Except, I'm singling out Sleeping Sun today as nearly perfect. Just really discovered it a few weeks ago. It's freakin faaaaantastic. :)

 

But if I were to post again next week, it would be totally different. lol

To me Clocks is perfect BUT I would say that they made a big attempt to create a perfect song when they made Violet Hill

For me, LiJ is perfect, followed extremely closely by a 9-way tie between LiTii, Fix You, Warning Sign, The Scientist, Green Eyes, Talk, Lost, VLV, and Amsterdam. How's that for being decisive, eh? lol

I just realized that I already responded in this thread in February but didn't remember it. And, of course, I had a completely different response. lol whooooops!

I'll have to go with The Scientist, its the song that sold coldplay to me and is just an all around great song (its great on guitar and on piano - its perfect)

This thread made me think about what makes a song "perfect". To me a "perfect" song immediately grabs attention, has lyrics that one can remember, a definite beginning, middle, and end. To me that is The Scientist.

As soon as I saw the title of this thread, I thought, "Amsterdam."

 

It's one of my favorite Coldplay songs, and on some days it is my favorite song, but the reason that I think it's a good candidate for "perfect" has nothing to do with how much I love it. Okay, probably a bit, but I just think it's extremely musically balanced. It has some great chords, some beautiful juxtaposition of melody and lyrics, and a great vocal presentation by Chris.

 

Other candidates are The Scientist, Green Eyes, and Shiver.

Undoubtedly both Shiver and Amsterdam.

 

Good choices.
