Lonesome concert goers...

Featured Replies

I've never been to a concert... ever haha

Also, next month is gonna be the beginning to my concert going experiences but I am going alone.

I don't mind going alone it should be fun anyway meeting new people and going with friends can be fun too but also, it's like, you're worried about if they like the music of if they're having fun etc etc. idk

Do you guys enjoy going to concerts alone or with friends?

it depends on the friends. For my first concert (U2) I went alone and I enjoyed it a lot. I went to see Muse with a friend but she kept talking all the time so I decided to "accidentally" get lost.

If you really like the artist then you'll be fine going on your own

I'll have never been alone to a concet. I'm going to my 3 concert this month, and I couldn't imagine to alone. But I'll guess that it wouldn't be that bad.

I think it cool be a very intensive experience to go to a concert alone. You can enjoy every moment, you will not get distracted by friends ..

I love going to concerts alone. :|

Except it's nice to have a friend with you to help you walk over to the wall when you keep almost passing out.

I've never gone to a concert alone. I did go to one with my friend and we got split up before the main act came on. And cause you don't usually talk during the acts, it wasn't that bad.

The great thing about going with someone you know is having someone to talk with before it starts (without the meeting new people awkwardness). And someone there to basically fan girl with afterwards.

Or you could make a new friend there and do all that...

I used to go to a lot of my concerts by myself.

Now I go with people that I made friends with at the concerts. So going it alone worked in my favour.

Now I normally announce which gigs I'm planning on going to, seeing if any of my gig buddies are interested and if they aren't I go alone and make new friends. Gigs are a fantastic way to meet people.

I would have to say flying solo to festivals is not such a brilliant idea though.

I prefer going along then I don't have to worry about being dragged out by a friend whom doesn't like the music or trying to meet up with said friend after the show to head back towards the car if we spilt up getting out.

Flying solo to festivals is great, I did 2 Glastonburys on my own, and my 3rd with my brother and I only saw my brother in the morning & last thing at night as we did our own things

But then again I haven't been to any music concerts since Richard Thompson in January cos nothing will be able to top that moment.

I do it all the time, at the end of the day all that matters is if you enjoy yourself watching a band you like. When I was at Oxegen last year all my mates just cared about drinking at their tents so i left them and spent practically the entire weekend on my own watching bands. Don't worry about being alone and just let the music blow you away!

all strange the concerts :\

Suede first concert in 1999 I have a VIP but never go

I work for the kids (disadvantaged). I was selling beers money for association. and have a pause. I was almost alone in the concert was strange to see the concert early

the next concert I do not know.

I've never been to a concert alone, but I suppose it wouldn't be so bad. It's better than dragging along a friend who won't enjoy the music you like.

But it is fun if the friends you go with like the same artist, and then you can be all fangirly and happy together. :cheesy:

Most concerts I go by myself since my friends or family don't know the bands I see or don't want to spend the money.

But it is fun to enjoy shows with other people. I think actually the shows I've enjoyed the most (Radiohead, Paul McCartney, Roger Waters, AF, Beach House/Grizzly Bear), I enjoyed when there was other people

Most of concerts i went, i was always alone :) and honestly i enjoy the music so much more than when i have company, sometimes is annoying having someone that goes "bla bla bla" all the time :wacky: and makes you lose some parts of the gig .. and then i got tired of missing gigs because i could not find anyone to come with me :|

And like someone said here, i end up of meeting some real fans of the bands there and now, next time they play at the town we already know we have to go together :)

never been to a concert *sobs*

I'd probably go alone though seen as none of my friends round here seem to have the same music interests.

Alone really isn't as weird as you'd think it would be. There are quite a few perks to it.

1) If you're in a pit, you can push your way up front without worrying about losing your friends. :P

2) You don't talk while the artist is on anyway, so you don't have to worry about your friend being that idiot that starts talking to you in the middle of the song. I absolutely hate that, so that's one great thing to avoid when going alone.

I prefer going with friends if I can, but if they're not into it, I'm completely content with going alone.

Flying solo to festivals is great, I did 2 Glastonburys on my own, and my 3rd with my brother and I only saw my brother in the morning & last thing at night as we did our own things.

Wow. Glasto solo? I don't think I could be brave enough for that

I think having someone there in the same vicinity is nice because if you have no band to see you can hang around with someone.

At Reading, I was by myself. It was alright for when the bands were on, but when there was nothing going on I got really bored.

And Benicassim is certainly a festival you need friends with you for. Otherwise the day wait for bands is hell (considering nothing started until 6pm)

I went to see Keane play and I was on my own, because I wouldn't miss out on seeing them play so close to me! I enjoyed it very much and, although i was worried about going alone, it was absolutely fine and I did talk to a couple of people but I got engrossed in the music...and because I was at the barrier, I exchanged lots of eye contact with Tom Chaplin! :D

When I saw Muse, I was with a group of 'friends' who I wasn't really friends with, I mean I liked them but we weren't exactly friends, I just went with them because they like my music...and Muse! :D I was right at the barrier and barely talked to my friends, I started talking to a nice middle aged woman (who wouldn't stop talking before the bands started) however when Muse came on...everyone got engrossed in the music and didn't talk. Magic.

My close group of friends don't like the music that I do which is a massive shame! :( I have decided not to go to many gigs because I don't know anyone who wanted to go with me...however it is not bad at all, well it wasn't at Keane!!!

I think I would attend more gigs on my own if I couldn't find people to go with and if I really wanted to see them! :)

I LOVE going alone. I did all of Lolla solo. I knew several people that attended the weekend, so flitted about on occasion, but generally prefer to go solo and meet new folks.

I like going by myself. For a lot of people, a concert is just a night out. I'm a hardcore music fan, so I'm there 100% for the music, not necessarily to be social. When I find like-minded individuals, I prefer to go to concerts with friends. Otherwise, I prefer to go it alone, as other people will probably mess it up for me and then I'll be angry.

Completely agree with everything that you're saying, I do the same thing! :D

I try to go to shows with friends, but even if I don't I usually end up bumping into people/bands/publicists/tweeps that I know.

I went to my first Coldplay concert alone, but I met a lot of Coldplayers over there. No problem.

i go to quite a few gigs on my own...mainly cos i just can't find a gig buddy. it's quite alright, really. but it does get a bit awkward when i get free gig tickets, cos it's always given away as a pair & i need to go around looking for a +1 but sometimes can never find one (the spare makes it feel like the tickets are wasted on me :shame: ).
