LadyBellaStrawberry
I hope never... But I do have to face the facts, they will someday :wreck: I just read this old article from May about their fifth album, it just got me thinking. Plus they said they prob. won't tour as much :cry2: Lol at their concert I went to about 2 months ago Chris was like, "Im sorry we cancelled last summer, we will come back in a 7 (? cant remember the number) years." Then the crowed yelled no and he responded, "FINE 12 years". Then the crowed yelled no and he said 15, then finally the crowed said no and he said, "Fine never :p". Oh my, What if I cant see the live again??? Haha. No, Ill die! :dead: (lets face it, my city is not the biggest :embarassed:) I cant think about it anymore :( How many more albums do you think they would do? Pseudonym
Well Chris has hinted that they may only do one more, as he said you're pretty much done with good ideas at 33 years old. He said he might just want to quit while he's ahead and get to work on his beer belly. :P
iduran20
I remember Chris saying something about how he doesn't think they'll ever break up so I hope he was serious about that. I want them to be like the Rolling Stones, still old and rocking.:D

Pseudonym
Even if they do break up, expect solo projects and probably an eventual reunion. I don't think they can stay away from music for good. I'd be especially keen to hear a Will solo project, seeing as he plays more instruments than the rest of the band combined plus he can sing and obviously he has really great taste. yeahhright
I really don't know... I mean I could see them keeping it up for a U2-like length of time just getting better and being the best band in the world for decades to come, but then again I had a nightmare last night that Chris finally went through with it and broke up the band to work more on other peoples music because he had gone bald! A lot of the time I think that they won't stop even when they become irrelevant to the masses because being in Coldplay is what they do, its their job as well as what they love to do every day with their best friends. Number-wise I can see them making maybe five-seven more in their career. Or maybe thats just my wishful thinking.
LadyBellaStrawberry
5 or 7? Holy Crap rlly? I HOPE SO. But the thing is, I would rather them break up and staying friends (with a reunion) than staying together and start loosing their touch (if thats even possible). I want them to be like the Rolling Stones, still old and rocking.:D The Stones have not aged well, I'd prefer them to be more like Bruce Springsteen - he's aged much better than Mick, and Chris likes Bruce, too. I first saw Bruce in concert 28 years ago, and the last time I saw him was last year...I hope Coldplay has that kind of staying power!

It is possible, many bands (including U2) have lost what made them great. Could happen with Coldplay too, but I don't think so. Chris just seems more down-to-earth than Bono, and like he wouldn't soon settle for shit songwriting.
Prospekt.
U2 is still fantastic music.

But the thing is, I would rather them break up and staying friends (with a reunion) than staying together and start loosing their touch (if thats even possible). Well yeah, why not? I mean they've been around for ten years now and made four albums is it that unrealistic to see them making that many or more in the next 10-15 years? Though, for the record, I do agree with you that I'd rather see them break up or take an extended break on a high note than slowly and painfully get worse. Oh, I didn't mean they should be exactly like them when they're old, I just want them to still be around making music when they're like in their 60's and beyond...:D That's what I'm hoping for. Pseudonym
U2 is still fantastic music. I wouldn't call it fantastic. It's okay. But the lyrics mostly suck, and the instrumentals have gotten repetitive. They haven't shown a full album's worth of real musical passion since The Joshua Tree. Josh42
One more album then a break up for a while but they will inevitably get back together.
The Escapist
They will reach 13 albums and then the world will end.
the_escapist
I really hope they keep doing albums until I die. I know it's selfish, but I don't want to miss the chance to hear their stuff, so...when I die, they'll stop...Or probably, if they stop, then I'll die...Same thing! Miss Lestrade
Well, I'm pretty sure Chris was joking about the 33 yrs. old thing. I mean, he turns 33 in like half a year or something. But...as others have said...if they somehow lose their chemistry, then it's all over. They've got to stay friends if they want to keep making good music, and I think they can do that for a good number of years.

Tnspieler1012
much more than two, three or four at the very least.
Talor
Hope they will go on forever of course, but i think they won`t go on any longer, Chris has a family to care of.. I really dunno. its depends on so many things.

But Idk about the 10-15 more years thing :\ I just hope that they will do a really big tour after their last album, cuz they said they don't wanna tour that much anymore
an angel
At the rate they're going, they won't have that many more albums if they keep going for 10-15 more years. :\
Darlene_Ihnfsa
jokingly... once i made one of those "die" quiz and said they will die due to a snow avalanche in 2022 or so  now seriously. they are about to reach to record their 5th album... and the band i started to compare them to (The Police), slipt after that album :\ i don't think it'll be bad they take a short hiatus, of 2 years or so, so they'll be refreshed when they get into music again :) but i hope they'll last long :) (also i'd like they go more into electric guitars as they did in AROBTTH, and so give more space to drums and bass, but i'd like some piano too.... i'd like they mix it differently as they've done it in the last albums). noonsun
Coldplay clearly live for music, they'll probably keep going even if they stop for a while. Not sure if they'll necessarily release it, but they're nice chaps, they probably will. I'm thinking probably at least two more albums before they "stop." w1ll1am7
you can't predict how many more albums, because the time span will go for a long time. If they ar best friends, then i don't think they will split, because what's the point. they're doing what they love and I don't think they will ever stop. they will always experiment, such as U2 ie Zooropa and Pop. but i think they will last for an indefinite time
