You lot no I dislike Radiohead with a passion but is there any way I can come to like them? The biggest obstacle is that of Thom Yorke who I severely hate because of his bore attitude of which he has no time for any artist but he and his group. This is opposed to Greenwood who is somewhat of a genius. So you tell me what makes them a great group abd by that I'm not asking for those obvious soppy statements like "OK Computer's the greatest album of the 90s etc..." That is a matter of opinion as I believe Achtung Baby is! No tell me what YOU think makes them great. Try and convince me.

Erm, I could always try and persuade you to get into the Manic Street Preachers instead if you don't already like them? *runs out of thread*

Well, you like Michael Schumacher..Why don't they swap jobs like one of those TV shows? Thom Yorke would be up against Hamilton for the championship, and Michael Schumacher, would be singing "Just" at Wembley.

Try some older stuff like The Bends.

If you don't like them, then you don't like them. Nowt wrong with that.

When I was younger I used to think that Radiohead was this mystical band that was so deep that I couldn't possibly wrap my head their music or even come close to understanding it.

I was a bit bonkers.

^^ Agreed with Fixed.

I saw them live for about the fifth time at Glastonbury 1997, and had to walk away. They were well past their prime music-making days by then, I reasoned, plus: everything they played bored me to death.

I've liked some of the stuff they've come up with since then. But, if it's not your thing, it's not your thing.

As I've said before, I find most of their music depressing........................... ;)

try to listen to the band with an open mind, and put your thoughts about Thom Yorke behind you. Also just watch them live: http://www.youtube.com/user/AustinBrock

In general try listening to the albums in order and notice how their sound constantly changes, but also how more experimental and innovative they become.

That should be a good start

the bends changed my ipod , car cd slot organization and threw other cds by the wayside, drivng down the road with it on blarring it all the way on and people look at the crazy lady

I honestly have never cared for Radiohead. I want to like them as well and Fitz told me to start out with The Bends so I plan to do that. I like a few of their songs.

Start with The Bends or In Rainbows :D

And yes, Radiohead is a hard band to get into. At first listen I did not even like them. I listened to their stuff again and thought"this is ok" and then listened to them again and thought "this is good" and another time "ok this is REALLY good" and then finally "OK RADIOHEAD IS LIFE" :dead:

But once you get into them, its the best feeling ever!

Good luck with them :D

Why do you want to like them? Just because everybody else says they're great? Here's a thought... maybe 'everybody' is wrong! Maybe they're shit! Don't accept that they're probably amazing and that you're not 'deep' enough to 'get' them. Use your own ears and make your own mind up.

This. If you really don't like Radiohead it isn't a big deal

I don't WANT to like them. I'm merely seeing what Radiohead fans can say about their band other than the same obvious things said about them over and over again. I'll admit I'll probably never get into them as they produce fairly unremarkable tunes but I'm just seeing if there's anything that can change my opinion.

There's nothing that can change your opinion. Sorry.

I'd just like to say it isn't Radiohead that's pretentious, it's the fans. Don't let them dissuade you.

But if you genuinely dislike the music, don't bother listening

Ouch! Hurtful truth I guess!
