Matter-Eater Lad
Lets get emo for a minute. Do you ever think about death, seriously think about it? The other day I was doing my usual soul searching by the lake while working on a paper and being watched by a hobo and realized I could die at any minute. This may sound stupid, but how many people actually live knowing they could die at any moment? We all accept death but for most people we act like it something in the distant future, nothing to be concerned with until we're 90. It seems like we put things off or ignore things because we have an artificial view that death is something that won't happen til later and we're entitled to a long life. I know I'm guilty of this, having a illogical view that tomorrow will always come and everything can wait til later. That's just what I think, how do you feel about it? neonhorn22
^ That's how I feel, too. I think about death a lot....I mean, seriously! How could you not when everywhere you turn, you're being bombarded with all this shit about 2012 being the end of the world?

The Escapist
I think about Death all the time. I suppose its normal for someone like me, a teenager. I recently just finished a 10 week assignment on "The End". Half of the time, I feel sure that I'm ready for death, that its nothing to be afraid of, that there's probably a good reason I died. The other half, I am worried that I haven't done what I want in life, haven't kissed any girls, haven't written a book, haven't changed the world. I don't want my funeral to be a big ocasion though. People put so much effort into respecting and remembering someone when they have died but not while they are still living. Personally, I would like people to care about me that much when Im alive, and let death be just something that happens. Im not sure how I would cope if i lost someone very close to me though. Ive lost a cousin and a nan but never a close friend or family member. Is it better to just move on, to not dwell on the past, what should've been. Or should you let the mourning consume you, until you feel the time is right to live life out? all of these are really important questions that need to be asked. Gitta Rensolo
I often think about it and I don't know if I should be more scared about my own death or about my family or friends dying... I don't even know if I am aware that I could die every minute....actually I am glad I do not think about this too often, because life would suck quite a lot then....I mean I would constantly be worried something bad could happen in some seconds....but on the other hand I wish I would enkoy my life more, because it could be over so suddenly....:\
Tnspieler1012
Everyday I'm reminded by the facts you mention about death, yet I always seem to remain an inconsistent hypocrite in reacting to it. As much as I try to suck out the marrow of life, I often become distracted or confused about what that actually entails. Halfway through college I'm realizing that the decisions I make in the near future will have a huge impact on the way I will look back on my life, presuming I live to a ripe old age. Whether its ignorance, or a peacefully stoic disposition, I'm not particularly scared by the imminence of death. So long as I keep meaningful goals intact, there's no real benefit to be found in going into despair.

Starlight Chaser
I don't think about it that much, but it does scare me to some extent. If I where to die when I was very old, and feeling ready, I suppose that would be fine, but I guess it's like they say - things we don't know scare us. (Or in this case, me)
ivet
I used to not think about it, believing i am too young and i don't have to worry about it until old age, I more worry if my loved ones died. But, the past months, kids my age have died, in just pure accidents, and it makes me think that you don't know when it's coming. It freaks me out too, I'm not ready to die and just thinking that i could step out my door one morning and get on my bus and something happen and i die, it scares me... yet, I'm ready, I think. (even though i just said i'm not ready :laugh3: ) I guess, everyone's day comes, some earlier than others but we were all born to die, sad really :(

Death is something that we all think is a huge, grand and such an important thing, but its just something simple and casual. My young relative died in a car accident, and he called to his mother just right before this accident and asked if she will prepare him dinner. I don't mind if I die. I'm more worried about family/close ones dying. I think the same. I'm ready to die.

I know I'm guilty of this, having a illogical view that tomorrow will always come and everything can wait til later. That's just what I think, how do you feel about it? I wanted to make a similar thread. Death could strike at any moment, yes, and I think about that occasionally. But it's not in my mind too much. I usually act as it is something far away. I make plans for the future all the time. And then sometimes, I suddenly realise that people die all the time, at all ages, in different ways... Not only death, but I think about getting injured too... Anybody could just trip, fall, hit their neck, injure their spine and be disabled for life. As I'm growing up, I'm trying to do more things that make me happy sooner, enjoy life as it is, fill every day with happiness. I don't want to wait for a nice and happy life; and barely by making that decision my life has become better. I don't think I'll ever be ready for death... I'm scared of it, yes, because there are always things you could've done but you didn't, and I am scared of the unknown. When my grandpa died, 7 years ago, I just found it stunning. Never again being able to talk to somebody, look at his eyes, smile together. Oh dear I have tears in my eyes right now... I think about Death all the time. I suppose its normal for someone like me, a teenager. I recently just finished a 10 week assignment on "The End". *Perrine*
I think we shouldn't think about it constantly, and rather enjoy life, family, friends, and certainly not become paranoiac, that would just ruin eveything... I guess it depends on your religion, I just see death like the end, your brain stops functioning and everything fades away... The worst thing for me, is to think I'll leave the world, and never know what happens next

Darlene_Ihnfsa
i used to think about it a lot more than i do now, sure we can die on any minute, but if we stress about it we would not enjoy our stay here. this summer while studying i randomly came to think i surely will die at an early age, and taking into account my genetics, it could happen... but... why to stress about it?
