I'm sorry to hear that for both of you... that really sucks. Hopefully he'll change his mind. That doesn't seem very fair to encourage someone going, having them pay for tickets for shows and airfare and then at the last minute tell them you're not going. If she ends up not going at all I'd have her parents give her all of the money that she or both of you spent... maybe that'll change their mind. Or perhaps she can get a taxi or something to the airport.

Oh guys. :( I think Ivet should still try and find a way to go to see you this Saturday. I'm sure there's some organised public transport from the airport to the city so I don't see the transport as such big a problem. I understand how frustrating it is when parents change their minds so quickly and you're still so young you don't have much choice other than obey them. But she's worked hard to be able to buy the flight ticket and her parents should respect her wishes.

We'd do this, but her town is very small and the city is two hours away, and we checked already, there's no organized transportation :/

Ughhhh. I wish I just had two really big arms and hands so I could pick the both of you up and place you together somewhere where nobody would bother you.

Please, thanks.

Yeah well, they're not very rich themselves and chances that this happen are really unlikely. And well, 2 hours of taxi is a little too expensive :/

Anyway, here's an update:

Ivet came up with an idea, another alternative to convince her parents, and it's pretty much our last resort, as her flight is leaving tomorrow. I'm not putting too much hope in this, though, her parents are too unpredictable. But I'll keep you updated tonight, as she will talk to them again tonight.

That's a nice sentiment but actually very frightening.

Thank you, Celien . It is unlikely that it'll happen, but yeah. As I said, I'll keep you updated.

That's just stupidly unfair :bigcry: I would be so so so fucking pissed off if that happened to me XD

Her parents have to see sense :( They just have to :(

Sorry to hear this, distance is already a big pain, you don't deserve other problems...But there must be a way, I don't know, sb she knows that's going to the airport, even hitchhiking maybe...Anyway fingers crossed for you

I feel like this is a marathon and you guys are like running with me <3

Thank you for the support, people. It is so so so appreciated, it's just what I needed.

I felt so angry and upset reading this  I can't even to start to imagine how you are feeling. I hope it works for you two

So did her parents know that you guys were meeting for a while?

Any idea why they changed their minds at the last minute?

Thanks, Emma

And yeah, I guess they realized last minute that such a trip wasn't free and started freaking out on her 'you need money for college!!!!' and we also think that it's because they guessed that we're a couple and disagree. She has enough money to come here without doing harm to her studies, though, but they won't hear anything.

And yeah, Ivet's internet is broken until Monday. So not only won't she come here, but I won't get to videochat with her until Monday (we do it every day usually for a few hours). Bleh. Bleh. Bleh.

I guess I can sort of understand where they're coming from in terms of college expenses, but that still doesn't seem fair to her or you to stop her from going. I really hope that it's solved for you both.

They had agreed to her trip before though. And she has enough money to come here and be completely okay for college, we didn't plan this lightly. :/

God  It never rains but it pours. Not fair not fair.

Hold on guys! May our support be of help.

Thanks, but it's not looking good. Texting with Ivet as we speak, and her parents haven't changed their minds yet. Her dad is pretty upset right now.

  • Author

Okay guys, the battle is over, she's not coming. I don't want to tell details, but her dad is threatening to kick her out cause she's lazy and good for nothing (for wanting to go on a trip that she worked for all summer and that she paid for).

thanks for the support. but it's over. ugh
