coldplaymom
How does that compare to Viva and X&Y? It's incomparable. These are different times. So many leaky leaks and bad economy all over the world.
Brent
^ No. They're pretty damn comparable. Why can't people just admit that MX isn't as good? Not a strong lead single and no stellar reviews. Minimal press. X&Y and Viva sold faster (X&Y and Viva hit platinum in 2 weeks). If my memory serves.
Coeurli
^ A record doesn't have to be good to get sold (*cough Justin bieber*). EDIT: Oh, I think I kinda get your point (minimal press and every thing)

It's somewhat comparable, but not equally comparable. When VLVODAAHF was released in 2008 we weren't in the economic slump we are now, and that has had a huge impact on everything. People are a lot more cautious what they spend there money on now. However, i think it's fair to say this album isn't quite as popular as VLVODAAHF. If all things were equal, it would probably have less sales overall. How much less? Who knows. Either way, it's been staying in the charts fairly well here in the states, only slipping a few spots each week. US Billboard 200: MX is at #12 this week, down

The Red Army
According to this article, it says : "The Brit-pop act is riding high off of their recent Grammy nominations for Best Rock Song, Best Rock Performance, and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance, and they are going to celebrate by visiting select cities across the nation next spring. The band is touring in support of its new RIAA-certified Platinum record, Mylo Xyloto, which has scored the most No. 1 rankings of any album this year worldwide, topping the charts in 34 countries to date." Source: http://lamusicblog.com/2011/12/news/coldplay-announces-2012-north-american-tour/ That is impressive, though wikipedia says it topped in 17 countries. Still good, nonetheless. busybeeburns
Midweek Charts update: Coldplay have the X Factor Midweek Charts update: Coldplay have the X Factor Coldplay’s Mylo Xyloto is enjoying its greatest demand at retail since it debuted at number one in the UK in October with the band’s X Factor appearance lifting week-on-week sales by 132%. The Parlophone release currently stands as the week’s third top artist album of the week having sold 86,808 units up to the end of business on Wednesday, according to Official Charts Company Data. That is more copies than in any entire week since the album debuted at number one seven weeks ago with 208,343 sales. The band’s first ever X Factor performance is also significantly boosting their fortunes in the singles market with Paradise, which was seven on last Sunday’s chart, the week so far’s second best seller after more than doubling its sales from a week ago. Only one other Coldplay single, their 2008 chart-topper Viva La Vida, has peaked higher in the UK. http://www.musicweek.com/story.asp?sectioncode=1&storycode=1047883&c=

likeafire
Their xfactor performance has definitely helped them sales wise over here in the UK. Paradise is second on itunes, MX number three. But Paradise has been in the charts for ages in the uk and i dont really understand why tbh, its not that great of a song, its no where near their best but its spent more time in the charts than any of their previous singles i think. If they promote CB as single the same as done with Viva, this song will be the bigger hit of this era, and will be great to help the tour's ticket and cds sells. busybeeburns
"X Factor" winners Little Mix top charts (Reuters) - Girl band Little Mix, who last week became the latest winners of the "X Factor" reality TV show shot to the top of the pop charts on Sunday although they are not expected to hang on to take the coveted Christmas number one spot. The quartet, the first girl band to reach the final of the talent show, recorded the biggest first week sales of a single this year, selling 210,000 copies of their debut release "Cannonball," the Official Charts Company said. However their joy may be short-lived as bookmakers have made the Military Wives Choir, made up of women whose spouses and partners have served with British forces in Afghanistan, hot favourites to be top for Christmas next week. Coldplay moved up five places to second with "Paradise," while Olly Murs, the 2009 X Factor finalist, dropped from number one to third with "Dance With Me Tonight." In the album charts, Canadian singer Michael Buble's seasonal offering "Christmas" knocked British singer Amy Winehouse's posthumous release "Lioness: Hidden Treasures" from top spot. Coldplay were in third with "Mylo Xyloto," with Murs unchanged in fourth with "In Case You Didn't Know," and Rihanna another non-mover in fifth with "Talk That Talk." http://uk.reuters.com/article/2011/12/18/uk-britain-charts-idUKTRE7BH0NH20111218
