It's not because I'm a fangirl (I am, though :P); I really enjoyed his album. It was fun and I really got into it. :awesome:

Good for you.

:laugh3: Thank you for being nicer than I would be in an effort to get an answer to a question I was also considering asking.

A little of respect goes a long way, especially when there are few people around here whom aren't defensive about their music.

Don't take it personally. It's just there have been many reviews and opinions suggesting that his solo effort has been a bit flop, but it my eyes, he did a better job than richard ashcroft. May i suggest looking at some of the band/album at the top of some of the others lists to get some ideas to make up the rest of your list. There are plenty of very decent albums that are worth taking a look at.

Yeah, I don't mind it if people ask a question like that, but when they're rude then I get annoyed. :P So thank you.

Yeah, I was a bit surprised by the bad reviews. I thought that, looking at Brandon Flowers and forgetting about the Killers, it was an interesting direction and his voice fit the music very well.

And thank you for the suggestion, I've been trying to listen to more bands. :P I just never know where to start; there are so many of them!

Gorilla Manor[/url], is definitely not eligible? And we aren't voting for the All Delighted People EP? (I don't think we should. It's under an hour, its only got eight tracks and he has recently released an album as well. Plus, saying that it could be eligible because its really long album is like saying that an album that goes for 30 minutes should be eligible for EP of the year, in otherwords, it doesn't make sense). Also, WE AREN"T ALLOWED TO VOTE FOR IN RAINBOWS?!?
Yeah, Gorilla Manor is definitely out. :( Sorry. Old rules and there for a reason. One of the classic award season conundrums with cutoff dates. I'm still stewing over Burial's "Untrue" years later- it came out in November too.

Sufjan I leave your hands. Do I hear yeas? Do I hear nays?

No, In Rainbows time has passed. :p

Ok, well if you are interested start with:

Beach House - Teen Dream

Broken Social Scene - Forgiveness Rock Record

The National - High Violet

And work you way outwards from there.

That's Ok. Lots of people still know it exists and there are plenty of good records to choose from this year.

And I say Nay. Anyone else?

Yeah, Christina! I talked to you about The National yesterday. Bryce speaks the truth. It'll probably be in my Top 10 at the very least, if not my Top 5.

im still at least 2 months from putting together a short list. but it has been really interesting reading your lists so far, especially those of you who have listened to more than 20 albums this year.

on the sufjan issue. i refuse to accept it as an EP but i dont think sufjan intended it to be taken as a proper studio album. so out of respect for sufjan i'll say that it shouldnt be considered for the album of the year list.
