FINISHED! SOUTH AFRICA 2010 WORLD CUP!!

Featured Replies

New Zealand got the first point ever in a World Cup!

It was a boring match though, but the All Whites' equaliser at injury time was worth watching it! :D

I was sooo jazzed to hear about them scoring!!! I would LOV E LOVE LOVE for them to win, or even get to the 3rd round lol but who knows...

I'm also impressed with the Americans!!! They are a different team from that of the last world cup and definitely an improvement from the Olympics, I was very proud. We'll take the point, thank you very much! But I will say, I felt bad for the goalie on the English team... :(

Tomorrow plays Uruguay against South Africa!! :D

Suda africa....se viene la CELESTE!! ;)

It's terrible how Robert Green has become a household name around the world now! As one of millions who witness the English Premier League week in week out, we would never know that the man from lowly West Ham would go on to be a world star - an infamous one in that!

p.s - Robert Green made his England debut IN the U.S back in June 2005 only they were playing Colombia that day and Sir Michael Owen scored another classy hattrick in a 3-2 win!

I know. That's going to follow him around for the rest of his career, whatever happens............................. :(

Green's reaction was hilarious.

These are pretty much all of the uses the vuvuzela is good for, so far...

Some of the vuvuzelas carry this sign as a warning, how nice of them to remind us of something that is so logical.

Alright, so I DVRed the brazil match has I had to be in town during it, and I just finished watching it back.

The Brazilians seriously disappointed me in the first half, and even much of the 2nd. Knowing they were up against the weakest ranked team, it seemed they underestimated north korea enough to where they thought they could get by with individual ball-handling alone. This was true at midfield where it didn't take more than a couple step-overs for Brazilian players to beat their man, but everytime they neared the box their approach hit a brick wall. The biggest problem was that they didn't stretch out, but constantly had three or four players in the middle of the box. North Korea had sound enough fundamentals to just crowd the box leaving Brazil with nothing left but a very long shot.

For the first half Brazil acted like a bunch of cocky high-schoolers auditioning for the Harlem Globetrotters, they'd waltz across the field, but anytime they neared the goal they realized that teamwork was necessary so the best they could try was a sketchy give and go. They had talent but no fundamentals of how to score, while the North Koreans had little talent, but enough fundamentals to know how to stop a really poor attacking strategy.

I bet Brazil would've won handily against a higher-ranked team because then they wouldn't have tried the nonsense they did today.

so awesome!

Let us know how your shoe tasted! :P

surprisingly scrumptious with a little cream cheese and lemon juice under the tongue.

Agreed completely. They went into the game with way too much confidence, and it nearly cost them a loss. Not to mention my fantasy team which lost 5 points when N Korea scored

Me too broseph, me too.

Spain v Switz

no torres no fabregas. so spain will have to settle with david villa and silva. sucks to be spain hey! and they also have these random guys in their midfield called Iniesta, xavi and alonso.

WTF. What a let down Furia Roja!

Switzerland was about to score the second goal! It was a really great play! Now Iniesta's out, those aren't good news... Come on Spain I know you can do well!! :bigcry:

Match is over. Fuck. Damn it. Shit. The biggest surprise we've seen in this world cup thus far.

What a huge upset. I was only really supporting Spain because of my fantasy team, but after the goal I was actually pushing for Switzerland. Spain didn't play particular bad either, they got too bunched up in the box at times and they weren't razor sharp but they had plenty of chances.

Switzerland - tactically SPOT ON. Ottmar Hitzfield showing just why he won two Champions Leagues with Dortmund and Bayern. Sensational result - almost akin to Senegal v France in 2002. But at the end of the day, Spain were just too predictable. Hitzfield clearly told his team to push Spain out wide rather than through the deadly Spanish middle of Iniesta, Xavi and Alonso and it worked wonders! And when Torres and Navas came on all Spain did was spread the ball to Navas on the right and it became way way too predictable. What a result!

I hate Spain...I'm not raging because they lost...I'm raging because Casillas lost me 5 fucking points.

Hahaha nah it's all good Chris. Your advice was a pretty safe bet. Shit happens when you gamble.
