When you first heard Coldplay

Featured Replies

What song got you hooked on and loving Coldplay?? Tell all about it!

Truly, I had never heard of Coldplay before I saw the video for Speed of Sound. I could go on a rant and rave about how i felt when i heard that song the first time... but ill just say that ive been obsessed with and loving Coldplay ever since! And I do not know of a single song by them that I do not love.

My favorite album by Coldplay.. would be an extremely hard choice! But I think that I would end up saying X&Y.. I bought X&Y only shortly after it came out, after I saw the video, and I had never loved one cd so much! I went back and got Parachutes and A Rush Of Blood to the Head (and LOVED those too), and I got Viva La Vida the day it came out, and Prospekts March the day it came out as well =D Coldplay are the most amazing people in the world :D

edit: I love all their sound in each album, and how they try new things, but I love the X&Y sound and the use of synthesizers and such.. and I loved their live techno on the X&Y tour, we should start a petition for a release of the God Put A Smile Upon Your Face/Talk remix, ja?

i'd heard Yellow on the radio, but i didn't bother looking them up until i heard Speed of Sound. then i got X&Y for Christmas that year, then later bought Parachutes, then AROBTTH.

and that's when the obsession began. :)

The first song that I remember standing out was Yellow, and it's still my favorite song.

Platonic love :)

Violet Hill when it came out.

But I remember watching the Don't Panic video on a Now Thats What I Call Music DVD

I remember seeing Yellow and Don't Panic on tv when I was little I thought the videos were really cool especially Don't Panic, but I was too stupid to understand their music back then. When I really got into them was when I heard Fix you.

It's funny, but I feel like I've always known Clocks and the Scientist. I must have heard them on the radio loads of times when I was younger.

Then, when X&Y came out, I got hooked.

I would play Swallowed in the Sea over and over again in the car, until my parents shut it off. :dozey:

Coldplay.obsessed: My first concert i had ever been to was Coldplay as well, and I feel the same way! It made my life, haha When I have a bad day I think about it and I can smile, its a good day again haha ^_^

Miss Lestrade: X&Y is so full of great songs, I cannot even on a top 5 from that album (every album is so amazing too :P), but Swallowed in the Sea is definitely in there ... hmm... Speed of Sound, Fix You, Talk, White Shadows, Swallowed in the Sea... etc. ;P ha

:) That night was love. I was really happy that it was Coldplay who I went to see for my frist concert. I kinda wish it was on the Twisted Logic tour, but VLV was just asgreat :nice:

There are so many threads like this. :laugh4:

But, the first song of Coldplay's I heard was "Speed of Sound". Four and a half years ago now.

And it was love at first....hear.!

First Coldplay song I heard was Speed Of Sound. But, I didn't get hooked until I heard Clocks.

When Yellow hit the airwaves, I loved them. From there, I found Shiver and that led me to Don't Panic a'la Parachutes and from there I was sold on them. When AROBTTH came out, it was The Scientist and Amsterdam that had me hooked. It's just been growing since then....

Five for Fighting was the first concert I ever went to. Actually, no.

It was Yanni.

But Coldplay's show is the best. And that's what catapulted me into obsession.

Speed of Sound

At this time I was afraid of Chris' way of dancing :D

I had heard Speed of Sound a few times on the radio, then one day when it came on, I randomly started singing along to it! And I thought, "Holy shit, I must love this song! I've gotta check out this band!" And so I did, and the rest is history. :D

I'm sad to admit this, but... Viva la Vida.

I had probably heard them before. I probably didn't like them.

And I'm surprised a lot of you say Speed of Sound... For a long time since I've been a fan, that song was my least favorite of Coldplay's.

I don't even remember how I ended up listening to In My Place, but when I heard it I acted like it was the best song I had ever heard. (Keep in mind I was, what? Eleven? And just developing my own individual taste in music outside of whatever you heard on the radio.) I went out and bought the Rush of Blood CD and haven't stopped loving Coldplay ever since.

In My Place is still my favorite song. :)

politik.

i downloaded AROBBTH on a whim, expecting to hear what i *thought* coldplay was like.

i was wrong, it was amazing. ive pretty much loved them ever since.

edit: well, thats when i got into them.

i head yellow a lot on the radio as a kid, and i remember i sang along a bit.

and my best friend's mom used to play "speed of sound" on repeat every morning:lol: i remember everytime i woke up there i heard the keyboard bit:heart:

The first song I ever heard by Coldplay was Clocks, and then I think it was the Scientist. I didn't appreciate music enough back then to care who sang them though. It was not until, and I'm not ashamed to say it, I heard Viva La Vida on the MTV Movie Awards last year that I fell in love with Coldplay. I didn't know who they were and I looked them up and found out everything about them. To this day Viva La Vida is still my favorite song even though I've heard all of the rest of Coldplay's songs. I love them all so much but for me Viva La Vida beats them all. My first concert was a Coldplay concert and they are just so AMAZING and am so glad they were my first concert.

Once the yellow's video was shown on latin america tv.... a long time ago, but started liking them when I saw the british version video of trouble, I love it!!!

First I was in the car, and I was like 6 I think? Because Clocks was Coldplays single then. (I'm only 13 now.) And Clocks came on the radio and I said: "DAD this is a cool song!" And he never heard of the song before :P And my sister said. (she was 12 then) "That's Coldplay or something)

And after Clocks I never heard a song of Coldplay, since Talk. And then i was 10. And I saw the videoclip on MTV and I was like: "Wattefuck is this for weird video?! Nice song, weird clip.. And I start googleling, and I saw the name: Coldplay. I thought: "Dude, I know that name?"

And again, years no Coldplay. Since Violet Hill. It was on MTV again, and I saw Coldplay and thought: "AAH I KNOW THEM this is an awesome song!" And I started Googling again, and find information, and so I find Clocks, (hé I know that song) and Talk (ooh, from the weird video!) and so the obsession began :P

I spent a long time liking Yellow, Trouble, and Clocks, and not even knowing who Coldplay was (were?). :( It wasn't until Speed of Sound came out that I thought, "this must be by that band that does that other piano-y song! (Clocks)" but my awful local radio station never seemed to tell you who the songs were by.

But one day, and I'll never forget the moment, I was turning right on broadway with Speed of Sound on the radio and the DJ said "That was Coldplay with Speed of Sound. Boy those guys know how to put sounds together, eh? Next up..."

I was like, "Coldplay, hm?" I bought X&Y shortly thereafter and then the guy I was seeing at the time lent me his Parachutes and Rush of Blood, and over and over again while listening I would exclaim "they wrote this too? I LOVE this song!" :D

Uber-fandom didn't occur until much later though, when I was out of school and rediscovered them in my coworker's iTunes library at work. The 2nd time the Coldplay Love struck like lightning and there was no going back. ;)

I remember hearing Yellow on the radio all those years ago but I guess I was a bit too young to become a proper fan.

Plus I did really enjoy Coldplay when their songs came on the radio but I didn't really know who they were. I just liked the songs.

It wasn't really a song that got me hooked onto Coldplay, rather a performance. Sound Relief to be more specific. :)

But if I were to pick a song it would be Fix You because, well how could you forget that song if you had Chris Martin running through the crowd during it. :P

well i noticed after i started discovering their other songs like clocks, talk and yellow i recognized them.
