June 14, 201016 yr The big difference being that the Brit tabloids have been trashing England, not the opposite!:dozey: irrelevant :smug: If you look again, the 1-1 win and bunker hill comparison should be a clue that its meant to be ironic.
June 14, 201016 yr I won't deny Benitez made a horrendous amount of errors last season, like sticking with players who were obviously shot of confidence and playing horrific football. He became too distracted by board wranglings and it obviously affected his ability to manage. Fair comment, I'd say.;)
June 14, 201016 yr Also note they said it was a tie right below the main title. Although it is a bit misleading to say "win", this morning on GMA they explained that since you get 1 point with a tie instead of 0 points for a loss, in that sense it was considered a "win". Likewise, the same "win" could be said for England. I'm not saying I agree with it, but that's how it was explained.
June 14, 201016 yr Well, 1 point isn't three points. England should've gotten three in my opinion. That goal was just really, really pathetic. Didn't show any talent on the US's side, didn't show any ability on England's side. :P
June 14, 201016 yr irrelevant :smug: If you look again, the 1-1 win and bunker hill comparison should be a clue that its meant to be ironic. Pure bunkum, more like............................

And I disagree with the likewise. it was a success for the U.S. because we were expected to lose. By drawing, the u.s. still has a shot at qualifying first. Hence the 1-1 win, great success etc. etc.
June 14, 201016 yr  Everyone has their own opinions I guess. :nice: I really wasn't expecting the US to play as well as they did, anyways! :P
June 14, 201016 yr  Everyone has their own opinions I guess. :nice: I really wasn't expecting the US to play as well as they did, anyways! :P Of course not, because you were being realistic!:D
June 14, 201016 yr you needed GMA to explain that?Yes, because I will outright admit that my soccer knowledge is as close to nil as you can get. Besides knowing that the objective is to kick the ball into the net, I don't really know that much about it.
June 14, 201016 yr Yes, because I will outright admit that my soccer knowledge is as close to nil as you can get. Besides knowing that the objective is to kick the ball into the net, I don't really know that much about it. A bit like most fans of Sex In The City and Desperate Housewives, then!:P

June 14, 201016 yr Eeeewww; I am NOT a fan of EITHER of those! * GAG * What kind of an imbecile do you take me for?!? I didn't mean YOU were a fan, just that the general demographic that watches those shows wouldn't have a clue about football either!:P
