When do you think LP5 will come out?

Featured Replies

As I said a few weeks ago album released after festival dates where we could see around 5/6 new songs. Good tactic. No one complained when they put on that incredible show at Glastonbury 2002 where everyone only really knew Yellow and Trouble so it shouldn't be a problem at all. Possibly a tour starting in November starting in the UK and then doing the whole world after Christmas.

You cant compare this healine slot at glastonbury to their slot in 2002!its totally different!back then they were still a new band coming through, they had to play new songs because they didnt have enough to fill a whole set!now they have 4 albums backed up!

I just don't believe its right or fair on fans to use such a huge platform like glastonbury to play new unrecognised songs.
In the same way that people don't pay £150 on a Glastonbury pass just to see Coldplay?

Im not having a go at them, because i am positive when i see them it will be amazing to hear the new tunes. IMO i just feel that i would appreciate it even more if i heard them before the festival. (as im sure most people would)

I'm torn with new stuff being played for the first time live vs. being released first.

Whenever I have gone to any live show to see a band, and they come on and say "This is alittle song off our new album", I tend not to really pay too much attention to it, but if I had heard it, pre concert, I recognize it and enjoy it more.

This festival outlook will most likely be older songs with 1 or 2 new thrown in.

I also tend to agree with the poster about Glasto and LP2, it was a different time, they played their new stuff for the lack of older material, and this time, they have a much bigger catalog of material.

I just dont understand why are will play 1 or 2 and the rest old tunes. They only have 4 albums worth of tunes. If this is the case IMO it would abit of an anti-climax!but hey im sure most people will be happy by that!

I'm not sure I follow you:thinking: They certainly aren't gonna play the whole new album for their setlist, that's why I thought it would only be a debut of 1 or 2 new songs..IF the album has yet to be released.:\

Who's to say they'd play any new songs?

Nobody. Although I think it would be a bit pretentious of them to only play old stuff.

it's different, they weren't that famous then so there wasn't high expectations. I just hope they don't do the viva show again and at least take time to prepare a different show

That's not the issue I feel. The fact is they pulled it off amazingly and you don't need to know the songs to realise what an experience/performance they put on.

Agree, I just can't imagine them not playing something new to try it out in a concert setting like the festivals, I'm sure they would be itching to try a few out:thinking:

I hope all that's going enjoy themselves and soak it all up:)

The experience then was 'wow heard some great songs by that new band coldplay'. Now the same fans that said that would have gone and seem them live at the VLV Tour as we all did nearly 2 years ago!I dont think coldplay can justify playing all these HUGE shows to just showcase a few tracks! They MUST have a release date before these shows.

The problem i have here is based on these 'rumours' going around. It could turn out that they do what i expect them to do and announce details very soon and release the album in June time. That way we will be the first to see these new great songs live yet also have time to take the album in and appreciate it more!

I think they can do these festivals with only a couple of new songs, it's not the start of the LP5 tour, at least that's what I'm thinking, unless I'm wrong :\

I really really don't see the problem with showcasing new songs before releasing the album.

ok heno, theyre playing these festivals 1) because when they made these plans they thought the album was coming out in may as locust said, and 2) summer is the best time to play shows so if theyre not touring then they HAVE to play festivals. its simply about money in that case.

and locust is a reliable source, he didnt just hear violet hill, he heard just abou the entire album. he also new when everything was coming out. he clearly has some sort of source. he hasnt lied to us before so why would he tell us he KNEW what was going on this time if he didnt?

how can we not believe him? its like if he ran into a village and said "theres about to be an earthquake!" and everybody was like "ya right"...then theres an earthquake! then he runs into the same village a couple years later and goes "the volcano is about to erupt!" and everybodies like ".........screw u, u were right last time and ur always right about everything but i think ur makin it up this time!"

so.....

I respect your opinion and can understand it would be exciting i guess but i just dont think a festival is the right place. When i heard they were doing festivals my initial reaction was great they must be creating a masterpiece and are really confident. However this delay doesnt make sense.

I agree it looks weird. The only logical explanation they confirmed festivals and then delayed album release. They can't cancel Glastonbury, so this festivals would be like a little warm up with couple of singles.

Well after A&R interview I could also confirm that album would be released in Autumn. And if not, well, you know, plans has changed again.

haha, true, it can simply be made up and if anyone else said it i wouldnt believe it, but its not just anyone, its locust.

lost you on the whole earthquake/volcano example... If locust is reliable why does he come on say something then just leave?i just dont see the reliability in someone who found songs which someone leaked on the internet as a reliable source. Did he go into the studio and take it?did someone in the band say here mate take a listen this? He found a leaked file on the internet, it doesn't make him the insider for information. Another point you mentioned which kind of supports the confusion i have over this is when you mention MONEY."ITS SIMPLY ABOUT MONEY IN THIS CASE"! Why on earth should coldplay be thinking about money! They all have millions in the bank, they should treat glastonbury etc with the respect it deserves and i hope that is not a reason for them doing these festivals.

I love how this all 'waiting-for-the-album' time has become a kind of a soap opera, starring locust and his misterious sources... :laugh3:

coldplay dont need money, their record company appreciates it though.

and why are u trying to say that locust heard stuff on a leaked file when uve already stated that he heard it off someones ipod? regardless of how locust gets his information (im dying to no too), he gets it and when he says he nos something id recommend trusting him because hes done a lot to earn our trust in the past. u cant just deny his reliability because u dont like the information hes giving us. if he said "i can confirm that the album will be out by may" ud have been like "yaaaaaaaaaaaaa i think hes pretty trustworthy"

I thought they played Glasto free

just wait for the part where LP5 turns out to have an evil step brother named LP6 and they fight to the death after LP6 has an affair with LP5's girlfriend

'' Why on earth should coldplay be thinking about money! They all have millions in the bank"

I don't know what world you grew up in, but in mine, I grew up knowing

the more you make, the more you owe.

Their continuing to work, at whatever venue, should come as no surprise to anyone ! There are many others who actually depend on them to make their livings as well.
