Was this Coldplay's best ever Glastonbury?

So did Coldplay better their Glastonbury headlining sets from 2002 and 2005? Do you feel it wasn't as good as the previous two or was it somewhere in the middle?

For me personally tonight's headlining set blew the previous two showings out of the water. It was a miraculous set. For me it was the best headlining act at Glastonbury since Paul McCartney in 2004, and I thought Bruce Springsteen and Blur in 2009 wouldn't be beat!

What's your opinion?

Also interesting quote tonight on twitter from BBC 6 Music presenter Matt Everitt:

"When anyone asks, you can say that was the EXACT moment that Coldplay overtook

U2 as the biggest band in the world #p45forbono #bbcglasto"

I watched it live streamed, still waiting to see it in HD like a dvd.

But., It was TRULLY FANTASTIC.

Im proud of being a Coldplay fan really.

It was way more colorfull and full of energy in comparison to the last ones..

ps :

Since 2005 Coldplay and u2 have been competing about the "biggest band on earth" place.

Many interviews or presentations,Considered Coldplay as the biggest one.

I think with vlv it was even more notorious.

The only thing left,is a tour as big as u2 ones.Playing for 100 000 instead of 50 000

Not only was it their best Glasto in my opinion, but one of their best live performances ever. A truly fantastic setlist of old and new, a flawless execution, and a happiness and energy that was awesome.

They were just on top of their game from start to finish.

I have to admit it was nice. Specially because of the oldies and they always offer a good live show.

Alexa saying nice thing about Coldplay :stunned:

But yes it was quite frankly an overall fantastic show. I just wish they didn't close it with ETIAW cause that song just ruined what was supposed to be an awesome setlist.

I think it was a really good performance but the crowd was shitty at some moments (Everything's Not Lost deserved WAY MUCH singalong that it had), so based on that and the fact that they closed with a, in my opinion, weak song, I choosed the 2005 show. Still, one of my favorite Coldplay show's ever. And we finally got an old stuff/new stuff balanced setlist!

2002>2011>2005

i get your point .__.

i mean, 2002, they played spies, and an awesome Don't Panic !!

2000, not headlining but hey, why not putting that one on too? xD just kidding.

i always loved 2005, so ... diverse, yes. that's my favourite, for square one, white shadows, can't get you out of my head, warning sign and [though i never heard it in full =(( ] swallowed in the sea.

... but the crowd was shitty at some moments...

:shocked2: What?! That crowd was outstanding!

The performance was NOT flawless as someone said earlier - especially the beginning was shaky and unfocused. It seemed to me like the boys aren't comfortable with Hurts Like Heaven yet - that opener did not work at all. But from there it only got better and more awesome and undescribably fantastic - a firework of highlights in almost every song. Nice setlist, although I would've loved one more song from the VLV era - like LiTii or Yes... Loved to hear Shiver again and GPASUYF in that great version!

And I actually do like ETIAW now after first I was a little pessimistic. But that live version was a kicker and a powerful ending of an unforgettable performance.

Oh, which Glasto was best? I'd say 2011>2002>2005 but only because 2002 was sooo special and important for the development of the band!
