  • Lol I haven't been here in 5 years but I decided to pop my head back in for some nostalgia. Seems like this was my last post so here's an update... I finally saw Radiohead live in Manchester in 2017 a

I think he only wanted to trade it with an equally rare recording but since no one had any, he wouldn't share the full thing with us.

He has the full band soundchecks of The Present Tense, Wake Me (Before They Come), and other rarities :(

Radiohead have revealed more on their upcoming tour. Ed O’Brien talked about their 2012 tour with BBC 6Music.

Ed O’Brien spoke with with 6Music on their current live set: “I think the important thing is that it’s got to be a set in itself, it’s got to work. Last time we went out, it felt very much like In Rainbows plus the greatest hits. And it’s not going to be like that this time. I guess it’s going to be predominantly from this record and the last record, and then see which songs fit around that.”

When asked when the tour should take place: “We’re just finalizing dates for next year that will run from the end of february to i guess november. We’ll be in the UK, we’ll be in the US, the usual ports of call.”

And on the type of venues the band will be playing: “Some of the shows will be outside, but the ones in Europe will are gonna be inside and I think that’s very much a reaction to when we played last time, we did all outside shows. We played in the height of summer and compromised our production. We’d like to give Andi, our lighting guy a good crack of the whip of the production. Outdoor gigs can be great, but the sound can get diluted a bit. You miss the bass as well. Outside gigs can be the gigs, but you’re at the mercy of the elements and I think the record demands a space where the music is loud, strong and detailed.”

:awesome:

:awesome:

In regard to Ed's comments on the outside gigs, I think the "diluted" sound issue applies only to open spaces similar to what are used for festivals. Personally I think outside "shed" gigs (amphitheater-style with the stage and first half of seating covered) have much better sound than indoor stadiums/arenas (arenas seem too echoey and the sound just gets blurred together). Although smaller indoor venues might be better.

So in terms of the Detroit area (although given past history they probably won't come here):

DTE Energy Music Theater ("shed") >>>>>> Palace of Auburn Hills (arena).

Not sure how that would compare with the Fox Theater though, it's a relatively small indoor venue that I think seats about 5,000.

please come to Detroit pretty pretty please with a cherry on top

I imagine they'll be playing smaller shows this time around.

I'm so excited for more shows

Do you all know that Radiohead is going in the studio in december for a new record with problaby

'Staircase'

Well Radiohead is a band you can't like if you listen to their songs or albums just 1 time. Also it is a band that focuses on whole albums, not just singles. Try like this:

1. Forget about Creep.

2. Listen to the whole In Rainbows. It's like a mix of new and old Radiohead and probably the sweetest RH album.

3. Listen to In Rainbows again.

4. If you like it, go with Ok Computer and Kid A.

5. Now you probably understand their sound. If you like it just go on...

Hope that's it. ;)

I keep meaning to come back in here and post. I bought OK Computer and I love it. I enjoy it so much, I haven't really tried to branch out yet. I know I'm supposed to try In Rainbows again. Thanks for the suggestions from everybody.
