Possibility #2 is that the band isn't up to vocals yet and are just working on refining instrumentation (which doesnt make sense considering the band usually do everything together) or Possibility #3 is that the recording process is becoming tiring and they're taking a break and coming back with fresher and more open minds to the material they have been recording.
