Okay, you guys. What is this? I can't even believe some of you people are acting like this. I just feel really disappointed. I know all of you wanted to be here - but there's no need to get angry or us or the band for not being able to tell you every little detail.

The record company decided that and we all signed contracts as not to reveal any details. I don't know about the rest of you but I don't want to be charged with anything.

I had a wonderful night with some of the best friends in the world and that alone means the world to me. Being a part of a Coldplay video was icing on the cake, of course.

I do get that a lot of people who were there may be a bit disappointed - but come on... We're in a video. I think that's cool. I would of course have loved to meet the band but seeing them from afar and getting their feedback on our performance was pretty good as well.

I don't know... I'm just really tired and I just got really upset that some of you are reacted the way you did.

Anyway, thank you to all of you who were there! See some of you tomorrow.

(Oh, and thank you, Kat, you're a sweetheart!)

EDIT: Oh, and about the song. Natascha and I were crying when we heard it. I really like it a lot. It's sad, Christmas-y and wonderful. I can't wait to hear it again.

I must say, I sympathise with the people who were a little disappointed. Yes, it was their decision, but to fly halfway across the world to not even get to meet Phil and Matt... I dunno, I'd be a little disappointed too.

I was going to go before my parents said, "There is no way you're flying to London next week to go on some boat ride." I realise people are going to get annoyed at me or whatever for this, but I just had to give my two cents as a pretty hardcore Coldplay fan from Australia.

Here's a public link to my photo album on FB.

it's not much but there are two awesome photo's of me and Chelsea

and some coldplayers on the boat

and some nice views :)

EDIT: oh, and my signed mince spies! :)

/edit (in your face)

Tnx for this! :D

:( I know exactly how you're feeling Nic...

I'm glad I'm not alone in finding these people that believe they were jipped, unbelieveably selfish...

Next time we will go, and we will have the time of our life.

Okay? :nice:

Okay! :cheesy:

Well, I mean, they weren't guareented to meet the band.

Like, Phil, Matt and Miller were going to be there to ask questions, not to sign books and have a photo op.

I mean, this is something special, beig in a music video.

When Coldplay fnd out that people didn't like it, they're never ever going to invite usto do something this secial again.

and real ly, I don't find that fair to the fans that would be overjoyed to participate in this...

So are the answers to the questions also meant to be kept secret? Or is there a thread with the Q&A's?

How can you be dissapointed? That's ridiculous.

I seriously can't believe you would say that.

That's biggest slap in the face top the people who wanted to be there, and would have enjoyed being in their music video. I would have come from new jersey for that.

That' so selfish of you, just selfish, really...

I couldn't agree more!

They never said the band would be on board of that boat. Nobody made any promises about meeting them. What did you complainers expect?

I would have given anything to be able to be there. Some people even met the band afterwards at the Beehive or at the set. But even if you didn't, you are now in a Coldplay video and you got to meet other Coldplayers. I would be so happy to have had that opportunity!

Please stop complaining and be happy with your experience.

BTW I read the complaints even reached Chris and he felt like he needed to apologise. That is so sad :(

OMG AND HE JUST SAID THAT THEY WILL BE ANNOUNCING THE TOUR DATES ON MONDAY!

:dead:

:dead:

I know what I want for Christmas/my birthday!

If this happens, it would be such good timing!

I really think this is a red-herring guys. Phil told someone there is still a lot of work to be done on the album - they won't be making tour dates public yet

I hope so, we should go!

If they make a next one... now that hey know that people didn't like it...

I never said they were going to be public.

Yeah, I understood what you meant, but some people are now talking about Coldplay tickets as Christmas presents - I really don't see that happening

If they're doing summer festivals then they're obviously going to have a show ready to take out on the road, and stadia/arenas must have to be booked well in advance. I just think those people who are now assuming the tickets will be on sale to buy/have bought as Christmas presents are going to be disappointed

I'm going to address the whole disappointment issue one last time and then I'm done. Because the whole thing is irking me, I just want to have one last say from my perspective on things and then I'm just going to tune it all out.

I talk a lot, so it's under a spoiler. Read or don't read.

Everyone's entitled to their opinion. That's fine. I know some people were expecting more than we got, especially ones that spent a lot of time and money to get there, and I think that some disappointment inevitably follows from there. I also do agree that Coldplay HQ probably shouldn't have told us one thing was definitely going to happen and then not deliver on it. But the way I see it, they probably thought that we (or most of us) would actually be more excited to actually be in a Coldplay video than to talk to members of the team, and thought they were trumping what they originally promised us. Some people have speculated that the whole event wasn't thought through, but I choose to believe that they honestly had the best intentions at heart. I can't blame them for that. Maybe they got it wrong for a lot of people, but I certainly don't think for a second they thought "haHA, let's lure them to the boat with grandiose lies so we can use them as free labor in our video!"

I guess what frustrates me most about this whole debate are two things: one, that people, even disappointed people, aren't seeming thankful or happy about the opportunity we did end up having, which was being in a fricking Coldplay music video. OK, we were extras, and OK, we probably won't be that individually visible, but regardless, the experience is one that hundreds of others would have gladly taken, and to say harshly over and over that we wished we hadn't gone at all because it wasn't worth it, at least in public, is disrespectful both to the people that would have gladly taken your place and the people who worked to put on this event for us.

I also just think it's beyond the pail to rant about how we had to pay for our own drinks, how we didn't get signed stuff, or how they all had "no idea what they were doing" with regards to us. OK, yes, they probably could have afforded to give us an open bar, and we do know they have stacks of pre-signed stuff laying around to pass out to people, and those would have been nice touches. But I think it's pathetic to latch onto such trivial things and wave them about as failures when the overall experience was both an amazing opportunity and a good time if you let yourself have one.

I've seen a lot of people say that they're going to have a word with Debs about all this. Everyone should do what they're comfortable with doing in whatever situation they find themselves in in life, I say. But I'm also going to be harsh and say that I think that's beyond inappropriate. If you went to a big party thrown by a friend or something and ended up having a disappointing time, would you then ring them up the following day and say "wow, your party sucked! Here's why I had a bad time and here are all the ways you could have made it better"? I obviously understand any email sent to her would be more tactfully written than that, but that's the essence of what I've seen people say they want to get across to her. I just think it's completely unnecessary to express negative sentiments about something they graciously set up for us, spent money on, and gave us the opportunity to be a part of, even if you did end up being disappointed. It's bad manners, if nothing else. It's the exact opposite of a thank-you note: it's a "nice try, but all your work totally let me down" note. And I can't imagine many people would write a note like that to anyone else that threw them a party or gave them a gift or opportunity. Most people would probably swallow their disappointment and shrug it off, and regardless of how high anyone's hopes were for this, I think the same should be practiced here for the sake of manners and good board-band relations. They'd probably never try anything like this again for us if they got wind of even half of what people have been saying on here, and that just ruins it all for so many people that didn't get this chance.

I guess the reason I wasn't disappointed is that I went into it with an open mind. Yes, I did expect Miller/Matt/Phil, but I also understand that once the surprise was brought to light, logistics kept them from being there, and I understand that. Logistics and responsibilities often win out over desire, and Phil told me later that he really wished he could have been on the boat with us, and that he planned to be, but then he found out he was actually supposed to act in the video and couldn't have possibly been there. To me that's a completely viable excuse. I also just plain old had a great time participating in the video. Yeah, it was cold, yeah, we were just extras, but I had a great time talking to people and being a part of something cool and big...especially something that means so much to me. Being an extra in a feature film or having a bit part in a commercial wouldn't mean nearly as much to me as being an extra in a Coldplay video would, because I love and appreciate everything Coldplay do so much, and they mean so much to me.

I know people are going to say my positive attitude on all this is just because I got to be on set all night and meet the band and get stuff signed. Think what you want. But upon leaving that boat, before going to set and before I even had a hope of meeting any of the band members or Phil, I was damn glad I'd come down for that boat party. Not only because I actually had a good time and got to be even a small part of something that means so much to me, but because I also appreciated what I believe they were trying to do, whether they succeeded or not.

I'm sending a thank-you note to Debs from me and no one else. Everyone else can do what they want, and maybe they already have, but I urge you to think about your actions before committing them and put them in context of another similar situation and what you've been taught about manners.

Chelsea out.

Well, it just means that they probably won't do anything involving coldplayers directly in the future as I doubt they want to risk high expectations, disappointment and bad feelings again. Having fans in the video isn't something they had to do and, to be honest, after the complaints, if I were them I wouldn't bother again either!

I am really sorry that the boys have been informed of all the complaining. They do so much for fans and good causes it's a shame that the feedback they will be told about is people's complaints. I wonder how they feel now meeting and having photos etc with coldplayer fans at the bakery knowing the complaints that they made... I hope they also realize some people had a great time and were happy to be in the video.

:P

I don't want the band to be sad about the fans disapointement. Even if I was not there, I would like to thank Coldplay, Debs, and all the other people who gave the fans such an opportunity.

Thanks Chelsea ... I couldn't have put it any better.

And getting paid for dealing with logistics everyday, I know what it's like when suddenly unforeseen changes to a proper and well-thought-through plan occur ... :(

I'm going to address the whole disappointment issue one last time and then I'm done. Because the whole thing is irking me, I just want to have one last say from my perspective on things and then I'm just going to tune it all out.

Nicely said!

And yes, you all are going to be a part of a Coldplay video. I don't understand how can people not appreciate that.

This is maybe going to sound awful but people who traveled half of the world or even 10km didn't give their last dollars/euroes/pounds/ or whatever for this. So I think you should all be thankful for everything. You went to London, you met people from the board, you probably had a great time singing karaoke and YOU ALL ARE IN COLDPLAY VIDEO!

I'm sorry for even saying anything, cause I wasn't there. But I do think that most of the people that didnt have a chance to do this are just JEALOUS of you, so at least be happy for that!

i am actually shocked that some people were disappointed about the boat trip! i mean i wudda done anything to get on that boat and i know alot of people here who put there names down and didnt get to go would have appreciated it more!

not only where u part of, i guess, history but ur part of the new coldplay video and im guessing you heard wedding bells before anyone else!

i guess next time somthing like this happens it goes to people who would appreciate it more then others cuz these opportunities dont come often

I really really agree with you Chelsea. I can't believe how selfish and stupid these people are. They got an INCREDIBLE opportunity for which a lot of people like me would have died for. They didn't get the Q&A? Well first of all they have to understand that this is the real world, and they can't complain if Phil really wanted to come but had to stay on the set because of the delayed filming, or because there were logistic problems.

THEY ARE IN A FUCKING MUSIC VIDEO WITH COLDPLAY.

Coldplay made them a much bigger gift and surprise and not only they don't seem excited at all, the continue to moan and complain as well. I think it is really selfish and unfair.

To us, because if you're a TRUE coldplayer you wouldn't complain about not having what you expected or thought, you'd have been EVEN HAPPIER to be immortalized forever in a coldplay video and to become PART OF THEIR HISTORY, and to the boys, wich have done something that no other band and proved themselves once again to be ultra-generous and close to the fans. They were awesome and so sweet to give us this opportunity, I can't believe that some people don't realise how lucky they were and were so selfish to complain with the boys and debs to. They were given and amazing opportunity and not only they didn't appreciate, but they spoilt it for other people who were hoping that something like this might happen in the future again. I really can't believe it...

Now your post is making me angry.

Are you trying to establish a religion? The true path to Coldplay salvation? :inquisitive:

I'm sending a thank-you note to Debs from me and no one else. Everyone else can do what they want, and maybe they already have, but I urge you to think about your actions before committing them and put them in context of another similar situation and what you've been taught about manners.

Chelsea out.

Very nicely put Chelsea!

@ coldplay are forever & a few others

I wouldn't go that far saying the people who 'complain' are selfish or/and stupid. That's too harsh and completely ignorant of you to call them like this. :(

They express their opinion even though I still think it's a little unfair to CP & the people working for them.

Like Chelsea already said: Would you complain about a bad/boring party you were invited to by one of your friends? Would you say the music sucked, the food sucked or the drinks sucked, given that it was for free?

Coldplay invited 100 fans to a boat cruise on the river Thames. If they made this offer through the website and 90 % of the people attending were 'non-coldplaying' people, then I'm pretty sure that people would have complained as well.

What I want to say is, this trip was completely free of charge, you didn't need to pay for a ticket or so, so if you get something for free, do you really have the 'right' to complain about non-met announcement/events?

This is more rhetorical, so not really a question. More like food for thought kinda like ...
