I didn't even know she had a new album out. It's no wonder it flopped, I haven't seen or heard any promotions about it. It seems that only the die-hard Imbruglia fans would have known about it.

EDIT: Although looking into this further, apparently UK release and promotion has been delayed so she might have more success with the album in the future.

THIS

I Don't even know any Die hard fans of Her :laugh3:

I Hopes Coldplay do Use Lukas, as Chris says that he regrets giving it away

Lukas is very different lyrically than a lot of Coldplay songs, but it totally has that Viva La Vida sound, and I'd love to hear Chris sing it.

Never heard any song by her, I guess I should.

And I haven't listened to any of the songs above.

I should listen to those too.

Sucks about her tho

I'm sorry but I've never called them this before but Coldplay are sheer 110% idiots for letting that song Lukas go. Natalie Imbruglia does a great job singing it though but lyrically it is fantastic and I feel would have been an instant classic not just for us Coldplay fans but for music listeners in general.

THANKS A LOT GUYS! The only way Coldplay will get to know this is if we relay tonnes of questions into the Oracle absolutely slating them for doing this!

Lukas is one of my favorite songs :wacky: I would love, love, love to hear Chris sing it. Probably never gonna happen, though :disappointed:

Coldplay should have signed a pre-nup stating that unless the album achieved at least silver RIAA certification, they retain the rights to re-use the song. This song is wasted on an album that has "Sold Wood!"

^ Yeah, I'm surprised that EMI didn't make them do something like that!

Awww, poor Nats. this is crap. She deserves better than that... Oh well, there really was no promo for it, so I guess that's what happens. I'll probably get the album eventually to hear those 3 songs then.

Okay, I understand that I will probably get bashed for my opinion, but...

I just now listed to Lukas for the first time (the youtube link earlier in this thread), and honestly I don't care for it all that much. It's just kind of... mneh. I think maybe the reason I feel that way on first impression is because it seems like "been there, done that". For some reason what popped into my mind was that is sounded like a funky mix of Spanish Rain and Glass of Water. Now of course both of those are lovely songs, but listening to Lukas is like taking 2 lovely songs and making halfassed mash potatos out of it. Plus, as I mentioned, that material is in the past now.

My 2 cents.

Personally I don't find Spanish Rain all that spectacular myself. Perhaps it's the fact that it sounds quite similar to Springsteen's Dancing in the Dark.

Maybe Lukas is like beer for you, you just don't like it the first time and then the second time it's already better!

I still think the might release it guys :D

Look at Gravity, they gave that (unbelievably beutiful" song away to, erm, well, guys who like Nat, can be considered a total flop. Yet they still recorded and released their own version since, as a b-side ofc. I have a feeling they will do the same with Lukas actually... and let's be frank, it WILL be far better than Natalie's version, just like our version of Gravity was far superior to Embrace's attempt ;)

Roll on LP5 B-side I say! :)

You can't call Embrace a flop. Their first album was very good and Ashes is still one hell of a song. I also like This New Day. They are far from great but they're decent.

Looking back after all these years I think this was one of their more unfortunate miscalculations. Lukas was a signature Coldplay song to such extent that when I played the instrumental to a few people within seconds they said it must be a Coldplay song. The lyrics were also exceptional and quite fresh. To have it wasted on a Natalie Imbruglia album was a shame.

I'm just so relieved we got Prospekt's March. I can't imagine not ever hearing Rainy Day or Glass of Water or any other song on it for that matter. They're all absolutely epic.

i think lukas ending in the natalie I.'s album had to do more with the inspiration for the song itself.

the media are pretty harsh on coldplay when it comes to things like this. so rather than releasing it themselves, they found another outlet for an amazing song. otherwise it probably won't have seen the light of day.
