fakfak
Their xfactor performance has definitely helped them sales wise over here in the UK. Paradise is second on itunes, MX number three. But Paradise has been in the charts for ages in the uk and i dont really understand why tbh, its not that great of a song, its no where near their best but its spent more time in the charts than any of their previous singles i think. I thought Viva was in the singles charts for an insanely long time. Was it not?

The Red Army
I got this from another site: For UK Sales: "In Comparison With Viva's Sales at the same stage [after 9 weeks]: Viva La Vida 820,895 Mylo Xyloto 867,000 With 2 singles to come [Charlie Brown, Princess Of China], Brit Awards Performance & Nominations, UK Stadium Tour, Possible 5th Single [Hurts Like Heaven] and possibly a EP/Deluxe edition to come i think Mylo has a great chance to sell more copies than Viva at least in the UK." - Source http://www.ukmix.org/forums/viewtopic.php?p=3496072

ColdplayFanatic16
According to this article, it says : "The Brit-pop act is riding high off of their recent Grammy nominations for Best Rock Song, Best Rock Performance, and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance, and they are going to celebrate by visiting select cities across the nation next spring. The band is touring in support of its new RIAA-certified Platinum record, Mylo Xyloto, which has scored the most No. 1 rankings of any album this year worldwide, topping the charts in 34 countries to date." Source: http://lamusicblog.com/2011/12/news/coldplay-announces-2012-north-american-tour/ That is impressive, though wikipedia says it topped in 17 countries. Still good, nonetheless. That's amazing!!!!!!! :) I heard it was 34. I think that the Wikipedia page was outdated.

coldplaymom
2.8 millions according to this source http://atrl.net/forums/showthread.php?t=154319 Not bad at all. They still have more promotions in the next year.

Dan Medina
I take it this is worldwide? What's your source? Mediatraffic. But mediatraffic doesn't count sales of South American countries. In Brazil, MX's is in 60.000 copies. 30.000 in Argentina. If we estimate more 10.000 copies ( with sales of Chile, Peru, Colombia and Venezuela), we can say that MX's sold about 2.977.000+ copies. So, we are closer to 3 million than we though. =)
The Red Army
In the US it has sold 877 000 copies in 8 weeks. "Some other big rock names did just OK. Coldplay sold 877,000 copies of “Mylo Xyloto” in eight weeks … impressive, until you remember their last album sold 721,000 in one week." Source http://www.reuters.com/article/2011/12/27/idUS364656545020111227 It will probably reach a million copies sometime in January.

fakfak
Viva La Vida in iTunes/Apple merchan. effects :D That was also in 2008, when total record sales were a lot higher than now. That Coldplay can still post these kinds of numbers is even more impressive given how many (arguably bigger) "names" have struggled to shift physical albums these days. Plus the new album is proving to have much stronger legs than initially indicated. Couple that with live ticket demand that's the strongest in the band's career and the results are really impressive. RIAA has already certified it Platinum (which technically means it's shipped a million copies, rather than sold at a retail level). Still, from the business perspective, they've already reached a million units here.

Ok, I totally second you... but I think you didn't get what I said. Lol I was just meaning that VLV sales were high because (too, not only) the iTunes/Apple merchandising was huge. The track Viva was the buzz track of the iTunes Store, and have iTunes promoting a CD as they done with VLV in 2008 was like to promote the CD digitally in 80% of the world. ;)
Mimixxx
Just opened iTunes and looked at the charts, Paradise is number 1 and Mylo is number 2 (but only behind a Now That's What I Call Music... album which isn't official chart eligible)
