Thatd have been pretty cool if it were TGTBTQ - because Tony Allen was there as well on drums, but it wasnt a show for them. It was more of a world music show. It was all about the afro-pop/Mali music (from his trip there w/Oxfam in 2000) and showcasing the different artists that had worked with Honest Jon's label. Damon was more often to the side - singing along, clapping, dancing, talking to Tony on drums and dancing - while Simon was off to the side almost in the corners at times playing along (and damn hes f'ing good!).

 

I figure they must have all played together so much the way everyone gelled together. Damon did sing one song - which ended up involving all the other musicians on the stage - a song from Mali music which was just incredible. I must say when Damon sang the crowd went nuts - and this is a concert hall where the Philharmonic plays so it was surreal. I nearly cried I must admit - at 40 years old he looks lovely and sounds as well as he did when I first heard Leisure. Blur was my first love in high school and Damon was everything I wanted in a rockstar! To this day MLIR is still one of my favorite albums. It is pure genius!

 

The Hypnotic Brass Ensemble was insane - their family was behind my friend and I and they were going crazy. It was pretty cool seeing all the guys up there - dark sunglasses rocking out on brass.

 

i did hear an interview with him the other day on the radio and he mentioned either Gorillaz or TGTBTQ would have a new album out shortly. (cant remember which he said).

i hadn't heard love is noise until today - it's awesome, i really like it! :dance:

 

so now i hope i'll be able to see them live someday. saw richard back in 2006 and it was brilliant :nice:

 

oh, and the album artwork is beautiful!

First I didn't like "Love Is Noise", but my favourite radio station often played this song the last couple of days so now I'm going to like it more and more! :nice:

The Verve in session

 

Hot off their stunning headline performances at Glastonbury and T in the Park, The Verve will be making a welcome return to Maida Vale on Tuesday night (Aug 5th).

 

The band will be performing brand new tunes from their forthcoming album ‘Forth’, and hopefully some classic tracks absolutely live from the legendary studios. You'll also be able to hear an interview between Zane and the man himself, Richard Ashcroft.

 

So tune into Zane’s show from 7pm on Tuesday August 5th, to hear this amazing event - and check out Zane's website for the video of the session!
