Sure, I'd be happy to answer anything you like :nice:

Also, if you need any help finding some of the more "obscure" music, let me know!

I'm really glad you enjoyed the tape, it feels good when something you worked on is appreciated so much :cheesy:

Thanks a lot :nice:

I'll surely do when I'll have little more time, currently having a lot of work :disappointed:

I'm glad to see that my enthusiasm made you feel good :cheesy:

Oh and I listened to '(I Know) A Girl Called Jonny' a few more times and I really like it now!

hi here is my review. My English is not very good for this but I'll try to write :D :D

TRACK-1 : A weird song :D It sounds like they're talking each other on walky talky..It's not like a song. obviously it's a very different genre for me.

TRACK-2 : At first I thought this is continue of first track. But then when i listened middle part of song it sounds very similar for me. Have this song ever used in a movie or advert? I love the chorus part.I got this pictures bla bla bla sounds very familiar. It must be used in a moviee!! :D

TRACK-3 : The beginning is very slow it relaxes your brain after Track 2 which is good :) Then you can hear the motion and vocal. what a lovely voice!!! Is this boy or girl??? Definetely a boy. :)

TRACK-4 : yeaaa very energic beginning :) :) Vocal remindes me Fall Out Boy. It's a genre which i love.. I'm getting very curious who they're.

TRACK-5 : entry is piano then vocal. lovely voice and piano melodies like Colplay. I love vocal and it seems familiar again i know them but i can not recognize who they're (uuhh this is annoying!) I REALLY LOVED THİS SONG. Especially his voice in 2.20 with piano..This songs going good with an old photos video.

TRACK-6 : I know this song but I can not recognize it again!! ( I think I have some brain problems :D ) Is this a Eurovision song?? Very energic song and remindes me Mika-Grace Kelly. I wanna dance haha :D

TRACK-7 : haha there is no lyrics just instruments. Guitars sound like heatbeating. You can use this song in a catch scene in a movie :D

TRACK-8 : This is a different genre for me again. I love vocal's voice but i don't love electro songs :/

TRACK-9 : I can hear "In the nightl" repeatedly... but lovely vocal again :)

TRACK 10 : Ohh the beginning melted my heat :D Lovely voice and lyrics again :D I wonder who they're..

TRACK-11 : I though this is an old band. Remindes me Queen but of course they're not. Vocal's voice sounds like he is suffering :/

TRACK-12 : hoh he says too fast.hip hop style. He is telling something about student life. I wonder if what the lyrics are.

TRACK-13 : very energic!! You can dance with this song at a disco lol :D

TRACK-14 : this sounds like 90s punk rock bands which I loved but then I hear alternative guitar sounds and bring me again 2000s. After 3.min is very good.

TRACK-15 : I loved the beginning lyrics 'DO YOU DREAM?' very good lyrics.. and Vocal's voice is very different. This song can be effect lots of people very deeply.

TRACK-16 : Oh this remindes me Kings of Leon ! Lovely guitar solos and drum sounds. This must be Kings of Leon but you can understand that they re not kings of leon from Vocal's voice.

TRACK-17 : Different genre again..but good instrumentals. Maybe this song will go well with more rock sound in my opinion

TRACK-18 : Is this 30 Seconds to Mars?? This can be the 'kill' song but I didn't remember exactly. Intruments and vocal's voice are really complete each other but i didn't like electro vocals.

in conclusion; thanks for songs! My mixtaper put different genres of music his/her mixtape and I think this is the aim of this event to taste another types of another people :D I really loved 4,5,6,10 and i'm waiting for names of the songs now :D I'm gonna say again the song 5 really melted my heart and 10 is in my top songs now :)

THANKS AGAIN!!!!!

Both. MGMT - I Found A Whistle. Based on what you said you listened to you should look into these guys.

Ahhh I knew it sounded familiar. I have a few MGMT songs, but I haven't listened to much yet.

I was gonna be brave and use this to introduce you to Radiohead. Didn't quite work out I guess. Suggest you listen to No Surprises or Creep, though.

Radiohead - Go To Sleep (Little Man Being Erased) off Hail To The Thief.

Hmm I do like some Radiohead...I like Creep and 15 Steps a lot, but I haven't listened to tons of them. Obviously not enough to recognize the song :P

Was a bit surprised that you didn't know them. The Arcade Fire - My Body Is A Cage.

Again, I've listened to some Arcade Fire but not much. This seems to be a pattern with me - I find songs I like but then I go off and find something by another band without hearing anything else from the first one. I really should try and be better about that :P

Either you're being very polite or you didn't pay attention, haha. This is a joke.

Definitely was being polite. I had a feeling it was a joke, but as I was writing the review I was like "wait...what if it's not!"

Thanks again and I will definitely be checking out more from some of these bands and listening to the other songs you suggested. :)

Okay, so all apologies off the back, and thanks a ton for for re-uploading the mix after I couldn't get through on rapidshare. Though I had plenty of time on day 1, by the time I got the mix I had essays and projects due each of the following days. However, now it's easter break, I've just had maybe 15 hours of sleep, and I'm raring to appease mah partna wit a wevu. I've listened to it three times already, and right off the back I'm gonna say it might be the best tape I've been given. :D

1. "Living is easy with eyes closed...." Strawberry Fields, but an interesting remix (not like a techno remix...just a different mix, like the Beatles may have done it themselves). This is actually really cool and a great start to the tape. Kudos!

2. The guitar rythm to this had me thinking 'Ob-la-di ob-la-da' at the start. A simple, groovy tune for most of it. British artist. Most interesting though is the stuff going on around him. Funky keyboards/voices jump in randomly, and by the end it gets really congested with fun stuff. I like it, especially the little guitar bridge and the outro. Thanks.

3. Haha, a little tropical jazz comin my way. Def. like the chords and voices (still not sure what they're saying). A nice, exotic little interlude.

4. Sounds like Lou Reed, yeah...95% sure it's the Velvet Underground, though I'm not that familiar with the song. My brother worships them, so no complaints here. In general I really like the retro-ness of this mix.

5. A little electronic distortion and guitar going on, I like the arpeggios and thick ambience, voice sounds like a mix of artists I know, I kinda dig his rambling. Eclectic mix for sure. You're all right mix-maker, you're all right....

6. Steady fade in of a note struggling to stay in place. Enter bluesy music. Ahh...God this feels familiar. I love her voice, and the song has a great earthy vibe. Feel like pulling out the guitar and jamming along. I approve of this music.

7. Groovy rythm followed by singing in a broken rythm to where I can hardly understand the lyrics. It's not bad. not my favorite, but kind of enjoyable.

8. Nice stomping drum rythm. Nice vocals follow. Alright song, the atmospherics of the chorus and bridge are pretty interesting, so I won't write this one off.

9. Another upbeat one with a strong bass. Intense guitars enter, Heavy brit rock. I like the use of distortion and the vocal effects. Still nothing I can say I dislike on this mix.

10. Guitar arpeggios. I like this chord progression, it's kind of unique. Voice is pretty neutral, which fits the mood. Song is repetitive, though that's almost never a vice for me. Not bad.

11. Bluesy guitar and vocals. It's kind of like black keys with an orchestra. Song bounces around a lot. cool.

12. One of my favorites for a reason I can't quite explain. Snappy verse merging into a rock chorus with a constantly moving vocal melody and great lyrics. Song is followed by a few moments of piano.

13. Guitar-driven rock song (wish I had more words to describe stuffs). It's not bad. Decent chorus.

14. I kinda want to inject myself with this song. Love the feel of the keyboards and far-off voices. Ambient, but rythmic and kind of gritty. Great feel to this one.

15. Guitars and harmonica fade-in. I feel like an old guy would reprimand me for not knowing who this is; I definitely like its general vibe though. Good stuff.

16. Softly strummed acoustic guitar...soft vocals and far off chiming instruments and drums. Some reversed stuff there too. Mostly forgettable, but I like the little guitar bridge and fade out.

17. Good pick for last song. Two chords and a bunch of synths and effects...I like your style! Another song I feel guilty for recognising but not knowing. The vocals and guitar are beautiful though. Nice chorus too.

So yeah, a really great mix, I must say. I didn't love everything, but I can't say I hated anything either. And in general it was exciting to hear songs that I liked and definitely wouldn't have come across otherwise.

I hope these compliments somehow make up for the fact that I'm turning in this review so late. :)

Time for my review.

This is really short but I don't have as much time as I thought. I'm sorry.

01 – I like the singer voice. Good rhythm and I can feel some reggae influences. I'm not really into female voice (even if since about 1-2 years I like more and more women voices) but it fits well with the music. And after listen few times the mixtape the song is stuck in my head. Great introduction to the mixtape.

This is "Calling The Maker by Aimee Allen, I don't really have any reason for putting it there, I just liked it so much I had to share it :P

02 – Beck – Loser!! I was about to put it on my mixtape but I removed it at the last minute. So it’s funny to listen to it. And I like that song. One of the catchiest song I know. That summarizes the powerful songwriting and inventive of Beck and hasn't lost any of its power over the years, though.

You said all there is to say really

03 – It sounds like an old song. Probably from 60's. It’s good and fresh. Got to check out more from that singer/band. I like that sort of song.

"Mrs. Brown You've Got a Lovely Daughter By Herman's Hermits, you might be more familiar with their most famous song, "No Milk Today". It's a 60's song you were right about that.

04 – Nice and simple song. And I like the singer voice. Soft but with something interesting and emotional. But that's all, it does not touch me that much.

"Remember When by Liam Finn". This song takes me back to some sadder times to be honest

05 – Eagle Eyes Cherry. It reminds me my childhood!! I don’t really like it anymore though. I've probably listen it too much.

I know what you mean, I've listened to this song a few times too much myself.

06 – English Rose by The Jam!!! This song is really beautiful! My favorite so far on the mixtape. I don't konw that much about The Jam but I love Paul Weller voice. I saw him last summer and it was a great moment.

If you haven't listened to the rest of The Jam's muzic it's mostly nothing like this song, it's more punk-rock.

07 – Transition is hard. I’m still with The Jam. I don’t like it. Its unoriginal and it looks like a bad pop song remix. The voice remaind me the singer of the Killer (I can't remeber his name at the moment) The voice and the music annoy me a lot. I'm sorry :\

And this is where it shows that i didn't have too much time to spend on the mixtape, anywho. This is "An Honest Mistake" by The Bravery, not much to say about this song honestly.

08 – Nice sweet song. As the track 4 I like it simplicity and the voice. But maybe to simple too to remeber it after listen to the mixtape.

"Piazza, New York Catcher" By Belle and Sebastian

09 – I know this one too. It’s The Clash – Train In Vain. I like it.

Glad you liked it :)

10 – Gorillaz – Every Planet we reach is dead.:heart: One of my favorites. And Gorillaz is one of my favorite bands so that’s a good choice for the mixtape. And this song had a fantastic outro.

I was kind of nervous about putting this song on, because I saw how much you like Gorillaz, but if you liked it then I'm happy.

11 – This time, U2 is a bad choice. I don’t like them. But that song is OK.

I don't like U2 for the most part either, but this song I love, I'm sorry you didn't like it too much though. "With or Without You" - U2

12 – I know this song. I don’t know the title but I’m sure it is Bon Iver. Good way to close the mixtape. :)

"For Emma" - Bon Iver. Lovely song.

Except songs 5, 7 and 11 I like the mixtape. And 12 songs it's perfect. But I don’t know it’s like something is missing. Something that makes a good transition between all the songs.

I already know a lot of those songs but I’m impatient to know the complete tracklist and know why you put those songs on your mixtape.

Thank you to my partner, I had a good time. Thank you for The Jam, Gorillaz and the Clash. :smug:

Hey there loudefix i made your mixtape :) I know some of the transitions were pretty bad, i didn't have as much time to make the tape as i thought i would :\

-nomz tapes-

Hi mixtape maker! Your tape was friggin perfect for me, you did such an amazing job and obviously have awesome taste in music. Here is my much belated review, I'm sorry it wasn't in sooner. Oh, and I really liked the cover art you chose with the white 'x'. Thanks for making such a good tape!

1. Did you know that I absolutely adore duets? Cause I do. That combined with this sort of sleepy, smooth sounding music is pretty much perfect. Great choice for an opener.

2. Death Cab, right? I've always liked their style and the vocalist has a beautiful tone, but they just have so much music. Where does a girl start in really discovering them? This song specifically is that little bit too long even though their multi-instrumental bridge in the middle is nice it drags.

3. Hello 1980's synthpop revival! Not necessarily a bad thing, mind you. Nice haunting vocals. I feel like I heard this in a car commercial at some point.

4. Another long-ish one. Honestly, as soon as the vocals came in I skipped over this one the first time. His voice is just whinging at me. Blagh. Tonnnniiiggghhtt is speeecciiiaall.

5. Brandon Flowers! This must be from that solo album I couldn't bring myself to listen to, yeah? I love love love his vocal style, truly I do, but without the rest of the killers I just feel like somethings missing and the vocal gets to the point of self-indulgence...what do ya think, should I download the rest of the album? Is it worth it? I do like this track despite my misgivings.

6. Would you believe I didn't notice the length of this one until I hit the replay button? Too busy bouncing along. I really liked the strings in the background throughout. The layered vocal for the chorus was nice too. Kind of dark, kinda epic sounding. Kinda awesome.

7. I Looooove Mumford & Sons! The Cave is such a good song :D Great choice.

8. Good tune. I feel like I've heard the instrumentals before. Chorus is catchy. It's a similar style and sound to a bunch of other bands I really like so I'll definitely be listening to this one again.

9. Hey, I've been hearing this one on the radio for a while now. Good driving music. Would probably fit in well with my workout playlist, the beat is pretty great. Vocal is nice, smooth even with the speed.

10. I like the transition from the last track to this one. Such good instrumentals! Love the bass! but....haaaaate the vocals. If anyone else sang this song I'd probably love it. Have to skip it instead because of his voice. It grates at me.

11. Oh, I like this one. A lot. I love the tinkling piano-like instrument. Just a really pretty song. I can't figure out the singers accent...doesn't matter though, it's still wonderful.

12. Gah, greatly dislike horns. The guys vocal style reminds me of Jason mraz. It's fine. Not really my thing.

13. I feel like doing a disco to this song. The "do-do"s and grunting "huh"s are very 70's. Which is also not necessarily a bad thing. I could see myself dancing around to this one in the near future. They're very different from a lot of the stuff out today.

14. More danceable music! Love it. There is nothing wrong with this track. It'll join number 13 on my dance around the house playlist.

15. Sleepyhead! Passion Pit is awesome. This one is already on that dance playlist.

16. This one fits in nicely after the row of dance tracks. It's like a mixture of all the tracks into one ending song. Dark, smooth, danceable, piano, synth all over the place. Strangely not even close to my favorite, but a good choice to end.

Highlights: 1,6,8,9,11,13,14

Thanks again! :D

Mixtape maker: I'm REALLY sorry I'm so late, but finally, here's my review!

Track 01: (Spanish?) Guitars, some bongo drums and some kinda eerie synths start this track off before the electric guitar kicks in. A nice, chilled out instrumental, good track for the intro.

Track 02: I recognise it from the first note: Too Late by Evermore. Great band, great song! I used to love this song and it’s ages since I listened to it, so it was a nice surprise to find it in here.

Track 03: I’ll admit, I found this track more than a little amusing, with it’s grim, almost gospel-choir-like singing underlying an otherwise pretty light-sounding song. Nice female vocals. It kinda sounds like it belongs to the soundtrack for a movie or a game. I think this one will take a little while to grow on me :P

Track 04: Cute little rock song, the vocalist sounds a little familiar but I can’t pick who it is. Nothing particularly outstanding about this track but at the same time there’s certainly nothing wrong with it either!

Track 05: Another rock song, I like this one quite a bit more. Heavy, distorted guitars mixed in with piano, a few male vocals and even some strings (I love strings :awesome:). I couldn't help tapping my feet along to this one, I’m quite interested to see who this is!

Track 06: Acoustic guitars, trumpets (or some sort of horn, I don’t know). It starts off slow, then stops for a second and then everything kicks in at once, along with some vocals. I really enjoy this type of song, I definitely need to listen to this sort of stuff more often. Very light and upbeat, a little Spanish sounding. I found it a little distracting the way she kept counting up, though

Track 07: The vocals in this song sound like Something Corporate, who I used to listen to when I was a lot younger (before I discovered music I really liked :P). I personally don’t like vocals such as the ones on this song, I’m sorry! Apart from that the song's quite nice though, I like the piano sprinkled throughout the song.

Track 08: More Spanish guitars, though these ones sound REALLY Spanish. I feel like I should be serving red wine and cheese to classily-dressed people when I listen to this song :P Very enjoyable and a very smooth song. I’d like to hear more from this band!

Track 09: More horns, funky bass. More female vocals. Another pretty chilled-out song. The chorus line “Nothing, I said nothing is free” is SO familiar it’s bothering me :bomb:

Track 10: Yet another very familiar-sounding vocalist, again I can’t pick who it is! A sweet, slow, simple and quite atmospheric song that starts to wind down the mixtape nicely.

Track 11: Oooh, a very cute acoustic number! Reminds me a little of Josh Pyke but I know it’s not him. Very interested to find out who this one is!

Track 12: Another vocalist I’m not extremely keen on, I might be thinking of the wrong artist here but it reminds me of Jack’s Mannequin? I don't dislike the song though, and it's a nice way to end the mixtape.

So, mystery mixtape maker, thank you A LOT for putting this together for me! I thoroughly enjoyed listening to it and I look forward to finding out the tracklisting, I'm quite keen to hear more from some of those artists! Thank you!

Nice mixtapes guys! :bomb:

^^ I have a very strong feeling I know who made your tape.

Violet, how you know everything???? :bomb:

To my mixtape maker,

I stand accused of not submitting my review yet :embarrassed:

I am sincerely sorry, and I will post it tomorrow. But it is very lovely, and I've listened to it a couple of times now! :P

My partner, sorry. Procrastinate is my middle name, so yeah.

I spent too much time studying. :disappointed:

Sorry for the wait, but my review is ready now.

01. Well, it's a 24-second excerpt with marching sounds. Not much to analyse here. BTW, you forgot to remove "Muse" from the artist field :D

02. I'm not particularly fond of electronic music, but this is a nice song. It should've been a little shorter IMO.

03. Another nice piece of electronic music. Interesting melody, not a fan of the artificial-sounding vocals though (vocoder, perhaps?).

04. Really nice instrumental song. The best so far. Probably from the same artist and album as the previous track.

05. Isn't this one Adele's "Roling In The Deep"? Very good song, but I don't like this acapella version.

06. Chopan! I recognized the moment I started listening to it (also, you forgot to clean the artist field again :P). Amazing composition.

07. According to the ID3 tags, Do You Remember by Jack Johnson. A few friends of mine recommended his music, but I never listened to them (or to his music ). After this wonderful song, I'll try to get to know his songs better.

08. Another very good tune, but what's most interesting is what the artist did to the song. He could've done a regular rock song, but he didn't. It's hard to describe how this song sounds, but I like it.

09. According to the ID3 tags, Why Georgia by John Mayer. A simple yet very beautiful song. His voice is great!

10. Didn't like this track. It feels "empty", nothing actually "happens" in this song.

11. Didn't like this one too. Not sure why though. Maybe it's because I'm particularly picky with latin music.

12. According to the ID3 tags, Winter Winds by Mumford & Sons. It's a very good tune, one of the best so far. The only problem is that it's hard for me to listen to a I-V-vi-IV song after this (don't watch it if you don't want to spoil many songs you like):

13. Another great song. This voice sounds familiar, it's either Thom Yorke or the Muse guy (can't remember his name).

14. A trance remix of The Scientist. Honestly, I don't like remixes at all.

Overall, a very good mixtape. A few songs I dislike, but that's just inevitable when it comes to a picky guy like me. Dear mixtape (which I suspect to be a girl), thank you for making a mixtape for me!

Violet, how you know everything???? :bomb:

I've been on this forum for over two years, spending much of my time in the WoM. The more you surround yourself with other people and observe their music tastes, the easier it is to tell these sorts of things. Like I said, I'm highly observant.

Okay sorry again my mixtape partner. I accidentally deleted the mixtape and I couldn't relocate it from Recycle Bin which means I have to redownload it all over again D:

But I can't download it now since connection reaaaaaaaally sucks today

^^ Thank you for reminding me: If anyone would like a second opinion on their tapes, I'd be more than happy to listen to it and tell you what I think. I already have a good chunk of them from the first links that were posted. :nice:

^ Rudy, you're giving your partner a heart attack right now, haha.

I'd give you a link to my list Violet, but I'm sure you know all the songs :P

i think my partner asploded

i'm not entirely sure i want a review though :|
