I like to dance

what is wrong with you? you seem like a sad and frustrated person, get a girlfriend or just get laid.

I just heard Love Is Noise today and i'd probably really like if they hadn't decided to get Pingu to do backing vocals :\ Meh, maybe it'll grow one me with a few more listens.

Nice to see another fan of Feeder on these forums.

Well the reunion was nice while it lasted.

Looks like they were having technical issues. Rich stopped during TDDW and walked off during BSS, looks like he blew smoke into Nick's face too. I hope they can work it out after that but I wouldn't be surprised if they split at all. Oh well.

Stopping the song was on Saturday in Tokyo - Pete was laughing on drums. No drama there.

Sunday Nick lobbed his guitar to side stage at the end...might explain hy Richard went over there. Perhaps to check the crew member and/or someone he knows offstage was not hurt.

Muttered something to Nick on his way offstage (he always goes off as their gigs end) to the right side. Definitely something to do with the way Nick just acted.

Nick looks to have acted like a child because his guitar had issues (not the first time they have on this recent tour) but you don't act like that and throw stuff at crew members.

Chris would be a bit peeved if Johnny did that.

It's clear Nick has a bad attitude and would rather play long draw out ambient stuff. But no one forced him to get back up there.

Hopefully they'll sort it out. The stuff about Richard suddenly going solo again is a joke - even Nick/Simon mentioned in iterviews last year he would be carrying on with solo work - before they played their first gigs in Nov 2007.

It's clear they had a bust up over the ontsage stuff but other than that it's the press running away with themselves after a story.

"history" suggests though they may not have to look too hard with The Verve but hopefully a break after V this weekend and they'll sort stuff out. Their Sunday night slot is live on Virgin radio and maybe 4Music TV as well - should be interesting...

Funny they have the guy who played the violins on Viva La Vida at their gigs right now. Maybe he'll get a job with Coldplay...

i just went on what i call a "verve song buying spree" :D

i've now got every song that's on itunes by the verve yay! :D i've now got 80 verve songs :D

anyone know where i can get any live stuff? cheers :D

Fuck that, you saw how richard reacted? like a fucking twat. He instantly reminded me of Liam Gallagher.

Blowing smoke in Nicks face and then just walked offstage before the last song was played....what a arrogant wanker.

Anyway, I really really hope this is not the end, but it looks very much like it.

And why is it so clear that Nick has a bad attitude?

oh dear....do we have a member of Northern Souls here....one of the Sycophant Nick McCabe "fans". Who all think Richard is "evil"..hehe

Rich doesn't exactly do himself any favours though.

kid? ha!ha!

Will Summer Sonic 08 be Verve's last?

Fans of the Verve who finally got a chance to see the band play in Japan at the Summer Sonic festival last weekend may have to savor the moment, according to reports.

British magazine New Musical Express reported on its Web site Tuesday that guitarist Nick McCabe had cut his finger after the band's show at Osaka on Sunday and flew back to Britain separately from the rest of the band, sparking rumors that the band are about to break up for the third time in their stormy history.

While the Verve's performance in Chiba on Saturday was one of the high spots of the weekend, Sunday's headliners, Coldplay, lived up to all the expectations of the enormous crowd that the British group drew to the main stage.

The highlight of Coldplay's set came when Alicia Keys joined frontman Chris Martin on stage to play piano on "Clocks," sending the packed crowd at the main stage into rapturous delight.

Shortly before, Coldplay had ended their main set by jumping from the stage and bounding to a small stage in the middle of the crowd, where they played an acoustic version of "The Scientist" and "Death Will Never Conquer."

The million-selling band was one of the festival's main attractions, with the Marine Stage pretty much full when they opened with "Life in Technicolour."

Martin's enthusiasm on stage was infectious. He certainly knows how to please audiences, especially when he wowed the crowd with a version of SMAP's "Sekai ni Hitotsu Dake no Hana,"

While Coldplay was a hit on Sunday, the Verve's performance the previous evening was one of the high spots of the weekend.

In a relatively short set, the British group drew from their long repertoire of songs, though not unnaturally the tracks from Urban Hymns were received most enthusiastically.

International hit "Bitter Sweet Symphony" was the number that most people were there to hear, but for me "The Drugs Don't Work" was a sublime moment, though the band had to restart the song after problems during the first time round.

Singer Richard Ashcroft prowled around the stage with an arrogance that never became irritating and his charisma captivated the audience.

On the same evening, the Sex Pistols headlined the Mountain Stage and another packed crowd was treated to almost every piece of recorded material the ageing British punk band ever recorded (and more).

As someone who bought Sex Pistols singles back in 1977, I approached the prospect of seeing Johnny Rotten and his cohorts with a certain amount of schoolboy glee. When they opened with "Pretty Vacant" and followed up with "I'm a Lazy Sod" that optimism appeared justified.

Unfortunately, Rotten decided to talk to the audience. He has an ironic humor that entertained and shocked TV and radio audiences in the past, but at Summer Sonic the comments he made about "Nippon" audiences being "very quiet" and "shy" became tiresome.

But it was when Rotten and bassist Glen Matlock started urging one side of the crowd to outshout the other that my teenage image of the Sex Pistols as a radical, even anarchic, band began to fade.

They encored with "Anarchy in the U.K." and followed up with a version of Hawkwind's "Silver Machine," a combination that I never imagined hearing from any punk band, never mind the Pistols.

Earlier on Saturday, Scottish singer Paolo Nutini had entertained the Beach Stage with a driving set of blues-driven pop. He has an engaging manner and suited the relaxed atmosphere of the beach very well.

On the main stage, the Subways gave their customary energetic performance, culminating in vocalist/guitarist Billy Lunn being hoisted aloft by the crowd after he had decided to launch himself into the throng.

Though the lineup had a heavy British bias, it was not all cups of tea and scones with jam.

Alicia Keys charmed the main stage on Sunday evening, while Devo's quirky brand of punk rock demonstrated why they are still worth watching, even 30 years since their first album came out.

The return of Spritualized to Japan was warmly received, with the songs from the group's latest album, Songs in A&E, among the highlights of their set, with "Soul on Fire" a moment of pure beauty.

Summer Sonic may be a little more functional and less laid back than the Fuji Rock Festival, and the slog between the Makuhari Messe and the Marine Stadium is less than welcome, but there is no doubting the quality of the lineup. As long as this is maintained it will continue to sell out in future years.
