Oh nice, we started with how genes get fucked up, types of mutation and normal DNA processes.

It's still a long way until we start with syndromes and diseases, but I learned last class how exactly Down syndrome gene gets altered.

Chromatin X, I read it but didn't understand it that much, all I could understand is that it's only visible on women and that only one X chromosome gets activated while the rest get inactivated.

Also something about Klinefelter syndrome kids having it present while Turner syndrome girls don't have it.

I think genetics is... interesting

It is, but I personally find it annoying to read. All the gene sequences, and the language is more complicated. I guess I need to get used to it.

^^Yeah, but it becomes so fucking hard!

Oh I see exactly what you're talking about!

So, since there are 2 X chromosomes, only 1 must be active otherwise everything is fucked up. The other one is desactivated due to a gene which is on this chromosome (XIST I think ), so it becomes all shrivelled so the genes can't be active anymore, and that's what's called chromatin X!

Klinefelter is XXY, so they must have one X desactivated, but Turner is XO, so the only X needs to be active.

Did you understand something? :uhoh:

Wait, you mean like, correct activation to get the right sexual sequence like:

XX and XY?

Yes, it's XIST.

OH GOD I LOVE YOU :stunned:

Yes ! :D

Haha I'm glad I helped, and I'm proud of me cause it's 2:30am and I drank a little before ^^

So that's it, but it's still pathological since some genes on sexual chromosomes have to be active on both (on pseudo-autosomic regions), and these genes are active 3times in Klinefelter, and only 1 in Turner!

Bye bye I'm going to bed! Night night

Night Perrine :nice:

Yeah, I remember that too. But again, too complex, I hope the doctor can explain that tomorrow.

You did great, thank you very much

If I become a lead forensics investigator (or LFI as Vince Masuka calls it) maybe I'll be happier since dead people can't die.

Unless they're zombies. Then they have to be re-killed.

Then I'd kill them viciously with my set of scalpels and electric chainsaws.

I would hope so.

I'm going to bed. I have to wake up and take 2 tests tomorrow.

Ugh, shit life is shit. Not really helpful coming from a random stranger on the internet but good luck.

God this is annoying.

I cried all night, and I've been crying for the past 20 mins. Weird cause I never cry.

Get some zest from somewhere.

So, did you understand that better today?

Aww thank you

Btw, why did you change the title of this thread? It's not true:whip:

Oh, and I gave some blood today finally! And I wanted to look at the big needle when the nurse put it in my vein, i'm weird :uhoh:

I understood today :nice: She was really careful explaining it, and I got it.

I changed the title cause I used to feel amazing by the fact that I'm a med student and I'm studying to have one of the best jobs in the world, but I dunno, maybe it isn't special at all. Maybe I'm still common like the rest of the world. Yay for me..

Blood for what? Biochem?

I'm giving blood again tomorrow, for glucose test. Did you take some blood? :D

I had an anatomy test today, easy  And I started doing some problems in biochemistry, pH.
