Good evening (or morning, if you're down under). We're pleased to report that Coldplay will headline this year's Splendour In The Grass festival in Queensland, Australia.

Tickets will cost $390 (inc gst) Event + $120 (inc gst) Camping + booking fees, which gains entry to the festival for 3 days, from Friday 29 July to Sunday 31 July (the actual date of Coldplay's show is yet to be announced). They go on sale at 9am AEST on Thursday 5 May through Moshtix or by phone on 1300 GET TIX (438 849).

ps - The festival takes its name from a line in a William Wordsworth poem, which you can read here.

COLDPLAY ARE CONFIRMED FOR SPLENDOUR 2011

Hey guys!

Don't know if anyone knows this yet, but Coldplay have been OFFICIALLY confirmed as headliners for Splendour in the Grass 2011. It was announced on Triple J this morning!!!!

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think I'll probably just wait until they inevitably return next year touring their new album. $400-500 is more than I'm willing to pay just for four bands I like.

Im booking flights today. Who is up for a meet up?

just to clear something up. it WILL be coldplay's only aus show.

How do you know this for sure?

Best news to wake up to!

I'm looking at flights right now, but waiting to hear from a friend to see if she'll come with me.

So excited!

How do you know this for sure?

It's on the Splendour website. Kanye's not playing any other Australian gigs this year either.

my chances of going have gone from about 10% last night to about 40% now. won't be booking flights until i have full confirmation from friends. really hoping coldplay doesnt clash with any of my other favourite acts on the line up (which for the record nothing compared to last years)

and as disgusted as i am with the ticket prices i think i'll end up getting the camping ticket because its only $120 extra which is less than what 4 nights accommodation and travel to the site will cost me.

WILL BE THERE!!!!!

Grace is taking me, so just got to organise my flights. Hoping for a 2nd announcement with Beady Eye on it. Sad that AM's weren't on the bill

i'll be very surprised if they announce an act as big as beady eye in the second announcement. if they do you won't be hearing any complaints from me.

Yeah, camping ticket seems more worth the while. And flights to Brisbane are relatively cheap, so score.

My friend wants to go, so it's looking like I'll be heading to Queensland!

Im booking flights today. Who is up for a meet up?

Theres a good chance that i am going :D

but my mum and probably brother will have to tag along with me

I'm working on my fellows here to get a group going up from Adelaide.

I'm still tossing up whether it's worth it, or whether to wait til they do their album tour.

I don't care what the Oracle says, if they're doing festival shows without playing any new material, I'll be sad..especially after $500 to get there etc.

Wait when you think about it

is it worth spending all that money for like 3 or 4 songs?

I thought they'd be playing if not a full set, at least close to. I thought the main acts usually took the stage at around 10PM and were done sometime near 12AM, if I'm not mistaken?

i'm very curious to see what they decide to play at splendour. if they want to please the predominantly triple j crowd it will have to be nothing past 2002 material. if they do they're normal show i guess it will be a mix of hits plus the odd new song.
