Is This It album covers

Which do you all prefer? Bubble tracks or creepy leather glove on unidentified ass?

Personally I love the bubble tracks, not only because of what a beautiful picture it is, but because of where they came from, plus there are FIBONACCI SPIRALS in the way bubbles go, which is just fucking awesome <3. I can't decide which fits the album itself better, though.

For reference:

Leather glove:

Also, don't give me that bullshit about how "it's an arm, not an ass!". Hands are not that tiny when compared with shoulders. Case closed.

Bubble tracks

It makes the album a hell lot more interesting, godfathers of landfill indie

I read This is It, I like the first one.

The second one is creepy.

bubble tracks, I have that edition

I like the first one, the second one grosses me out. :|

because of where they came from

Where did they come from?

The second one. Enough said.

Where did they come from?

^That. :|

Physics lesson!! :cheesy: I'll make it simple cuz it's kind of complicated (plus I don't understand all the complicated bits anyway :P)

These bubble tracks come from a bubble chamber, which is basically a big sphere filled with liquid hydrogen that's heated very specially and then pressurized very specially so that it becomes slightly magic, and then ions are fired through the liquid, and because of the magic properties of the heated and compressed liquid, the ions vaporize the liquid as they pass, leaving bubble tracks behind them. The tracks can be used to study all sorts of stuff about the ions and etc. There's a magnetic field in the chamber, which makes the bubbles form the patterns they do like on the album cover, in cute little helical paths.

Most importantly/famously, bubble tracks have provided evidence for the electroweak theory, which unifies the electromagnetic force with the weak nuclear force and also made it possible to discover two kinds of particles (W and Z bosons, they are really important). Besides the good science they've done, though, most physicists like them also because they produce really really beautiful images, like the one on the album cover (that's a particularly nice one) and others like these:

:wacky: Aren't they pretty? I think they're a reasonably common tattoo design as well.

^ That's why I like the hot girl with the leather glove. It's far less complicated.

I prefer the second (technically first) one. I think it better emphasizes the tone of the entire album. The bubble track doesn't relate to anything.

I know a lot of people regard the ass cover as the "true" cover or whatever because it was first, but I just never thought it fit the album. I don't think the particle collisions do either, but I think it comes a hell of a lot closer to being appropriate for the music than the ass/glove. I also just think they're pretty :wacky:.

Agh, this is tied with A Rush of Blood to the Head as my favorite album of all time .

^I don't know why but I'm fucking obsessed with it right now.

I prefer the Bubble tracks version, that's the one I have.

I always thought the first one was a stylized globe map with spiral embellishments on it. Sort of like they want to take over the world or something.

It's pretty, whatever it is. But then I have a thing for spirals.

i prefer the ass one. hardly ever seen the bubbles one. is it an american thing?

just for the record. easily one of the greatest albums ever written.

why is it an american only thing? i thought they liked asses, they did vote in bush jnr twice.

It's the cover for the American version, which is different from the rest-of-the-world version by that album cover because Americans are massively puritan and cannot tolerate asses apparently.

Also there's one track they took off the American version because it came out like 3 days after 9/11 so they took out the song called New York City Cops cuz they said they "ain't too smart", which is a little derpy to say shortly after 9/11

Just kidding, I googled it to be sure and the band decided to use the bubble tracks after the worldwide release but before the US release, because they thought it was cooler apparently. That's actually a relief because I didn't think record companies sucked enough to say no to the ass haha.

which is perfectly understandable. i've always thought that The Strokes and their look/attitude epitmoised 21st century NYC but ive never been so i might be wrong.
