song, so different from what she did before

So, I'm kind of a huge fan and I just want to share something with you ^^

By watching some of her gigs video, just find "Lukas" : I think that the song is just amazing! (will be one of my favorite!)

And here is "Fun" :

+1

I like Natalie Imbruglia, she's not bad, but I would really love to hear Chris' version.

Not sure if we'll ever hear it though..

People seem to boo a little when she mentions him :dozey:

But thanks :D

Coldplay-penned Imbruglia track 'Want' gets online reviews / listen to the track

<img src=http://www.coldplaying.com/images/natalieimbruglia.jpg ALIGN="Left" HSPACE="5" VSPACE="5" >A song called <b>Want</b> has been long-awaited by Coldplay fans since March, when Chris Martin claimed it was some of his best writing to date. But Coldplay won't be performing it. The track will appear on Natalie Imbruglia's new album, Come to Life, debuting October 15th. Listen to a sample of Want now at Natalie Imbruglia's <a href=http://www.myspace.com/natalieimbruglia target="_blank">MySpace</a> page.

In his March interview, Chris Martin regretted letting the song go, although at the time of the interview Coldplay fans didn't know which track he was referring to. "A bit annoyingly we've given Natalie the best Coldplay song of all time," he said. "Half of me wishes we still had it. But she sounds brilliant on it."

The song's pop potential is evident in its lyrics. <i>Take a good look at what you gave up because a heart can't be unbroken/Baby the memories are all you get now and I'm moving on.</i> Martin sings backup: <i>All that you want, I hope you get all that you want, 'cause I didn't.</i>

Listeners, however, will have to decide if the writing is really on par with Coldplay greats like "Clocks," "Yellow" and "Fix You." The Sun blogged this morning about the new track, saying it wasn't as good as Clocks. Here's what Gordon Smart's Bizarre column had to say:

<i>Chris Martin claimed he had handed the greatest track he had ever written to Natalie Imbruglia earlier this year. I've had the first listen to his masterpiece, and I have to disagree with him. The tune, called Want, is better than good but certainly not his best - Clocks knocks the socks off it, if you ask me. Want has a bit of Kate Bush about it, with a hint of A-Ha - which will ensure a top three chart result after it is released at the end of September. It's also a promising sign for Come To Life, Nat's forthcoming album. The single sounds like Kate's 1985 smash Running Up That Hill, with a bit more venom in the lyrics. The former Neighbours star blasts a past lover for not coming up to scratch - a dig at ex husband Daniel Johns perhaps? She seethes: "Take a good look at what you gave up because a heart can't be unbroken/Baby the memories are all you get now and I'm moving on." Chris's backing vocals on the chorus goes: "All that you want, I hope you get all that you want, cos I didn't."

Chris Martin recently revealed his dismay at giving Natalie Imbruglia [pictured] a track that he claims could have been the "best Coldplay song ever". The song is expected to be the first single from Imbruglia's forthcoming new album 'Come To Life', and may be titled 'Scars'. "A bit annoyingly we've given her the best Coldplay song of all time," Martin joked to Heraldsun.com.au. "But because we're off-cycle we can't do it ourselves. Half of me wishes we still had it. But she sounds fucking brilliant on it. I think she has a very unique talent and an incredibly unique voice."

More discussion on the Chris Martin / Natalie Imbruglia collaboration is at the Coldplay forum <a href=http://www.coldplaying.com/forum/showthread.php?t=60298 target="_blank">here</a> onwards [thanks lostsides]

<i>'Lukas' was produced by Brian Eno, with Blur and Elbow collaborator Ben Hillier helming the remaining songs. Imbruglia will play a gig at the London Luminaire venue on August 12 – which has sold out. The tracklisting of 'Come To Life' will be:

'My God'

'Lukas'

'Fun'

'Twenty'

'Scars'

'Want'

'WYUT'

'Cameo'

'All The Roses'

'Wild About It'</i>

Lol that 'Want' song is shit.

agree.

silly chrissy. im glad he gave it away.

Hang on. Did Chris say it was 'Want' or 'Lukas' that was the 'best Coldplay song ever'? Because I'm guessing he was referrring to 'Lukas'.

Lukas is probably the song Chris was referring to when he said he had given Imbruglia the best Coldplay song ever!

Yeah. I don't think he gave 'Want' away, he just cowrote that shit.

I'm curious to hear Lukas though.

I think its not a good thing to give a song.:embarassed: Especially I wouldn't expect this from Coldplay...

Coldplay songs good when they singing, not somebody else.

Artists writing songs for other artisits is not uncommon. This has been going on for many years. And this isn't the first time Coldplay or Chris has done this.

When I first heard about this, it left a gross distaste in my mouth and having listened to a snippet of the song on Natalie's myspace page today, it still leaves the same bad taste in my mouth. I could barely make it through the snippet so I can't imagine listening to the entire thing. Which is pretty unfortunate given that it was a co write with Coldplay. I wish that Chris hadn't "given" Natalie the song for her new record because I would have loved to hear how he would have sounded on it. I think it's got the potential to be an amazing song but only if Chris were the one singing it.

Humm, I think that you're very rude with this song!

It is quite underated : from Natalie, it is a surprise and a good one. Her fans didn't expect this kind of song wich is very interesting and different from what she did before! Although, "Want" is very catchy and for a first single, it won't let you indifferent. (it is not because Chris Martin isn't the singer that all the songs he wrotes are crap! I can't imagine him singing Want). I invite you to see the song on live!

However, here is the full version of Lukas : I like it very much!

Also : "Scars" is Natalie's song, Chris Martin has never done something with it.

And Prospekt. , it is not because you don't like the song that the song is bad. I would be more interesting if you told me what you don't like in it, in case of saying that is a shit.

I'm assuming you are talking to me, when you say I am being rude with the song. I don't think I was being rude at all. I was simply giving my opinion about it. Everyone's entitled to that. I don't happen to like it. Nothing against Natalie or her fans. It's just not my personal taste. If Natalie fans like it then that's fine with me. I'm happen to not be one. I do agree, that it is different from what I have heard from her in the past. I'm just not impressed and I don't think it should be on her album at all but I wasn't a part of the decision or the process. Just expressing my point of view. So sorry if you feel I was rude.

Actually, I wasn't thinking of when I wrote this, you just said that you don't like the song, and I respect your choice ^^ (whereas I'm sad about this :( ). I was talking to people who said the song was "shit", as they have the only right opinion .

Whatever, I also want to hear Coldplay's version, but Lukas fits so well to Natalie! She sings it so beautifully, it is quite hard to imagine somebody else singing it. (it is a very "feminin" song I think)

Shit. I want Coldplay to do this song.

I'd love some Chris ooooooooooooh's.

Yeah, the ooohs were the only part I liked.
